We're an Irish/Folk trio called House of Hamill, based in Pennsylvania. We love making videos of Irish tunes, random covers on violin and other creative projects. Like and subscribe to see all of our latest videos :)
I love this music!!! I just wish folks and the band themselves would realize they are Americana! Not Irish Not Celtic. This is new Age AMERICANA NEWGRASS and it's absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
@@Joe-rr2vf It is absolutely a Celtic mining song. Comes from County Durham North east England near Northumberland. That area is filled with Celt history. The song was made famous by Dick Gaughn. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JlQfHpujIW4.html Tell me that's not Celtic. I still love House of Hamill's New Grass version just as much as I love Dick Gaughn's Scottish version.
@@Joe-rr2vf Technically no it's in the UK Scotland buffer zone. ;)But look at the history of Ed Pickford's song. It was brought forward from obscurity by Scotsman Dick Gaughn. That's who I heard play it first. I also heard it from Irish players Liz Carroll and John Doyle. For years I've heard it done by them and other Scots and Irish. Then I hear it from an American band as a Newgrass rendition. House of Hamill has created a masterpiece of Newgrass which I had only heard done in Celtic style and they did it without trying to sound like Celts. I find that aspect very tasteful.
Very nice song, well performed. I realize that a video such as this uses a studio recorded soundtrack, but it would feel more complete if the banjo player was included in the video.
Lou this is excellent,i want to learn to play like this, where do i get the tabs for this. I hadnt heard of you before now. Now im a fan. Do you have any dvds or cds. You are all immense
The melody and talent here is timeless....my grandmother from Kilkenny loved this song...for her it WAS Ireland....the light blond girl, the first singer, is a classic beauty.
