I had a Mynah for many years. I called her Maya. She could pick up speech very quickly, and usually whatever you didn't want her to repeat; and she could mimic my voice flawlessly. Maya was a hit at parties. She would entertain guests for several hours with bursts of language that would make everyone howl. She spent a lot of time with me, as she was seldom in her cage. She usually sat on a perch next to my desk. We were good friends. When she died, I cried as though I had lost my best friend.
