Thinking of getting this. Curious how well the genre browsing works. I had a Sony Walkman MP3 player (~$80) years ago that did this very well. All the budget players I've had since don't implement this right. I'm fastidious about managing my metadata, because sometimes I just want to listen to classical, other times rock, etc. If the Surfans does this well, I'd grab it immediately. I've considered getting the Sony again, but they don't have much capacity (usually 8GB) and--for whatever reason--don't let you extend with an SD card.
@@alternatingbitmusic if u make more u have 100% of my mileage for all eternity😂 And for any similar app for that matter, im an eccentric that practices sound design among other things audio related on android.the only granular synth modules and such i have found for android are grainstorm, some bandpass stuff, and the grain module for Hexen
Sufrans, please release a newer, updated version of the F20 (ie F21 or F20 Gen 2) with an improved scrolling wheel, improved interface, improved chipset & longer battery life. Thanks.
@@alternatingbitmusic I know. I just thought I'd put the request out there just in case. It's been at least 6 or 7 years since the F20 was released. An update is long overdue.
hello do you know how to delete a preloaded sequence on the evolver? i cant for the life of me figure it out. everytime i press play on the digitakt when synced with midi a sequence starts to play on the evolver and i want to clear it
Dang it it's always something :D Have to use the power button to adjust the volume/pause?? If my old iPod had bluetooth, wouldn't even be considering this, but despite the absurdity this does seem like the probable option for a dedicated audio player...
I bought this and returned it after a couple of weeks The design and sound quality are really nice. The software on it is horrendous. It would just freeze and need a restart numerous times I used it. Also, the whole UI feels like something from 2002. I would look elsewhere for a quality DAP player.
It's almost like the software was nailed years ago by the iPod. If you started scrolling a long list it would start jumping letters. There has not really been anything close to that yet in the third-party market. When somebody does that they're going to be the top seller. There's a reason iPods are still going for a good price is used. It's nice to see that there's finally some non-audio file cheaper? alternatives.
The Rytm is a very different layout & more a more sample-based workflow... It really would depend what your needs are. I think the build quality on this unit is superb, as I believe I covered in my review. You can easily find negativity on any device if you look for it.
Rytm is the most boring sounding drumsynth ive ever owned. And i love elektron but i would go with a alpha base or for less money an model cycles lxr-02 or a tr8s. If you realy want analogue though this a vermona tanzbar 2 of soma would be my choice and dont forget the erica synth
For me was the solution to make my own INIT Patch, after that i have not much problems anymore. I can play days without the patch hanging. The Sledge is one hell of a synth. Super nice priced. If you see other brands for triple the prices, those synths are not worth it. Don't be negative about this one. Make an INIT patch rotating and pressing al the button and try again. It helped mine. Have fun! The easiest and fastest way is to copy the new INIT patch in the sledge software.
It's still not right to have to make workarounds and have fingers crossed but I'm glad you're happy with it. I think if the company admitted fault and made effort to actually assist I would have felt better about it.
Locking up to the point where all patches become an init patch? Having to reboot often? I'm not sure if other problems exist as I didn't keep it. I saw someone else demo it and he discovered sometimes patches can bleed into the next.
Hi my friend - how i upgrade this granular bomb? Mony no problem - my project heavenchord - and i like this granulator - i write you on email - please write me Im from Russia
the sledge black simply seems to have a slow internal operating system. I have learned to dial my patches with the number buttons, and wait until it fully loads. other then that the synth is ok, not great, just ok
Nice demo! You can actually record p-locks live. While in edit mode, you hold an instrument button and then turn any knobs you want and these movements are recorded.
@@alternatingbitmusic if you sequence externally (triggers coming from outside) can you still do p-locks using the method described above by @MaharadzaStunt?
Thank you. Great video! Have the Pulse Matrix. Just got into 5U 2 weeks ago. Bought the Vanilla Synthesizer and a 16 module unit case and there's only one space left.
Right after I saw this video I saw a thumbnail with an eerily similar player called the 'hifi walker H2' which has the exact same button layout, click wheel, UI... Either there's clones of some original device or it's some white label MP3 player that's just being sold to ppl willing to slap their brand and packaging on it. Kind of a bummer.
I've seen it on Amazon... I suspect the form factor of these units were not patented so it's probably free reign. I've seen similar cloning via guitar effect pedals.
