Well... I didn't quite understand the question, but to clarify, anyone who plays this game knows that there are 3 transmission options (automatic, 4-speed manual and 7-speed manual). We also know that it is harder to deal with the AI's performance in automatic transmission than with 7-speed manual transmission. If you master the 7-speed manual transmission well, you won't have as much resistance from the AI because you have a lot of speed provided by the 7-speed manual transmission. So, I chose a middle ground, making things more difficult, but I have many other SMGP videos with other transmission choices, especially with 7-speed manual transmission (which is my favorite) and even with worse cars, like the Comet for example, so... to answer the question, yes 4-speed manual, but you will find videos with 7-speed manual as well. I intend to do something exploring the automatic transmission, but I have to confess that I really don't like this transmission very much 😅.

Yes! Because of the challenge I stayed in Minarae, but two victories would already be enough to get the car, I just had to accept Madonna's contract (and throw Asselin to Minarae). 🤣
Haha this may complicate things, but... as I said in another comment, from what I understand it is not enough to simply beat your rival, everything depends on variables such as the car you are in, your performance, your finishing position, the rival's position, how expressive your result is compared to your rival, etc. Based on this the AI studies and sees if you really deserve that car, that is why sometimes it takes 2, 3, 4 victories (or more), because everything ends up influencing (including losing), it is an interesting feature, because in the first SMGP it was enough to just win twice, but in SMGP 2 there are all these variables that make the game more interesting and challenging. 😊
@@AlternativeFrame_ Are you sure it's that complicated? I thought it was 2 wins for Class C, 3 for B and 4 for A, but my memory may be failing me. But I came in expecting you'd need 4 wins when you challenged a Class A. I think it's 4 for S too, but not sure.
@@Lorric101 Complicated is one way of saying it, but it's a little more complex than it seems. For example, just like I said in another comment, recording this video I followed the same "path" and challenged Benetton. I won in the USA and a great P2 in Brazil (with Benetton P5), and got Benetton after this. But unfortunately I had a shutdown and had to start all over again and on the second occasion, I didn't do so well in Brazil (like in this video) and things took a little longer to happen. If you have significant victories over your rivals, getting the car may happen sooner than expected, so it's not exactly a certain calculation of 2, 3, 4 victories, it depends a lot on these variables too... of course, the victory weighs a lot, I would say more than half of the "equation", but these other variables can also influence. That's why this game is so interesting. 😁
You can't imagine how much i love this game. I played it so much as a kid, the very long passwords, the career mode, the music... A part of my childhood is really minarae I prefered the Bestowal car btw i think

I feel exactly the same way, as a child I would stand still and watch the scenery on the tracks, listen to the sound, and imagine myself there... I don't know, it's magical. Even today I still look at these things, admire them, it always gives me a really good feeling and it's great to know that there are more people who appreciate this as much as I do, thanks for sharing this! By the way, I can't say which car is my favorite... I love all the colors, but maybe I have a certain preference for the Minarae because it was the first car I came into contact with and through it I got to know the game. I also really like the Madonna and the Zeroforce.

Hello! This was one of the changes from one game to the next. In SMGP 2, there are situations where only two wins are enough, sometimes three, four, etc. It's a bit random, but it all depends a lot on how expressive your result is compared to your rival, also considering your car. Based on this, the AI decides whether or not you deserve the car. I believe this is to make it harder for you to prove that you are really good and deserve that car, because sometimes it may have been a bit of luck or maybe because you kept "holding and blocking" your rival at all costs, so you have to do it all over again in the next race and you may not make it. It's a very interesting feature that I really liked. If you challenge Senna, you may have to win 5 or 6 times 😂. To give you an idea, while recording this video, if I remember correctly, I managed to get the Benetton after two races, because I managed to win in the USA and a great P2 in Brazil (with my rival in P5), but unfortunately I had an unexpected shutdown and had to start all over again 🤦♂️. And in this recording, I won in the USA, but I didn't do as well in Brazil as I did last time and things were more difficult from then on, anyway...that's the reason. 😉
When i was 7 i used to go Minarae to Dardan to May to Blanche to Losel to Bestowal to Tyrant to Millions to Orchis in the final 2 if I've led by a significant margin. 😅 Or I'd switch to Madonna if I have to build a stronger lead. All of that just to totally randomise the drivers of every team by the end of the season. 😂
Very good! I confess that my beginning in this game as a child was also a disaster, but little by little I got better and I always tried to get Tyrant because for me it is maybe the best car in the B Level (because of its top speed similar to Madonna and Firenze). Then I would try some car in the A Level... having Tyrant made everything easier, so I would randomly choose one or sometimes I would switch between them, the fact is that playing around switching cars was really cool. 😂
Is it possible to do it like the Olympics and give each driver a gold medal and declare a tie? Haha, but I have a hunch... I think Comet is a little worse, I've tried that countless times. Speaking like that, it seems like Orchis is good, but in reality it's also terrible, but with patience and respect for the car, you can manage the situation... but in Comet, the most annoying thing is that the car abandons you at key moments. I know exactly what you're saying! Let me share something with you: racing games are a passion for me. I grew up playing them. I even evolved into simulators, I have a cockpit, steering wheel, etc., and I can guarantee you one thing: no corner is as unpredictable as the one we're talking about. You never know how the car will "act" there, how it will slide, etc. No matter how much you mentally program yourself, it's never a certainty that things will go well there. It's always a challenge.
I still play this with sega emulator on my laptop...and a whole bunch of other sega games as well...Golden Axe, Brian lara cricket, mortal kombat, sonic, street fighter, and many more...sega's games were the best and i still find it hard to get soemthing like those in todays gen PS and Xbox and Wii n all
Just reading the names of the games you mentioned gave me a "warmth in my heart" ☺️. Over the years, of course, we end up getting to know other games, consoles, PC games, etc. But every now and then I always go back to playing the Mega Drive during vacations or even once in a while. Mega Drive has a specific challenge and that "captivates" me a lot.
I totally agree with you on this, this game is very special and advanced for its time, especially in the car setup, it is possible to change the car's behavior according to the different types of track and this helps a lot in the races, it is really a shame that it is such an underrated game.
Desculpe o atraso e obrigado pelo feedback! Pra ser honesto eu realmente não me lembro haha, mas não é a primeira vez que me perguntam isso e uns tempos atrás eu fiz a mesma trajetória com Firenze, ou seja, eu setei o Firenze e fui campeão, na temporada seguinte eu permaneci no Firenze mesmo sendo campeão (???), Ceara estava no Minarae e Asselin no Bullets. Asselin me desafiou várias vezes e se comportava normalmente, porém se você deixasse ele passar, acontecia um "bug" que ele pulava 15 segundos a sua frente. Depois disso testei com outro carro, não me lembro se foi Millions (talvez), e aconteceu a mesma coisa. No Comet eu me lembro apenas de ter ido para o Madonna, agora neste ponto não lembro os acontecimentos (prometo revisar isso e voltar neste comentário pra dizer o que acontece), mas não sei se tem diferença pelo fato do carro de grade A ter permanecido o mesmo e o de grade D ter permitido eu ir ao Madonna, veremos na revisão em breve. Moral da história, setar via GameGenie tem seus prós e contras, o comportamento do jogo em si é normal, é o mesmo em termos de primeira temporada, porém tira a "ordem das coisas" para segunda temporada, pois na maioria dos casos é como se após setar um carro ele sempre fosse seu carro (eu cheguei a fazer testes desafiando outros carros e na hora de obtê-los eu permanecia com o que eu setei). Existe também a possibilidade de obter os carros via password, mas é um tanto quanto complicado, pois é necessário que você termine a primeira temporada na posição que equivale ao determinado carro que deseja, por exemplo, para obter o Comet que é o 14° carro na ordem, eu teria que terminar o campeonato na 14ª posição, o que iria requerer muitas horas de dedicação... é realmente muito difícil esperar que o jogo faça as coisas por você, mas há heróis que já conseguiram esse tipo de façanha. Enfim, tentei esclarecer o máximo que pude, mas fico de revisar isso, pois é uma curiosidade minha também.
I remember renting the game once on a week-end back in like 1995 on my megadrive/genesis. Going world champion on first season easy peasy and this cat coming up and beating my ass fair and square leaving me hopeless on the second season.
If someone asked me to describe in my own words what the experience with this game was like, I would say exactly the same thing! Thank you for sharing your experience, I miss the 90s and renting games and movies, it was so magical.

Wow this takes me back! I broke a couple Sega Genesis controllers in my room out of frustration at this game back in 1995-96, back when I was in highschool. One of the most intense racing games ever. 😅

Me too! But with the Genesis/Mega Drive. It's one of the best racing games of the time in my humble opinion, the gameplay was very good and it's fun to play even nowadays.

@@c3kkos Oh yeah! Yes, the race in Brazil is really complicated, with slow cars, even if you don't crash, trouble will appear. Monaco is also a very difficult place to deal with, the last corners are a nightmare for slow cars too.
Well, as you may also know, most racing games used fictitious names due to copyright. I remember the SMGP series because it was one of the ones I played the most, but other games (especially focused on F1) I don't really remember either.

@@AlternativeFrame_ Apart from that one and some other hard tracks (Brazil, Japan, Monaco), you did good and had your share of good moments with nice manoeuvres (ex: escaping 3/4 drivers suddenly appearing in front with short time to react) and won the Championship that was the main goal at the start. And thanks for bringing this game so others can see what a gem it is. I love it so it was a "blast from the past" seeing it again.
