Welcome to Homemaking with Mema! My name is Wendy. I will be sharing cooking; freezer meal ideas; canning; baking; some organization; and cleaning. Hope my channel brings inspiration to you!
I think I forgot to say they are "Hornets" they don't do honey; just sting real good... Unfortunately; they burrowed holes in the cement between the cinder blocks of the basement; so we had to hire a professional to come in.... It seems to have worked.
Thank you for your comment! That's awesome!! Whatever works to get the tasks done! I've never tried a timer.... Maybe I'll give it a try! What kind of relish are you making? My husband wants me to can pickled jalapenos.... I'm not a fan but I may try.
Thank you for your comment! In the United States; it is asked that when you have an American Flag that is worn to the point of replacement; to burn properly with a dedication of pride. The American Legion folks in my area, have a ceremony with Honor Guard, Fire Dept. (with the proper equipment to burn and extinguish), Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts if they wish; to do this. The first time I went I was so surpised how many people donated, was probably over 100. Also; Flags that covered service men and women at their funerals; and families want to donate those as well are done. I actually went one time to the thrift store locally and asked if they had any; (ones that covered caskets of military service people) because I heard they do NOT resell them in our area and they actually had a box of them; so those were burned with honor as well.
Here's a good recipe for white fish. Melt 1 tbsp. butter in a 9x9 baking dish. Add your fish, salt, pepper and garlic and the juice of 1 lemon. Throw in a handful of grape tomatoes and bake covered at 375 for (I can't remember how long...25ish minutes?). Serve with rice and a veg...yum! 😋
Thank you for showing real life. I have a room like this (without the bed0 and it is my catchall room. You have given me some hope that I can get through it one day. I always have a box ready for Goodwill.. and there is always a small item that goes in there.. And I love my cookbooks as well, although there too, I have given some away and I regret that as well.
Thank you for your comment! As you get older and the kids move out; my thought has always been, what am I going to do with these rooms.... We've kept two for sleeping when we have grand kids and company but otherwise; pantry and storage is what it is.... I also have a box ready for the thrift store all the time... Great minds think alike!
I didn't know that "nobody" uses bookends anymore, but I do! 😊 And yes, I did get most of them at thrift stores so people are donating them. Happy to see someone else is using their guest bedroom for storage. In our new house, we are planning on putting two shelf units in the guest bedroom to store little used items or things bought in large quantities. Hoping to box up most of it to cut down on dusting (I live in Arizona). Have never seen the larger green tupperware before. It must be newer. My celery keeper is the small one like you have and is 56 years old! You did a great job on your shelves!
Thank you for commenting. I've been look at different bookends; cannot find any... but I won't give up. I believe my green Tupperware celery holder is from the 90's so it's not vintage but they do not manufacture it any longer. Oh yes, the kids are grown up and I have utilized rooms to my needs but kept a few for sleepovers; one room downstairs is my pantry with bookshelves and canning shelves. Have a Great Day!
Thank you for your question. I have two small bundt pans; I did the lowest time that it advised and than go from there. If you have a smaller one; start out at 10 min. and check, go from there. I hope this is helpful.
Parsley pesto uses Walnut. 2c roughly chopped, lughtly packed parsley,2/3c walnuts, 1/2c Parmesan cheese,3medium garlic cloves roughly chopped,1/2 fine sea salt pulse above u til u iform texture. Add 2/3c olive oil pour until incorporated 5:39
Thank you for your question. Yes I do; I do not use milk though; I use sour cream or cream cheese. Just my preference. After you thaw them in the refrigerator; put them in a microwave safe dish; microwave 2 min increments, stir, continue for at least 7-8 min total. They will seem "soupy" at first; but I promise they will stiffen up and BAM.... Mashed taters homemade.
Thank you for your question. Oh most definitely salt can be added; any spice can be add as it will not compromise the USDA pressure cooking results or the outcome of the product.
Sorry I didn't mention that; I use vinegar to wipe the top and side rims of the jars as if any juices drip on the jars; the seal of the canning lid could be compromised; especially if there is a fat (grease). Vinegar cuts through any possible grease. I don't remember if I mentioned as well; I add a splash of vinegar to my canner water as the minerals in my tap water make my jars cloudy on the outside; the vinegar helps keep that down. Have a great day!
Yeah, canning hamburger meat, to me, has the consistency of dog food. LOL!! Hide it in taco meals!!😜😜 But I guess when SHTF, we'll love it, right! Good video.
Canned Hamburger is great for Tacos, burritos, chilli, spaghetti/pasta baked & sloppy joes. It is the perfect texture for those dishes and you can add the seasonings to your liking. It is def worth canning.
I love grocery shopping trips from other countries, it really makes you understand the culture right? I'm from Germany but I live in Japan now and love exploring the supermarkets here! 😍
Thank you! I like seeing how different foods are as well with cost in different states here and other countries.... Makes me appreciate the fact that most of our food here in my state (Minnesota) are not taxed.... yet... Have a great day!
Thank you Dixie; I will look to see if my area carries it... Sometimes things are not sold in my area; upper midwest... Which makes trying things others use difficult; my area does not carry Dukes mayo and I really would like to try it.. Thinking of ordering it online
I love your channel! I've become addicted. I've learned so much from you. You gave me dinner prep ideas for those days I have to work in office instead of getting take out on my way home as well as overall money saving ideas. All those that lived here have passed and I've been struggling on all levels alone for the past 11 months. You even motivated me to get out of my slump, if only for a little while, and deep clean here and there. I've even made a list of pantry items and a list to make some of your meals. All that said, I'm sorry you had to make a video like this due to rude comments. A short video doesn't show the whole picture. Those with a brain know this. You keep doing you. You are helping. I appreciate you.
Im glad your videos popped up for me. Slow paced (not in a bad way), easily see what your doing. Real life & homey. I recently made a bunch of very basic english muffin sandwiches. I wrapped them in paper too. Then stacked them right inside the english muffin bags(threw out the cardboard) and also a bread bag and put them in the freezer. My sister told me that cost saving tip. But im not against ziplock bags. Lord knows I use a ton.😊
It is quite a task but boy not having that grease mess on my stovetop is so worth it. We reheat it in the microwave or you can place it in a fry pan on very low to reheat it. Thank you for your comment!
Im a stocker.we have 2 huge long lengthy shelves of canned foods.dry foods we have to put in a large rubbermaid container so that mice dont get in!however i dont have a garden, but catch any sales.Love to go down in the basement& sometimes just look at it& say thank you Lord we are blessed!
Thank you for you input; all ideas, suggestions and just knowing others are doing the same is so much appreciated! I love that you admit you just go and admire you efforts; because I seriously do the same thing but did not want to admit it; thinking I was weird for doing it!! I'm not, it truly is a BLESSING from our Lord!!
I love doing " prepwork" in the kitchen such a load off my shoulders on busy days.just tonight my husband said he was craving spaggetti.guessxwhat......few months ago i made spagetti&triple batch sauce.good news we had spagetti within 20 minutes.my husband was WOW! ITS DONE ALREADY???????
That is so AWESOME!! It is such a great feeling is it not!! We just had spaghetti to a few days ago, and yes I pulled a home canned sauce with meat off my shelf and it was done in no time! Keep up your efforts for you and you family, as it is working!
Have you compared the cost of bottled salsa with making yours with canned tomatoes? I think when you grow tomatoes it would be considerably less, but wondered about purchased tomatoes. Just curious.
I have not.... Oh i'm sure it is much less. I was quite frankly just going the quicker route. Bad on my part but I do more pressure canning than I do waterbath canning. Thanks for the question!
I totally agree! The bacon has gone up again; almost everything has gone up just in a month; what I am seeing. We only pray that after our elections we get some sort of a relief, no matter how it all turns out. Thank you for your comment!
Thank you for the question. This recipe was not mine to share; I looked it up on another youtuber channel; Suttonsdaze is the name of the channel. Hope that helps.
Thank you! My shelves don't have much assorted product on them or they would be a mess.... lol I do try to eat them down to keep my inventory sorted and have the ability to can my new stuff.
