Guess im the first.. Grew up here, that tree carving was in a giant tree, maybe it died or they made a new one.. The original was in the parking lot.

I visited that town center mall a few years ago. People begging for money made me uncomfortable. So did others who were loitering and appearing vagrant or intoxicated. Overall, there is somewhat of a rough crowd. Therefore, it is best to visit during peak daylight business hours. I don't know all that for a fact. That is just my first impression as an outsider tourist type of person. Winchester does seem to be a city where tourists should be cautioned to avoid certain subdivisions due to crime.
