Grand duke Konstantin Nikolaeyavich of Russia is one infidel brute! He loved Alexandra Iosifovna when she was younger...but went for Anna when she was barely 37? Oh, looks like he hated being a grandfather too early! Alexandra Iosifovna's sister was Queen Marie of Hanover. Her daughter ( obviously Konstantin's daughter as well ) was Queen Olga Constantinova Romanov of Greece and Denmark. He ruined his image in front of other relatives of his! Shame on him! 😖
Povera principessa morta cosi giovane ,con i bambini ancora piccoli .Mia madre la nominava sempre e ora finalmente posso vederla in fotografia .Riposi in pace
I have a book, This King Business, written by Frederick L. Collins from the early 1920s. In the frontispiece is a photo of Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Marie Pavlovna the Younger. HIH has written a dedication to Mr. Collins. It says, "To Mr. Collins. Marie, Grand Duchess of Russia, Paris 1922. HIH has also written a few comments in the margins of the book. I treasure this book tremendously.
please *DON'T COPY THE BULLSH1T ON WIKIPEDIA* She was actually Margaret Theresa *of AUSTRIA* NOT Spain. As she was a Habsburg, she was an Archduchess of Austria, by birth, a title which took precedence over her being an Infanta of Spain. Please #DONTCopyWikipedia.
I can add that her paternal grandmother Sofia Wilhelmina, daughter of the Swedish king Gustav IV Adolf (grand daughter of Gustav III) was born in the royal palace of Stockholm in 1801, 80 years before Victoria married crown prince Gustaf, the future Gustav V. The marriage in 1881 marks the "combination and reconciliation of the new and the old royal dynasties inj Sweden". The combination of the Bernadotte dynasty with older Swedish lines. As You mentioned Victoria was called the Vasa princess.
From 3:57 - 4:05 One sees the figure of Napoleon's brilliant Foreign Minister, Prince Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand, who had tried unsuccessfully to convince Napoleon to give favourable terms to Prussia, with an eye to make Prussia a future ally of France. Talleyrand, despite his reputation as wily and dangerous negotiator, was a most civilised man. He gave no indication of his personal disgust and anger at Napoleon's brutal behaviour not only to a vanquished nation, but outrage at Napoleon's personal insult to Louise, Queen of Prussia, who threw herself at Napoleon's feet to beg for mercy for her country. This was the moment when Talleyrand resolved that he would resign as Foreign Minister; and for the good of both France and Europe, actively conspire with Russia for Napoleon's downfall. When Napoleon left Queen Louise after their humiliating interview, Talleyrand raised the pregnant woman and sat with her speaking comforting words as she composed herself. Then he walked her to her carriage. He could say nothing of his resolve to bring down Napoleon, but deliberately let her see the tears in his eyes for both her and her country. She said to him that she knew that she and he were the only people who regretted her coming to Tilsit. His tears fell on her hand as he kissed it as he handed her into her carriage. Later, in 1814 at the Congress of Vienna, Talleyrand was the Ambassador of a defeated France. Though the Prussian delegation were officially hostile to France, Talleyrand personally was remembered for his kindness to their beloved queen (who had died in 1810, aged 34) and he was held in respect by all the German- speaking nations.
