They charged people when the pre-orders were placed, well in advance of the product being released, which made it basically a sneaky kickstarter. All the expansion waves are the same way.
@stormk-1130 as for sets? It currently has 4 Master Sets, 1 spinoff Marvel set that is compatible but not the official game, 1 Battle Box, 4 Terrain Only expansions, 4 Terrain/Figure sets, 3 Big Box figure sets, 13 waves of figures (4 sets per wave), 8 promo figures, 2 story arc expansion boxes, and 5 Flag Bearers, and 1 Printable Army Card for an official figure that was never released. Not released yet, but confirmed are 6 more Story Arc expansion boxes, 2 more promo figures, and 2 more Terrain Only boxes, a Glyph Pack, and Dice Tray. (There is a bigger road map with more, but we don't know the names or content yet)
@@stormk-1130 , sorry to tag you so much, but here is a video that shows everything 2004-2010. It does not show anything that came out this year ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tpFoj2OKKbk.htmlsi=qAVsZ0FdgvV1bpl6 Not shown: Age of Annihilation Master Set figures, Battle for the Wellspring figures, Iron Lich Viscerot box, and Valkyrie box from Revna's Rebuke Story arc.
@BlueArrowII Thank you. I do this a few times in a few videos. Thank you for checking my channel out. Later on, I make less mistakes. Not perfect yet, but I improve each time (well, there is a spot in the middle where I changed combat to be incorrect for a bit).
Great vid! It was really helpful to watch before my first game. One thing I wasn’t sure is correct but that you may address in a later vid is that I think experience points and experience levels are two different things. Ie it takes two experience points to gain one experience level. I thought defeating an equal level neutral got you one experience point but I could be wrong!
@Gameturners2016 Interesting point! I will be redoing this video at some point. I got quite mixed up on experience. As you say, I eventually treated everything as a "point" and when I play I just give myself one point per encounter, unless it is higher level, than I take two which results in a level up. That translation to English and organization of the rules is not th3 best, but likely next September, I will be doing another video as there is a project on boardgamegeek right now to organize and clarify it for English.
Good lord.... I thought my snow tiles were dirty LOL. Those almost look like the sand tiles from the Arena of the Plainwalkers. But yeah.... most of my terrain was clean and then my cousin gave me all his stuff and you can tell a clear difference from what came from his house and what I've kept stored. His was far more dirty. Anyway, I thought the sun was the worst thing you could do with terrain? Especially now with most pieces being so old.
@iceman3317 The sun seems to be blamed now and then for brittle terrain, but I have done this several times, and my snow performs not even cracked yet. I would suggest a UV light setup, but zi was too cheap (aside, you can see by floating tiles in a cookie sheet). 🤣 Yeah, these tiles came from my cousin as well, I am not sure what exactly happened, but all of the tiles, even the road tiles, have this orange tint to them. He, nor his wife, smoke, so I just don't know. No matter what I did to the road, though, they still look all wrong. Much of my terrain is clean, but a few lots of I have purchased or used sets from eBay had a very different visual quality than the picture chose to represent them.
@stormk-1130 yes. In each Master Set you can get a book or you can go online here: renegadegamestudios.com/heroscape-play Scroll down to "Rules" and you can download the rulebook.
What a watery map! Excellent and surely the first I've seen in the history of the game. I always detested going up against Microcorp Agents and was hoping the Venocs could have won this showdown. Creative video as always, Derek. Thanks.
@jonanjello you are welcome! Common Clash #50 just so happes to have pulled a random challenger that will facilitate a little something special, each army will have a Hero and a Unique Squad. It will make sense when you see! The water map was more fun than I expected. It's a bigger battle of not just fighting for height. Jalgard was a pleasant suprise and made the fight seem less one-sided.
Thanks for the upload! Great to see this be of the new wave 2 figures in action!! Also, I spotted motorstorm in the background! What a game! You always have cool stuff laying around!! Lol
@@annieannie4213 You are welcome. I will get back to uploading stuff in about 2 weeks. As for Motorstorm, I loved the series and wish it would come back. Pacific Rift was my favorite, then Motorstorm, then Apocalypse last. I loved the tornado race in Apocalypse but did not like online play for unlocking stuff!
@purger3792 Yes. I won't be uploading much before October 16th, though. I will do more Heroes of Might and Magic III for sure. I still have Necropolis and Dungeon to do.
Hi there, I just saw that you got the necromancy card with a non necropolis hero. In that case you can put that ability card on the discard pile and draw another one.
Nice video. Some minor feedback: I saw that you rolled xp for a treasure chest with your 2. hero. If this happens, the xp are lost, because the 2. hero can not gain levels. This is even clarified in the designers-commentary, page 4: "Q: What if I gain a Treasure die with my Secondary Hero and I roll experience on it? A: Secondary Heroes cannot gain experience, so this effect is ignored. If your Secondary Hero gains any cards or resources, take them as if they were gained by your Main Hero. You ignore the roll only if it shows XP"
@DasJengo bah! Thank you. I had messaged the developers on BGG about Morale tokens and his reply was "anything your secondary hero gains goes to the Main Hero." He must have meant anything physical rewards. Oh well. Thanks for the direct reference to the rules!
When a unit is damaged and reduced from Pack to Few side it does transfer the entire excess damage, it is not mitigated by the Few side armor, Ability armor or whatever - just transfer the damage directly. Otherwise it is just same unit applying it's defense twice for the same attack which is a complete nonsense.
@Juvelira Yeah, I did that early, and then I was told I was doing it wrong, so for a few videos, I use the "Few" side Defense to stop damage. After a while, I realized this was wrong, and I went back to all damage being carried over.
@MontePlaysGames It has been interesting to rewatch some of this and be like, "Where did I even assume this?" and see how much I have learned. Although I still make some errors, it's still so fun.
@MontePlaysGames you are welcome. I am excited for next year, I also am a bit greedy, and I hope they announce more. I do know they are going to do a miniatures skirmish game as well.
@lukashajek3132 When I do an "unboxing" I like to not spoil every card, unit, or stat from the game. Since it is literally me opening the box, removing the contents, and giving a cursory glance at them, it is an unboxing by definition. It may not be the style or way you prefer an "unboxing" video to go, but you are incorrect in saying it is not that which it is.
If you mean it is not an unboxing because I also go over the rules, I mixed them both and the full title of the video is unboxing and new rules. Until I make a better "How to Play" video that goes over each expansion, I have the rules included in the videos where I unbox the items so people learning about the expansion can find the video for it.
You cheated the whole game 😅 You are NOT supposed to have an "income" at the beginning of the game.. its only a starting resource -- but you had added that to your town income the whole game ( town starting income is 0 gold, 0 resources and 0 building materials - unless stated otherwise ) - this scenario has +5 gold production ( im still not sure how to interpret that though )
At the first Resource Round where I check my "income", I am at 15 gold. You start at 10 gold every scenario. There is no 0 gold production, the +5 Gold Production puts you at 15 in this scenario. As for the building materials I get, I had flagged a Building Material mine before the round. Starting resources for this scenario are 14 gold, 8 Building Materials, and 3 Valuables. I followed the instructions for setup when it comes to my production. I am not sure what I was doing wrong regarding that. You are correct in that I would start at 0 on everything (aside from Gold as there is no possible 0.) and I did that.
@@Chen7500 that is also not a "ha ha, shut up!" reply from me, just explaining where my line of thinking came from as when I get called out on a rules flub, I try to address it and explain where I was coming from. In my earlier Solo attempts I make a lot of mistakes, I still upload my videos because it can help me learn for "next time,"
Ahhh - thank you for clearing that up for me !! I have been making things alot harder on my self than needed 😅 thank you very much for this information @@derekvash
Good to know that the Laur Edge is basically a recreation. So I don't have to buy it. I have 3 jungle sets as is lol. Maybe I will get it at a later time when i actually get the newest figures ect. Also good to know I can just use ice tiles to replace wellspring water if needed and not look too different.
@iceman3317 you would want to likely wait until February, at least for the second printing, as the 1st printing has some minor fitting issues on level 1 and above for the Grove at Laur's Edge pieces. It is not a big issue to keep personally, but Renegade did say the second printing and beyond will be fixed and marked on its box somehow so you know if you are getting a second edition.
@@derekvash yeah. From what I saw in your video, it isn't that big of a deal. I think even some of the old jungle piece didn't do very well on edges. Currently I don't plan to get any of the terrain expansions unless they start coming with figures again, or reprints of the older terrain coming in the future.
@@iceman3317 I myself want new terrain. I know that having the option to buy essentially replacements for my terrain is fantastic, but the desire for new, new, new hits me hard. New rules, new looks, new obstacles, gimme!
@@derekvash I got distracted, but will continue today. Meanwhile, would you be interested to play a Tower scenario I have created with full story? It is around 2.5-3 hours, could be splitted into multiple acts if interested, (you can select between multiple difficulties) and the decision you make actually alters the storyline. :)
@csabaidonat that's could be fun. I will be finishing with Dungeon and Necropolis soon and taking a break from Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Board Game for a bit. I have a few other games I want to get on the table. Keep it in mind though, this game will return!
@purger3792 Yes. The Secondary Hero can be simplified to be "just 2 Movement and your Army." He has no level but is considered to be the same as your Main Hero. Anything he earns goes to your main Hero. Tokes, Cards, Experience, etc. When he wins battles, he gains to experience though. The only waytit gets that for the Main Hero is, say, a die roll or something else that gives it. The Secondary Hero is great for exploring and getting those places you may be wasting your Main Hero's movement points to get to.
OK thanks, there are Lot of Rules for the Board game. How can i buy neutral units? Is it enough If i win a Battle agianst neutal units to buy some of them or do i have to Something, Like to build somithing in the town. Thanks for you help
@purger3792 to get the chance to recruit Neutral Units you need to be Dungeon, have the Diplomacy Abiloty, Astrolerg's Proclaim Card, or earn them through an Event (Fortress Expansion). You can only buy Neutral Units for the tier of Building you have built in your town. Bronze, Silver, and Gold. If you have Gold Tier, whenever situation let's you recruit Neutral, then Azure Tier units are allowed to be purchased.
can't wait to get this game in January and play it autistically alone while talking to myself. Honestly, no irony / jokes :D but i guess it might sound funny or bad
@alisardius1577 playing alone and talking to myself has let me upload it and share the game with a few hundred other people, so I count my loneliness in the gaming world as a win! 🤣 Are you going on the new Gamefound Campaign now with the "Legacy Shipping?" Or are you just getting a copy in January? Either way, have fun!
@@derekvash haha indeed your video is really enjoyable. Yes, I went all in big boxes with legacy shipping. I hope they really do deliver it in January :)
1:18:09 Christ so this is what two locations supposed to mean?! Damn I thought I cannot flag 2 fields on the primary map as the second one would trigger the combat with the AI hero. This mission book wording is just killing me… -_-
@csabaidonat That was my personal best interpretation of what it meant. The rules were so unclear, but after reading them, it felt like the enemy Hero was supposed to be the "Grand Finale," so that was what I went with, and it felt right.
@csabaidonat I have the card here. They do ignore retaliation. However, the final battle here is SLOPPY. I explained it a bit later, but I had to re-film it several times, and I was just ready to stop. It's not really a good excuse for poor examples of following rules, but it is the reason it's so.... haphazard in the presentation. (I did win every time I filmed, I just kept forgetting those AI cards!)
@csabaidonat I can't recall. Since I do not remember, but I do remember building it, I will say... probably not. 🤣 I know I built one, but forget exactly when. The paralysis thing will need to be remembered by me next time. I figured it literally paralyzed them, I guess, according to boardgamegeek, it does not prevent retaliation. Weird.
Derek, how do you have so many empowered statistic cards in the beginning of this scenario? Did you bring it over from the previous chapter? 😂 Nice job! I guess it had to do something with the fact you played with events in the previous chapter, as I rarely have an option to empower my statistic cards and you already have a few! :D
@csabaidonat the Astrologer's Proclaim cards all got me Empowered, and then I got Scholar. I am beefed up big time for Act III. It's going to help a ton. I double-checked to make sure I carry those over, and yes, ALL Statistic Cards currently in your deck carry over when you set up your deck for the next game. So it's a mix of bringing some over from the previous chapter and then getting more. I think I have only Empowered stats now, I am ready to face Lord Haart!
@csabaidonat I highly doubt it will happen like this on my next Campaign though, I try to play with un-sleeved cards so I can "experience everything" at least once. Since I had just opened Inferno, I had no clue I would be setting myself up so well. It is all well and mixed in now. No instant boosts!
Thanks for the video! I couldnt watch it full but watched the highlights. Only one comment this time: according to the Fortress rule book when it introduces event cards it specifically says only to use it in multiplayer game. I wanted to use events for my own solo campaign but decided not to because of this info.
@Deltium5683 They are sloppy in parts, and rules you should know seem to come in at other times. The game itself is great, the developers are also active on boardgamegeek so they do clarify some rules if needed. There is also a fab project to make the English version clearer. I think I will be doing another "How to Play" video when the new stuff drops.
Thumbnail’s just as cool as that map. I have a puzzle-y board game, Iceflow, that gives me chills just as much as Scape’s ice and snow tiles provides. I gotta get me my own Samuel Brown. Another great session, Derek. Thanks
@stormquiver They could be, but I chose to have them in the front to not have the Combat Penalty. I like to do that early on when I am fighting just Bronze Tier. Once units tend to survive a few hits, then I keep my ranged fighters in the back. If they are required to be there, I missed that rule and will need to read up on it.
@@derekvash my bad, as per the rules. it is only the neutral units that are effected by this rule. players are free to setup their units however they want in the back and front rows.
@vitaliri Yes, of course. The Sleeves I use are CHEAP. I buy them in packs of 1,000 because I have so many card games, its easier to replace a sleeve than a card. They tend to stick, too. Anyway, they are Ultra Pro - Penny Sleeves
Great video! I would recommend that you try the PC game it's really fun. The best version of the game is to get horn of the abyss expansion. There is online multiplayer with simultanious turns, also there are 2k players online daily. Besides that campaings are really fun and there are great single scenarios since game features map editor and communitiy makes wonderful maps e.g the devil is in the details map
@MabusCRO88 I agree, the PC game is really fun. . .so fun that I have been playing it since 1997! Haha! I grew up with this game thanks to my Dad's love of strategy games. It is more than just a classic. I tried Horn of the Abyss for the first time in 2018 and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I hope the new Gamefound Campaign for the expansions adds more than just Cove and some Neutral Units, I am greedy!
Amazing tutorial! Fully appreciate the effort put in and subscribing for the following content as ordered myself the game recently. Hope that fantastic community HOMM3 have will come up with even more scenarios for future interesting playthroughs. Cheers.
@@r3tr0v3rt Oh, I also hope for more scenarios! The latest Gamefound Campaign says they are adding more, more Heroes, more Towns, etc. So cool. When all the new stuff arrives, I will be doing a revamped rules video. Thanks for checking my stuff out.
@jonanjello The movie is hard to enjoy if you don't have a group of people ready to watch one of the dumbest films you can. I grew up with it, so I find it hilarious. Those Ashigaru need help some way. 🤣
Thanks, this seems like the best method by far! I already had about 30k and this seems to increase your criminal rating a little more per level, so when you get to about level 140 you start getting about 1000+ criminal rating, at 160 i hit 100k.
hey, thanks for this video, super super informative. Could you explain Admiral EJ-1M's boarding party special attack? When it says can attack 4 times, does that mean he can effectively attack the same unit 4 times for 3 dice each attack every single activation? Or is it 4 times for the entire game?
@RobbySiva You can attack up to four times per activation of Admiral EJ-1M if you choose to use "Boarding Party Special Attack." You may attack the same figure repeatedly. You just may not move the same figure each time. So, if you have the Knaves of the Silver Scimitar, for example, you may move one of them each time attack that activation with EJ-1M provided you have the units alive to do it and you are using "Boarding Party Special Attack." Keep in mind that you can move any Pirate or Captain figure when you do this. It does not have to be the same squad.
@@derekvash gotcha, so just to make sure, are you required to have a friendly pirate target to move to make an additional attack or can you make the additional attack without moving a figure? So like say you didn't draft any other pirates than Killian for some reason. Killian is already adjacent. You opt not to move him. Can you still make the other 3 attacks against that same unit despite not having a valid target to move with the 2nd effect, or does the 2nd effect have to be valid to make an additional attack.
@RobbySiva , but keep in mind that the extra movement for other Pirates/Captains you have can only happen of you are attacking a target for the first time with the 4 attacks. Youay make 4 attacks, but movement only happens if it's the first attack on the target you choose.
