@@Oldtimemusiclover this is amazing. I have over 1.000 78s and must be 1.000 cylinders. I started collecting when I was 12 - 24 years ago. Covering from all the eras with ,78s. Cylinders the earliest I have are brown wax from 1898 and very late Blue Amberol cylinders from 1929.
@@Oldtimemusiclover I've just realised I've seen you play banjo ukulele on the George Formby page. I am part of the society and help out in the band on keyboard where we meet in Blackpool. This is incredible the same interests. You have some incredible cylinders and 78s!
When he was on top of his game. The trade mark smile was now perfected - he'd been coached to flash it to the camera in the 4th bar of a tune. Sad that later life turned out to be difficult for him but his great compositions Side Saddle , Roulette and China Tea will always live on !
@@GramophonicReevolution hi Paul. Thanks mate. This was cut on one of the blanks that come with the Gakken. The material is like a CD jewel case material.

Hey Andy. Thanks mate. I've heard your polyurethane 78s and they sound incredible, no surface noise. I have never seen a record cutter from the 40s 50s around these parts for sale, wood love to find one. Love your videos
@@matthewrichards88 thank you very much . 😊 no the old typ cutters are a bit thin on the ground . But allways on the look out for them . Keep up the good work 👏
I had a Sony KA2ES, and I eventually started using Dolby S for everything, especially Type 1's. Unfortunately, I no longer have that deck. A misguided misadventure in trying to calibrate the thing to work better with BASF Type 1's ended up making it so that the calibration no longer worked with ANY tape. It's been in the shop for a while, and nothing's been done to it, so I'm probably going to yank it out and take it elsewhere.
Wish I could play like this..however.. notice the time is slightly unsettled, unlike Russ Conway who is right in the groove, solid!? To repeat however, I can not play this at all.
Very nice & announced too. Here's another indestructable, but in this case pirated: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zOey0QPFsdU.htmlsi=tWwU7me5EYouZ6Hi
78 RMP were made out of Shellac wich is a bug secreted resin. They are very abrasive therefore you need a stylus that is adapted 3.0 mil type. If you use smaller stylus, the disc will play but you will destroy the stylus for the LP. Here's a video explaining it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3-UMs5kvNVQ.html
really clever stuff man, but solenoid, its more pronounced sol-i-noid (said quickly)... I'm Jamaican and I trying my best to preserve the (my/our) english language 😉... regardless thanks for sharing
Thank you , Matthew, my Nan had a pye radiogram she bought new , in the early 50's, gave it to my mum in the 70's so l remember it well , that mellow , rich sound ! , also Apple blossom time was my nan& grandads song! .
In answer to your comment about Ronette cartridges - around 40 years ago I bought two mono Ronette cartridges brand new from my local electrical retailer. One of them I fitted to my Dansette Major and the other I still have unused in its original box. It’s a red and black box with a diamond pattern printed on each side. On one end is printed DC-284 OV 5360. The Dansette is still going strong with its ‘new’ cartridge…
I always like some of the background instruments to this song on the stage performance a Spotify song doesn’t have better with its flow of harmony quicker pace. I love this harmonious tune and his works. :)
Hi, I use a pathe gramophone with sapphire pin to listen to these records. With which not sapphire pin is it possible to listen to these records? I would love to listen to it exactly as in the video. Thank you
Wow you achieved great results with the Gakken. Did you emboss this disc? I currently have mine set to emboss, been trying a few other mods too. Anyways, subscribed, hope to see more. Piano sounds great with the lofi, slightly wobbly texture.
