Established in 2017, but guided by a lifetime of memories.
Please join us on our journey of remembering and honoring my Dad in everything that we do. He was a hard working, faithful farmer up until his passing in December 2016 at only 62 years old.
2017 was the first year farming (part-time) on our own, but I know my Dad will always be with us.
We will always remember you Dad. Your time with us was far too short, but you taught us to work hard, do a good job, and have a love of what you do. Love You Dad.
@@TheGrumpyFarmer Well now that you brought it to my attention, that’s all I can hear now 😆🤦♂️ I usually like flying the drone but typically it’s right when I need to be busy, so I don’t always get to
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 haha. I really thought it was an interesting perspective 🙂 Right now I use a combination of different programs. I use John Deere Operations Center to initially create the prescription based on 3-5 years of historical yield data. And then I export that into AgLeader SMS to get the maps for the Integra. Based on the historical yield ranges, I try to match the lbs of nitrogen with the expected yield. I have fun with it :)
Every so often I’ll see them on marketplace. Too rich for my blood though. I think ~$500 per row x 24 rows. I also think I’m a bit limited with the x-fold boom - I don’t think I’d be able to fold it with them on. With that said, I watched a demo of them once at a farm field day, and they do seem like a great setup. Puts the nitrogen on either side of the corn row.
@@TheGrumpyFarmer They do have a pretty extensive mount, drop pipe, plus y-unit. But yeah, every time I’ve thought about it I just couldn’t justify it 😬
That is a really slick unit. Now that I built myself a tender trailer I am debating in the future do I go to a unit like that. When I had no tender and I drove back and forth from the field to the farm I needed a lot of capacity on the sprayer. But the speed and maneuverability of that unit man a guy could get a lot done
Thank you Jon! The funny thing, from time to time I wonder if I should find a 1600 gallon pull type like my Dad’s farm had - just because filling up less often would certainly be nice! But like you said, the speed and maneuverability is certainly nice! It doesn’t take up too too much space in the barn, and leaves two less tracks in the field. I use this for sidedressing too with drop hoses - something I took from your channel many years ago!
Is everything washed up and put away today we washed everything because it’s rained three out of the last four days. Only thing that didn’t get washed was the chisel plow
All washed up and put away early this year!! I’ll admit, it’s a good feeling. I got all of my spray on this past weekend, and now just have to sidedress yet. I figured I’d wait for the corn to get a little taller this year, so maybe 7-10 days away yet.
😆 When I needed a quick RU-vid approved song and didn’t take too long to find one. Haha. It does feel really nice to already have it washed up and put away!
Extra tractors are nice, I used to get tired of hooking and unhooking all the time but now I pretty much leave everything hooked up all the time😆. I almost bought an 8560 last fall but my phone went dead while bidding, little underpowered but it was nice shape and good rubber, oh well.🤣
I’ll admit, that was one of my favorite parts about this spring is I didn’t have to keep hooking and unhooking - especially the planter. Tillage equipment is never too bad, but the planter takes a little bit. I’m so happy with the 9200 this year. Obviously a bit nostalgic too, since that’s the model my Dads farm owned. But it did such a good job with tillage and was definitely more efficient in pulling it compared to the 8245R. (By the way, I thought I replied back to this two weeks ago so I feel bad I never hit send!!) Hope spring planting went well for you too!
See, went right as planned buying a tractor I really didn’t need, but knew I really really wanted after looking at it on Christmas Eve 😆 Got me unstuck and helped me get the corn planted in time.
Maybe not smiling 😆 Some choice words instead since I knew I needed to stay productive planting. Plus my brother was out of town that day, so I wasn’t sure who to call for help. Thankfully I had a buddy close by that was able to drive the 8245R while I pulled with the 9200 🤦♂️
All things considered, I’m really happy with the soil conditions this year. Some wet areas yet, but nothing the 9200 couldn’t make it through (my planter tractor - not so much as I showed in my last video 😆)
Well thankfully it was the far back corner, so had I not posted it on RU-vid, no one would have ever known 😆 (My Dad used to joke that if a John Deere were to ever break down, you needed to tow it behind the barn so no one could see)
I’ll have to check that out actually! I’ve typically had the sensitivity fairly high just so it adjusts quickly. But it may be better to not have it steer back and forth so much. (Always figure it’s still less than I steer back and forth 😆)
I’ve been so thankful having the 9200 on the farm this spring. Certainly helped when it was a tighter window to get things done! Thank you for watching!
Haha. Stress of continually looking at the forecast and not knowing exactly when it’ll be good to start planting 😆🤦♂️ So far the 10 day doesn’t look good
I actually didn’t, no. I did take out the two outer shanks to bring it down to 30’ (width of the rolling baskets I pull). But figured taking the frame off would’ve been a lot more work than needed :)
Well since I have Hudson on barn cleaning duties right now, only a matter of time before I can convince him servicing the equipment is a “fun” job too, right?! 😆
I ordered one from tractorseats 4 months ago because i wasnt sure if these from shoup were the right ones. Still havent gotten the one from them so i may give this shoup one a try. Thanks for the vid!
Hopefully it’s an easy install for you!! I was pleasantly surprised with mine. The instructions may not have been the best, but it seemed straight forward. The one thing I’d probably do different is have larger self tapping screws instead of bolts. Good luck!
Procrastination at its finest. 😆 Looking back, thankfully it wasn’t too bad of a job. But with how heavy those pieces are, I wasn’t looking forward to it. The loader was a big help this time though.
I’m going to feel really dumb if that’s a feature on my tractor and I didn’t know it. I feel like I’ve seen that on the IVT but not on the 16 speed. It’d be nice if I was wrong though!
Ya just push the trans button go to 16 push set button and it will shift by itself depending on engine rpm think u can set shift patterns based on what rpm u want it to shift at somewhere too.
I like it in field too set ur working gear and when u throttle down for end rows it'll downshift n upshift when u throttle up again . The button on ur resume switch push back to activate on its own or will activate when u hit resume if ur autotrac n
Thankful that it has gotten cooler again this past week. But still so far away from our normal warm up that I don’t quite know what to expect yet. Hoping and praying for the fruit guys, since I know that’ll be pretty dicey until May
As much as I’ve found it “fun” getting a chance to do tillage in March, I’d rather have snow cover and moisture. I feel like it’s going to come back to haunt us. Did you have a dry 2012?
I actually don’t do any no-till. But I do yield map all of the fields so I have a better idea where to variable rate my planter. Most of the sand/lighter ground gets a lower population. But I do tillage on all of it though.

I actually run my Starfire receiver with the AgLeader (figured it saves the cost of the another receiver). After I upgraded to the 7000 (from the 3000), thankfully no more Bermuda Triangle field :)
@@mrbill4187 I hadn’t known that either until I got my first yield monitor (AgLeader) in my 9500 combine. I had originally gotten the 3000 globe when I got my first 8245R, and since I already had it, I figured I’d ask. But with a few extra settings selections, it can be used for both. So now I just share the globe between the two tractors and the combine
@@RemembranceFarmsLLC That's good to know! I keep thinking I need an autosteer system at least in my old 4440 I drill the beans with. All I got is an old Raven cruiser.
