Vintage Keys is a Recording Studio in Romsey, UK, run by Session Musician, Sound Engineer and Producer Steve Christie who trained in the mid 1990s at Air Lyndhurst Studios, London. We host a a large collection of working vintage electronic and acoustic keyboard instruments, synths and equipment.
Previous (and current) clients of note have included Mark Pritchard, Adam F, Cubeatz, Warp Records, Sunbeam Records. In the past, Steve has worked for Sir George Martin, Giles Martin, Tony Visconti, Hans Zimmer, John Williams etc, when working as an assistant engineer at Air Studios.
We also own our own record label called Vintage Keys Records.
Our videos set out to be informative, but without bombarding the viewer with over-technical descriptions.
Haha yes, put it it's top back on we don't want it to be indecent. Listening to what you're gonna say is almost as interesting as seeing all the "lovely old looking things" you work on 😂. I love the Farfisas and their raw unprocessed analog sound. They can sound quite eerie with some effects on them. Have a good one, thanks
i know minecraft chirp by c418 and orb of dreamers from little big planet use the same sound from this optigan of the flexible disc called super bossa nova style i wish i have the real optigan and a super bossa nova style flexible disc so my friends can listen to it and recognize the minecraft chirp and orb of dreamers from little big planet when I'm using it
If you have a minute to respond to a very beginner question, Ive wondered how an electric organ goes out of tune at all? I have a basic thomas organ and the whole thing is flat to varying degrees.
Hummm. Lots of 'doctor who sounds and pad-like soundscapes. But musically, it's a blind alley. You can always play the Yamaha Genos with its amazing reality voices - oh no! another blind alley!! Somewhere, probably in the 60's, instrument wise, we lost the plot (Melotron not included) personally, I blame the integrated circuit, yep those b@!£#%@s.

Wow!!! An honour to hear from you! I have spent many hours looking at your initials while I try to mend old peeling tracks! It’s a really lovely mixer and although I have now retired this one from the studio, I am going to rehouse some of the channel strips in a rack.
The Concept 400 series was designed by Malcolm Hill and Ian Colville. I helped test the prototype in April 1987. The 200 series was developed by Richard Seymore in1988. We made some excellent products, but unfortunately, most of us were made redundant in 1991, although by then most of us wanted to leave as the company was in a dire financial situation.
Years ago there was a band called The Ted Taylor Four, I vaguely remember seeing them on TV when I was a mere child 😁 I think the pianist presumably Ted Taylor, had one of these screwed to his grand piano. There's some of their stuff on RU-vid. Another brill upload sir.
There was also a polyphonic version of the Clavioline in production at the time, called Tuttivox. And the Combichord which was a combination of the Tuttivox and the Clavioline.
@@VintageKeysStudio Thanks, I did later find a company (B & H for $59) that sold “Sonic Reality’s Key’s of 60’s and 70’s”. It supposedly has some Clavioline sounds.
Such a wonderful device, an important instrument to repair and preserve IMHO. Fantastic that you have the skills to do so. Love those sounds, particularly the Telstar voicing. I see there’s a Concert model for sale on UK EBay………
I’ve got the exact same organ in about the same condition under my bed! My percussion switches have never worked so im looking forward to hearing what they should sound like….. i’m hoping for a little hammond style ping!
