That is Nikon's original grip but it is only available in Japan. Totally beyond comprehension considering it fits perfectly in look and feel. I myself live in Belgium and bought one through the Buyee website. And therefore a lot more expensive and certainly in comparison with the other options, but I am happy with it.
I knew that trick already as a kid, except I used it on AA batteries that were impossible to remove! I recently had an electrician over and he saw my trick and it made him laugh because he never thought of doing that and he literally has to change batteries every single day. 😂
The way you have created videos, and your choice of cameras - Yashica Electro 35, Nikon ZF, Fujifilm GFX 50R gave me an impression that you are a man of good taste (aesthetics). Then I searched your name in Google, and saw that you are designer. So, I wasn't wrong.
@@alainmonnens I think, I am the same. A good photographer is the one who has sense of aesthetics. One who has sense of aesthetics will look for, and be critical about it in everything he sees around. Also, if a camera is beautiful, you feel like holding it more. There are many 'so called' photographers who say that they don't care how their cameras look, and that a camera is just a tool to shoot photos. Their photos too usually are not good enough :) It's just an observation.
@@StellarPhotography Good observation and well described. I am also convinced that these things cannot be seen separated. I am currently on holiday but I am already curious to see your work when I be back home.
Hello, on Amazon they say that it is for the 28mm and 40mm Z series, but do you think it can be used on any other lens that has a 52mm thread? For example, on the AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
I have the black Zfc with the Nikon grip as well, ordered from Japan. Really fits perfectly, and it’s not obvious that it’s separate for the camera. When I upgrade to Zf, I will definitely get this one as well.
With my reader, I don't have any problems. Depends of course on the reader and how far the card needs to be inserted. It is then important to position the tape so that it is not blocked in the slot of the reader.
My ZF does not have this problem; after pressing, the memory card extends enough to be taken by my fingers. On the other hand, I don’t see any particular need to take out the card often, since the files recorded on it can be quite easily managed from a PC via a USB-C cable connection. But thank you for the idea presented in the video!
If you have the hand grip with arca-swiss plate the SD card will be hard to take out. I always take the card out and use my card reader. So this video helps a lot.
It's the Haoge Metal Lens Hood for Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 and Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE) Lens, compatible with 52mm UV Filters and 52mm Lens Cap. I also made a video of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-peUx7TKhw14.html 😉
That's not necessary and has never been a problem for me. Push the card into the slot and then let it snap back, it comes out a little further than if you do it like in the video and you can easily grab it. And it doesn't fly out. So 90% of all so-called hacks are completely unnecessary.
Camera with mounted L-bracket or grip need this. In my case snap-out method results flying card around. You may loose it. But also may ruin your lock mechanism what happened to me. So this is great at Sony A6xxx when bracket mounted. But you are free to choose this or "cursing hand-book".😄
Yes you can download the picture from the Zf via USB-C. With the grip, it is difficult for my fingers to get the SD card out. Nikon obviously doesn't know the size of my fingers 😉
There are some reasons to remove the SD cards instead of using a cable: 1st: Card reader is more fast 2nd: I have a bad experience with Nikon flaps - so I protect them - I do not know if they need to remove the skin of the camera if they change flaps - and I have a colored one - a grey ZF (and is not sure that you will get back a colored one if you send the camera in Service) 3rd: I am using different cards with different saved settings (different settings for MF lenses eg on that case the back button is 100% zoom, while on the other card I have settings for AF lenses eg the back button is 3D tracking), so it is important for me to be able to change cards.
I recently purchased the Zf-GR1 through eBay, mainly to compare it with my SmallRig Zf Grip, although both Grips are decent, I found the Smallrig grip better when using long or heavier Lens, but feel that the smallrig grip might discolor Nikon Zf Cameras that are Colored, on the other hand, the Real Right Stuff Universal L-Bracket will also fit on the SmallRig Grip, whereas it Will Not fit on the Zf-GR1 Grip. The Zf-Gr1 Grip in my opinion fits the Zf Camera much better than the Smallrig Grip, but the bump on the Grip needs to be a little bigger if you want to use a heavier lens, discoloration is not a concern with the Zf-GR1 as the part of the Grip that contacts the Camera Bump is aluminum.
Thanks for your comprehensive response. I also don't think the Zf-GR1 is most functional, ergonomic grip, but in terms of the look and feel is the best option for me right now.
Me too :-)) That hack is not necessary and has never been a problem for me. I don't understand that either, given the Zf popularity and the design is a big part of it. Personally, I think many would prefer and buy the original grip. Which makes Nikon miss out on a potential sale, doesn't it? Or are they too expensive to make and there is too little profit on this grip?
No I just checked Nikon ZF grips are also available in the UK with Park Cameras, Wax Photo Video and other camera stores. It's called the SmallRig Grip for NIkon ZF in UK. Probably you haven't looked properly at your local Nikon website.
@@dominic213w Indeed the SmallRig is available in Europe, but it is not the same as the one made by Nikon as shown in the video, different design and materials.
@@alainmonnens I think that's probably because Europeans aren't that interested in cameras compared to East Asia. Nikon didn't bring it over there because it would be very expensive. Indeed this Nikon Zf-GR1 is a higher end product with a better finish.
The others certainly do their job too, and depending on the size of your hand, one may be a better fit over the other. But visually, the original fits the most on the Zf body.
@@alainmonnens Wow, this surprised me. I tried it with LR44 batteries, but it ran out relatively quickly, even though I didn't use the camera. When you're not using the camera, do you take the battery out or leave it in? Thanks for the quick response!
@@akosreizinger1542 These batteries have been in there since then and have never been removed. Although that might be better if the camera is not used for a longer period of time.
The adapter keeps the batteries in line and in place. It is a 3D file you can download for free and have it printed, costs next to nothing. Of course, you can also make something out of paper to compensate for the difference in diameter.
From Spain. Many thanks for the opportunity to help us with this project. I give you 10 points. 😅🤔. Maybe in the future I will buy this model. Good idea for everyone. Thanks again.
I just got back from vacation and see your message. Are you sure you have inserted the batteries in the correct position in the camera? Perhaps the smallest battery is inserted upside down. Could you let me know if this is the problem? Greetings Alain
