My father had a black Rover 14 in the mid sixties in Birmingham, it was the first car I ever ‘Filled up’ as a 4-5 year old, unfortunately it was soil and gravel and not petrol I put in the tank, he wasn’t best pleased 😂 I loved that car, but it was replaced with an ex works LWB Series 2a….. I couldn’t reach the fuel cap on that one 🤔
Got a long snout to accommodate the six, sporty or we xtra refined? Should'nt really say snout about auntie! It does go to show that Rover jumped ahead decade by decade and produced really good motor cars that breathed refinement
I have read that, in spite of synchromesh gear boxes being common in the 30's Rover was late to the party in putting synchro on 2nd gear, witness, Land Rover and possibly post war sedans.
You are quite right. However, a Rover box of the period is actually very user friendly and of course their freewheel system was designed to get around that problem.
