Competition Katas.. awesome, very aesthetic but far from real kata, and thats the problem, today most of the dojos they only show this kind of katas (competition moves) instead of the original, so its normal that the senseis today just doing kihon bunkai all the time instead of studying the real bunkais behind every technique. hugs from Spain (3rd Dan Shito and Goju Ryu here)
this was much better as Sanseiru on the same tournament, however still unbelievable how Sandra improved later. Here she was 34 and she was much much better in 2018/2019, not mentioning olympic games and WCH 2021
Gosh, I can hardly believe this was Sandra. Quite many technical issues, much worse kime, no hips use. Crazy how she was able later to improve (although she became European Champion in that year - 2015)
There are ĀNAN versions in some Shitō-ryū lineages, especially those derived from Sōke Teruo Hayashi and Shogo Kuniba. Hayashi-ha Shitō-ryū, Kuniba-kai, Inoue-ha Shitō-ryū... However, I don't think there are "official" Shitō Kai versions of Ryūei ryū Kata.
I thoguht Ngan won (aince I thought she has never lost) but after seeing these katas even they were both extreme high level I would judge Shimizu a ittle higher and she actually won. Did Ngan compete ever againg after her knee injury?
