Blessings! At the appropriate time in the reading schedule, can you provide your thoughts on John 20:17? Two ascensions? Or, just a way of Jesus telling Mary not to cling to him, but instead go and tell the other disciples (as I have read in some commentaries on this verse)? Mary Beth

Thanks for the bible study on the topic of marriage. I appreciate that the point was made that marriage is a covenant. Malachi 2:14 - 16 I have faith that the apostle Paul was echoing this passage. This passage is very useful in explaining how God’s covenant of marriage and how divorce violates God’s will and purpose for us. The marriage covenant sanctifies the family as well. In the Malachi passage it says God expects a godly seed from the union. The provision of remarriage of the same couple may be an example of how we reconcile to God as well. A marriage reconciliation is an example of mercy and forgiveness that we are called to extend to each other. This is a principle that transcends the ages. The book of Hosea may also serve as a great study of how God deals with the complex issues of a sin in a marital relationship. @Corrie I appreciate that you also made a point to explain that marriage is representative of us living in God’s image of creation. Finally, the part where the Lord explains eunuchs is quite interesting specifically He mentions that some are eunuchs at birth and some made eunuchs by men, it seems that he also addressed this scenario to alleviate the concerns of single people and God’s will. I appreciate that this topic was addressed. I do want to note that there are many ministries that exist today that deal with keeping the covenant of marriage even where there is adultery. The point that our Lord Jesus made is that the bill of divorce was due to the hardness of the hearts. Again the book of Hosea is detailed about the reconciliation in the face of adultery. Thank you again.

The ministries are referenced as #marriagestanding or #marriagestanders. They are doing great work in discipling spouses or couples seeking reconciliation or remarriage in the will of God.

Hi Matlock and Corie. I really appreciate how you guys discuss the question of wicked leaders within the church/community. I like that Matlock spoke more of the spiritual disease (pride as a sin, degrees of wickedness) and Corie spoke more of the transgressions (grievous sins), laws ('lines of evidence'), and the human cost of evil acts in the victim and within church community. I know that both perspectives are valid and do interact. That is, the need for the 'wicked leader' to be humbled and to tell the truth (at the same time as asking for forgiveness and accepting of the decisions in the court of law, sentencing), and, as Corie says church/community not to tolerate leader's transgressions nor "let it slide." Just today I read in Exodus (v27,28) (I'm a little behind🙂) how God appoints Aaron as a priest and gives instructions for his priest (role) and proper attire. It was interesting that the side comment (verses27,28) to Aaron's garment was to show honour and integrity to the people and rules for the priests in the tabernacle. Perhaps my question is more relevant to the NT, Corie; how is pride seen more as a spiritual sin/eschewed whereas honour and integrity is portrayed more as an asset to one's character? How, for example, the early leaders, Timothy, Paul, deal (?instruct) the early churches to individual/group distention's around pride?

Blessings to all the Hembree and Bobechko family members. I so enjoy your show. I have been watching daily since 2019. I am confused by Matthew 17 - particularly about John the Baptist and Elijah. Are they the same person? Did Elijah come again as John the Baptist? Is this why Elijah had to come back to earth in order to die a physical death? 2Kings 2:11 refers. Thank you for all that you do. Hello, Great video! A few minor points, I think you will find that Paul wrote his letters to the Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and to Philemon while imprisoned not while in Ephesus. See Paul’s mention of imprisonment in each of these epistles: Ephesians 3:1 and 4:1, Philippians 1:13, Colossians 4:3, 18, and Philemon 1:10. Also I believe John wrote The Revelation while on the Island of Patmos (Rev 1:9). Kind regards

That little building was Not the Antonia fortress. There was over 10,000 Roman troops and their support units stationed there. Do you really think that little building you show could hold that army ? The temple was not built on the Temple Mount. The Wailing Wall is actually part of the Roman Fort. Jesus said Not one stone shall be left upon another. And writers of the time verify that. See Bob Cornukes videos and books on the subject. Also there is No fresh running water at that site. Which there Has to be for the Temple sacrifices.

Good stuff thanks guys! I do agree with your premise on ministry. I guess what I struggle with is the attempt to be the judge. Or at least what I’m hearing winds like it. But again I understand what you’re saying and agree for the most part! But it does seem you become a bit legalistic at a point. And yes there are many ways to look at it. My way, Your way, and there are at last count some almost 8 billion possible ways to look at the dilemma you speak of. And that is sin In ministry! I would like to say this! All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Whether it be behind a pulpit in 2024 0r in the garden listening to and succumbing to a liar and deceiver! David not only hid his sin from the people, he sinned against God & himself, when he stole another man’s wife, and onto it off, as king he manipulated and ultimately killed as if it were his own hands around Uriahs neck, he extinguished the life of the adulterous woman’s husband. Yes all of scripture, front to back calls us to repent of All our sin! Not just sexual sin! Albeit that is spoken extensively of and should be heeded in scripture! I guess what I am saying is God will call who God calls! I know so often we want to be the judge and arbitrator of what God meant, and how that should be understood. I get it, trust me. lol That is a joke by the way! Don’t trust me but trust Jesus Christ and his Holy Spirit that will lead us into all truth. God judges the heart of man! We tend to judge by our eyes! Again I do get your fundamental point and I do appreciate that belief. Do not necessarily agree with it, but I can appreciate it! I certainly think a lot of factors come into play, when one is being considered for the ministry! But I would hesitate to say never! At the end of the day, and in the spirit of Our Redeemer Jesus Christ, I would say that absolutely anything is possible for those who love The Lord and walk (no matter when they started that walk, for such were some of you) according to his word and truth. Mark 9:23 ESV And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Genesis 18:14 ESV Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” Job 42:2 ESV “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Mark 10:27 ESV Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Thank You very much for all your work in ministry to & for our Lord Jesus Christ Blessings

Hey there! I appreciate your point of view. I agree that everyone can be forgiven of sin. However, according to the New Testament, teachers and overseers are held to a higher standard of living (James 3:1). To be forgiven of sin does not mean there won't be physical consequences. If a pastor is a repeat predator and uses their position to do accomplish these evil acts, they have disqualified themselves for the pastoral ministry according to the standards for elders/overseers in 1 Timothy 3. A godly reputation affects how Jesus Christ is viewed in the larger world. It's so important. I would also say that King David was fundamentally a different case because he was an appointed king of Israel who carried the messianic promise! Pastors aren't kings in the line of David. Jesus took that role over and fulfilled it! Pastors can be deposed. They are supposed to lead with integrity and shepherd the people of the King (Jesus), if they fail to do that, they're out. Not out of the kingdom, if they repent of course, but out of their role.

Genuine question- how do you interpret the 1 Cor 13 saying prophesies and tongues will cease, but love never will cease? Is there a timeframe? I've heard some say these stopped after the apostles died, but I understand that is not the teachings of Pentecostal and Charismatic churches.

Curiously enough, Eusebius tell us in book 4 chapter 22:4 and book 3 chapter 11 that Simeon, who was the son of Clopas, took over the position of Bishop after James was martyred. He was said to be one of the brothers of Jesus in the gospels. In book 3 chapter 32:1 he says that Simeon had died a martyr(the second bishop of Jerusalem). You get to chapter 32:5, you can find another called a brother of our Lord, Judas(who is also mentioned in the gospels). Now if you follow who were the women at the foot of the cross in the gospels you can find the other two “brothers of our Lord “ who are said to be the sons of Mary the “sister of Mary, mother of Jesus”(cousin using the Greek) and Clopas. So there you have it. The four gents called the brothers of Jesus are cousins. I guess they had at least two sisters.

Can I just say in Love that your explanation of Joel and the locusts made absolutely no sense. It's this yet it can also be another thing. But- no real explanation of what the scripture is saying in Context. Just saying. I'm not sure where or what your theology is coming from but please try to again answer that particular question. Thanks.

@coriebobechko 12 дней назад
Hey there! Joel seems to be describing an actual, physical locust plague, in context - look at how he describes very specifically their known life cycles in Joel 1. However, it's also pretty clear he isn't just speaking about a locust plague! He says things like: "a powerful nation has come up against my land..." 1:6 and "The LORD utters his voice before his army, for his camp is exceedingly great; he who executes his word is powerful. For the day of the LORD is great and very awesome; who can endure it?" 2:11 and on the enemy's judgment, "I will remove the northerner far from you, and drive him into a parched and desolate land, his vanguard into the eastern sea, and his rear guard into the western sea; the stench and foul smell of him will rise, for he has done great things." 2:20 and "For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there..." 3:1-2 Joel was not only revealing the "why" behind the locust invasion: It was the Lord's work, to bring judgment for sin, the locusts were brought by God. It was also a future prediction about the judgment of God, and His ability to bring complete judgment. But he was undoubtedly using something physical that the people knew well, and feared, as an analogy for the complete judgment and devastation that would be wrought. So then, much like other Old Testament events and prophets who used actual physical events to reveal God's deeper meaning and to foreshadow greater things, ie. Isaiah prophesying naked, and the entire Passover event, Joel could be utilizing an actual locust plague to foreshadow and prophecy a coming judgment of God. Something being prophetically motivated does not stop it from also being an actual historical event. It can be both this and that! Hope that helps!

Could the locust devouring crops in Joel have a spiritual application, like could God be revealing how our sin is exactly the same thing, and the war within us with our flesh battling against the Spirit? I thought God revealed this too me a couple years ago. Or is this spiritualizing scripture? Thanks guys God bless
@coriebobechko
@coriebobechko 12 дней назад
Hi! I think there are definitely spiritual truths that we can draw out of the physical and spiritual realities described in Scripture. In Joel's case, the invading locusts/terrifying army are agents of God brought in to judge sin. The people's repentance then brings God's salvation and His judgment on evil nations. So, this definitely speaks to God's ultimate plan of redemption for people who are truly his! (people who repent of their sins and want to follow Him!) He is mighty to save even from the most dire circumstances!
