"Always in Teaching Mode" I Teach the 6 C's Think Critically - Communicate Effectively - Work Collaboratively Develop Creativity - Embrace Culture - Curate Information
I was that "right brained" student. For many years, I attended a private school, where the teaching styles used were mostly aimed at right brained students. However, when I attended my local public school for high school (the private school only had Pre-K through middle school), most of my teachers taught in a very left-brain oriented manner, which didn't bode well for me, since I have always been a right-brained learner. What public school teachers need to be encouraged to do is adopt a teaching style that accommodates both left and right brained students. Unfortunately, public school districts only cater to the majority, and not to every student. Everyone is given the same tasks and assignments, rather than being allowed to choose between a left-brain oriented assignment, and a right-brain oriented assignment. Students are also taught in the exact same way, rather than teachers giving individual instructions based on how students learn. I understand teacher concerns regarding perceived favoritism, bur there is a difference between preferential treatment, and giving each individual student the tools they need to be successful.
