Hey, I'm Lotoya! I’ve been to 38 countries 👣 I make videos about travel, locs and designing a life of happiness.
I figured out when I was pretty young that I would never truly be happy with a typical 9-5.
At 22, I moved to Japan to teach English and since 2012 I’ve worked remotely with stints as a digital nomad in Europe, South America and Africa. I live in Toronto.
Wow! So much to soak in. I’m glad you’re on the path of your healing journey. Everything in life is a lesson, just make sure you learned from it. Stay focused and soar 🫶🏾🙌🏾❤
Hey! The resort is only 15-20 mins from the airport. I walked A LOT, and also used taxis. I didn't do many activities outside of the resort - it was a trip for rest.
Since you’re in the early stages you should be super careful with oils. It’s less about them taking longer to loc and more about them unravelling. I would use mostly water with a very small amount of the oils in the bottle and just lightly mist. Also double check with your loctician in case there are any particular characteristics of your hair that you need to account for
@kelliesigh3938 this is how I moisturize my hair (when my life isnt crazy busy lol): Sisterlocks Journey | How To Moisturize Sisterlocks, Dreadlocks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZUjyK9HvH7s.html
Dang lol I've already been to Costa Rica solo and iceland in a group (altho I was off doing my own thing alot) . I'm looking for something I can do in the next 3 months, I can't swing Japan yet lol
Hi there, thank you for the video. Your locs are beautiful. I’m in year 2 of my locs and colored them for the first time since having them about 6mths ago, but because I started adding conditioner to help with the dryness, it started unraveling my locs, so I am going thru a repair. I appreciate you sharing your daily moister routine and I plan to start it myself. How much of each oil do you use in your mixture?
You are so welcome! 🫶🏾 I show the amounts in this video: Sisterlocks Journey | How To Moisturize Sisterlocks, Dreadlocks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZUjyK9HvH7s.html
your hair is so beautiful! have you ever had to deal with holes in your locs? what did you do to fix them, and did you find that they affected your locs journey if you didn't?
This was a fun your sis ! You’ve inspired me to take a more gentle & consistent approach to handling my locs and they’re thriving ever since I followed your conditioning example… even bought off your link the same one with the bluish label. ❤
Yay!!! So so happy to hear all of this sis! I've come a long way on my hair journey and I'm so happy that sharing what I've learned has inspired you in some way. You made my day - appreciate you ❤❤❤
I love your locs! I especially love how you promote the message of self acceptance. I find it all so relatable. I’m curious to know what you do if you’re swimming in chlorine water while on vacation? Do you shampoo your hair after every swim?
Thanks so much for watching and I LOVE that the message resonates with you! When I'm swimming in chlorine water I definitely wash after if I'm not wearing one of these amzn.to/3XqmEo1.

Lol, thank you! I have sisterlocks but honestly microlocs give you the same look for a fraction of the price. I talk about that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j6mhcry_Gps.html
I use wrap a locs tool. They are like silicone coated pipe cleaners. Don’t have to deal with metal snags. Also lock loops are like sponge rollers for locks. I use mousse or Sisterlocks setting lotion and sit under a dryer. With my hair length i need a holding product. But the curls are pretty
It looks really good. That’s a good idea. Just keep it braided braided leg and go out in the community. Take it down when you feel like it. I put no heat on my hair thank you for that idea. I’ll just keep it braided or twisted five days six days whenever I feel like taking it out thank you for the information.
@@angelahamm-xn2kg it’s a permanent hair style. I have seen a few videos of people pulling out their locs but I don’t know anything about it and my locs cant be pulled out ☺️
My cousin had locs for years. Now she is bald headed from them. Locs and braids are not always good for years. They ruin edges of Black women hair and they are very expensive to maintain. That is why so many African Americans women are ending with no hair. Weaves are just has bad because they are expensive to maintain properly. All these African Americans hair stylists need to find a remedy and help their clients keep their hair. Just sad. Tired of looking at all these ads on social media about how healthy locs braids and weaves are.
I'm sorry that happened to your cousin but that is one experience. I have multiple senior family members that have had their locs from their youth without issues. I've had my locs for over a decade. It's very individual. Certain medications, lifestyle, hair types, maintenance, etc all play a role in what happens so generalizations don't work in this case
I was just about to make the same comment, my sister in law’s cousin is balding from sister locs. I think they can look nice for a while but I know a few women who have them and are thinning or have a receding hairline.
@@MsJacksonTravels So sorry for the late response I was at work. All of a sudden my hair started thinning in the front area locs fell out in the middle part of a loc. I really like my hair but I am getting frustrated and thinking about cutting it. I really like the color of your hair, before I saw you’re I thought about getting a color similar to your and now I caunt because of the problem I am having. I wish I could get some help.
My fathers parents were from St Ann Jamaica he got 88% African(49%nigerian) and 12% European(All Scotland) my mom is half Jamaican half st Lucian I got 89% African 11% Europe
Thank you for sharing. I’m very interested in doing this after my recent trip to Ghana. My trip to Ghana left like I returned home but I am from Jamaica. I don’t know if my ancestors came from Ghana specifically but I’m very curious to do the DNA test to see the results. Your hair looks amazing!!
I’ve been binge watching your videos and I just wanted to stop and say you are soo beautiful! Your hair and skin are gorgeous and glowy! The color and length of your locs almost reminds me of Halle playing the Little Mermaid 🥰 I love watching loc videos since I started my own loc journey about 4 months ago but your voice and calm vibe makes watching your videos so relaxing! Anyway just wanted to share that! Peace and love to you! 🫶🏾💕
