Miggy has changed so much over the past 40 years, the only thing I still recognise is Moby's chippy, it's changed hands so many times but it's still there.
Was very sad they knocked my house down in Middleton park square south. even took the street away ,Shame on who's not nice idea that was .it was a great street and lots of happy memories ,bulldozed. Even took our senior girls school down.Shouldnt be allowed 😢
Good old Middleton were I was born and grew up me and my two brothers had some fun growing up in Middleton. Thanks for great pics , lovely memories I hold close to my heart with my wonderful Mam and Dad and brothers.Great Day's ❤ 👍
Many memories from the 70’s and through the 80’s. I lived on the westwoods, and on the old estate in intake view. And went to Matthew Murray High school. Joined the Army in 87 and left in 92, bought a house in padstow avenue on the westwoods, sold it in 93 and moved south where I still live and work. I’ve been back up north a few times since… and Miggy hasn’t aged well I’m sad to say… 😞
Exile Mancunian what lived in Armley and Morley. I know the plantation pub in Middleton where Leeds United supporters club they set of from their for Away games with Tetley coaches.
No, the pond you are on about is a natural spring that flows down to the park pond then exits the other side of the pond down into the woods. The Ballywhack pond was situated at the bottom on the right, down the path past the old cafe which were a old mine shaft? I think..
Great video thanks for sharing the images. Are the images yours or have you collected them.i really interested in the history of the area and I am looking for photographs as I do not have any.
I lived in Miggy from '55 to '68. At 1:14 is that St Philips Church and the Middleton Arms? I was in the area a few years go to find both had been obliterated. Where I lived from 63-88 (Southcroft Drive) has also disappeared. They keep demolishing places I lived or frequented. I wonder if they're trying to drop a hint. I recently read some books by Keith Waterhouse, and he lived in the area. He mentions the "Murder Woods" - a murder had taken place in the Middleton Park woods adjacent to the Ring Road. The tram (12?) used to run through the woods and pop out down Dewsbury road quite close to the city centre. It was a wonderful journey. Unless you got murdered.
Yes they were St Philips Church and the Middleton Arms. A school as been built where St Philips were and a Aldi where the Middleton Arms were and the book you read by Keith Waterhouse wasn't called "There is a happy land" as I have the full film on my channel..
Brilliant video, thanks so much for sharing, grew up on Thorpe Road (born in 1964) so many memories of the old place. Been a great ride down memory lane.
Thank you so much for sharing these pics I too have been looking for pics like these. I’ve lived in Middleton all my life and love where I come from even now lol xx
Are you the Wayne that used to or maybe still does the grass tracking that lived just off Throston nest road in miggy? Looks very late 80s rather than 1991 lol. Remember the area well and the speed bumps have only got worse 🤔
