My names Bec, I'm an artist based in New South Wales, Australia. I've been painting since March of 2018. It quickly became my passion, and I'm here to share that with you all.

Love the Armatruda paper! It takes sooo many layers and the lifting is much better than Arches imo. I bought a pack of 8"x8", perfect size for pet portraits. Will def be buying more. Lewis Hamilton portrait fab. My cousin's son works for Mercedes as their social media person. He takes all the promo and behind the scenes photos and films etc and just follows the GPs around the world with the rest of the Merc team. He got his Mum & Dad (my cuz) and bro full VIP Mercedes passes for the Silverstone GP (their photos were incredible) and I'm currently awaiting the arrival of a Merc cap with his signature on when they come and visit in a couple of weeks! V v excited about that one as Mercedes is my ultimate dream car. Only in my dreams though! Congrats on the website btw.
Okay, so a) Love your studies - the eye was super stylised and your layering and chosen limited palette for the study were pretty damn cool b) I recently sent in a set of three hand studies to Incognito Art show, v similar kind of vibe c) You should def do Incognito each year if you don't already AND d) we should go for a coffee and trade tips on how we can "loosen up" our work. I'm guessing somewhere around Beaumont St would be half way for us both. You know what Newy is like, we probably know at least twenty of the same people 😆😎. Great vid. Love the pace and it's lovely hearing an Aussie voice for a change 😊👍🏻
When I do pencil drawings I tend to do color last rather than so early on and have the lines all figured out before coloring. This is interesting to see.
Wanna hear something funny? Started watching your vid because of the Ali C QoR part of "haul" and I liked your kittykat values study picture. About 10 seconds in and I was like "hahahaha, that's just what Chris and the other girls say to me when I walk in Adamstown Art!" 😆. The Clairefontaine Bamboo paper is the one I've got on my list to buy next time I'm in. Then OMG, just like the girls at Adamstown, your store gave you the same paper samples as me 😃. And then I thought, let me look where this gal is from. Ding ding ding, give me the meat tray! It appears that you are also a regular (and spend far too much time and/or money) at Adamstown Art. Anyhoo, I'm also Newy artist, I work in watercolour and mainly in portraits. Ali C is my Mentor and I've been working with her for almost three years now as part of her "Aligators Watercolour Community", where we paint watercolour portraits but on watercolour ground prepared boards/Aquaboard. I will do other stuff on paper, mixed media pieces, abstracts, landscapes, pets etc. So, thought I'd say "hey" 😊, new sub (obvs) and look forward to watching your channel grow. However, bit peed that I missed that Prismacolour sale!
OMG hahaha, such a small world! Definitely guilty of spending way too much money and time there 😂You work with Ali??! Thats incredible. Is it something anyone can join? Chris and I were talking about her techniques and the way she uses boards and watercolour ground and just amazed by what Ali can do. Really admire her work. Well, welcome, and thank you! Also, the full set of prismacolors is on sale on Amazon for $155 at the moment 😉
Unusually calming with the music, which perfectly underlines your voice... and it's inspiring to see how you breathe life back into the Pigments I was at a Christmas market years ago - couldn't walk past the glass dip pens either xD beautiful objects for decoration, but also something special for me to doodle
I am surprised you have so much calming music for this video when I am so used to hearing you play heavy metal gothic type of music during your Twitch streams.
I love Prisma color pencils but never purchased that many colored pencils all at once. That’s cool that you got them on discount. I would have problems with space if I purchased that many Prisma colors all at once.
M. Graham is my favourite brand, I use some other brands, but MG makes up at least 90% of my palette 😅 That awkward to say grey reminds me a lot of the M. Graham neutral tint, it's very pretty and quite purple-y.. 😍
Another M.Graham fan! I think I have most of the colours, at least the ones I can get here in Australia, but is there a colour you'd recommend adding? I thought the same! So I did some research, very similar make up, just using different pigments.
@@painterastudio Honestly all of their colours are amazing, I'm in the states so it's a lot more affordable & accessible for me than for some (still expensive tho lol). I saw someone swatch them in a video and instantly fell in love, ever since they've been my main paints and no other brand compares. I got some Sennelier to try out and I enjoy them, but even those just aren't the same consistency.. I wish I could take all of my favourite paints and turn them into M. Graham's 😂 It's hard to pick any that are favourites or even good colours to have because I honestly could just have all of them and be happy 😅 But I definitely use Gamboge (my replacement for DS New Gamboge) and their Terra Rosa (I think is the name) is a GORGEOUS natural red colour, almost like a brick red-brown. Their Olive Green was not at all what I was expecting when I first got it (very yellowish/brownish) but I find myself using it literally all of the time in my green and brown mixes! So if I were to suggest any colour above all, I would say that one. Just don't get it thinking it's gunna be a typical olive green colour. It's surprisingly useful in mixes. Especially for natural colour mixes 😁
@@painterastudio @painterastudio If you were ever interested in any colours from them and couldn't find it in AUS I would be more than willing to send you little quarter pans of them to test out or help you get a hold of the tubes 😊
@@RampantRoses Oh I'm incredibly jealous of the amount of things you guys have access to over there 😂 We get quite a few of the M.Grahams here, and I have plenty on my palette, but theres been a few convenience colours that I've wanted in the last few years, but like Viridian was $50 or something haha. I think I have gamboge and terra rosa, but I'll look into olive green for sure. Thank you so much!
Bec! I'm so happy to hear and see you still killing it with art, and you are just a natural for doing videos about art, materials, and this is so calming too! I have never seen that resin based paint you used but it sounds like you can do lots of fun molding with those paints. It's so great seeing you and I loved this video! Subbed and cannot wait for what's in store 🙂
It's a shame the sample was so sparse, because that is a very highly granulating dark brown that adds a lot of interest to mixes. Unfortunately, it is genuine Van Dyke Brown, which is not lightfast.
