Where im installing the latch pin? Its the hardy board siding. I think its half inch thickness but the 2x6 is at the bottom so screws go through and into that.
@@AllHomeDIYDad In your video you are installing a wood piece on the back of the left door so when the right door shuts it will hit up against the left door once you latch it closed( left door as if you are standing in front of the shed looking at your doors). What size is that board? Sorry about the confusing questions.
@@wadekruse4462 ohhh!!! Sorry! Its just a peice of scrap wood I had. Anything will work that is 1/2” thick or more by about 3.5” or more wide. Just something to screw in to stop the other side from going in too far and keeping them flush
How did you hook up the camera to your tablet? That’s a great way to check before installing. Did you just buy a cord that has a USB-C end on it and RJ45 on the other end? And then from there you just open whatever app the camera is? I’m still learning all of this.
Great question. What I did was have a separate long ethernet cord that I plugged into the camera and then to my internet and connected it to my system before fully installing so that I can hold it up a d view it on the app. So its basically installing it before fully attaching it to the soffit. Can only do it if you have enough extra ethernet cord to make it from your poe switch to the location of instal. Does that make sense at all? Feel like I didnt answer that very well
Nice garden! Is that how much 50 of those would cost you in your neck of the woods? Or are you factoring in labor as well? A price of $600-$800 per tree seems rather high. I've seen them in 15-gallon pots for about $55 at a nursery out West. They were about 5 to 6 feet in height.
Great job with the crucial 1st year ! Now you want to stop watering in short durations and start with one longer water period. The idea, especially with these plants that are known for tipping over in storms, is training the root system to go deep, which is what the longer irrigation spells spaced with periods of dryness will do. Often and short watering will only produce roots at the surface.
Ahead of you Craig!!! Starting last year (year 2) I did maybe 1-3 waters per week depending on weather for much longer duration. Along with periodically fertilizing with Milorganite. A couple are 5ft tall!!
@@AllHomeDIYDad Perfect ! One thing the general public doesn't know is that all trees shouldn't be fertilized regularly with a nitrogen base. The growth spurt you got isn't wanted, { it will lead to disease later on.} Slow & steady is what you want. A light application of Osmocote in the spring is all ya need. Making these plants grow fast will lead to toppling in the years to come. { Also, pruning is essential for building a strong frame for taller privacy.}
@@craigathonian so you dont recommend continued fertilization with Milorganite? If I do it every couple months from april to september for the life of the tree that wont be good? Is going from 18” to 4-5’ in 2.5 years too fast?
@@AllHomeDIYDad Yes, This species is known for having a small root system and fast top growth...which leads to toppling of the whole plant, or limbs breaking in storms. Especially in a single row, Regular shape pruning will force the tree to grow a candelabra framework which is stronger and at the same time force the tree to grow roots. Try looking for a fertilizer that contains more phosphorus and potassium than nitrogen. Look for "bloom Booster" fert's which has a higher "phosphorus" center number out of the 3 number codes on labels. With that all that's needed is a spring application. { For trees, Nitrogen in mediocre amounts is like humans having too much sugar...it will always lead to sickness in the long run.}
Hey there Is this emerald or plicata atrovirens? I want to start a project like this with the ones you have and columnaris lawson to mix colors. Can you help me out with this so i won't mess up? Keep up the Good work, they are huge
Mine are emerald. No closer than 2.5’ apart if in a line and full sun and watering and fertilizing. If doing staggered then do wider. Putting a drip line is is key and fertilizing often
One door would be wayyyy too big and have to swing open way away. Would be obnoxious. I used to have the one top open roll up door. Those work fine. Mine broke. Like opening a door much better than pulling it open.
If you don't like the satin of the stone gray spray you could probably spray some matte varnish over it. I want to make one of these, so some good tips in here. I've used those small plastic skulls before. I used them for embedding in foam gravestones, and for making the tops spooky fence posts. They're pretty easy to cut and work with.
Hi! Great question. So it all depends on the weather. Its usually cold around halloween where I live in MN. So the chillbox doesnt have as big of an effect because it hard to get the fog cooler than the air temp when it comes out of a heated up machine. But its suppose to lay lower to the ground and not dissipate so quickly when it is chilled. Better effect. More spooky. More fun. The warmer it is outside the better the chiller will work. With no chiller it will still look cool but the fog will rise up and disappear faster as it will be warmer than the air. Hope that helps
Thanks for your quick answer. I will definitely try and build a version of this! I guess you dont put the smoke/fog machine inside the coffin because of heat/fire safety? My problem is that here we usually have like 45 F and rain... Maybe put the smoke machine under a roof and use a long pipe to the coffin?
@@chra186 yes I have same issue. I put it behind the coffin and put a little cover over it in case of rain. You could run a pipe but its not as effective with the fan pushing the fog and air through that pipe to the coffin. Wont come out as strong
Must be a different arb. These get 5ft wide so why would you want 8-10 ft for a privacy hedge. 2.75’ apart and will be nice solid hedge. If I had no watering system and not a lot of sun I would do it different.
How long would you say this takes to install, say if a handyman installed it? I would like to do it myself but the apartments said I have to use a professional.
This is the most informative video of the process I've seen so far! I've tried to overthink this so many times for a setting for my daughter and been up in the loft but the problem I have is the loft has boards down so you can't see the pilot hole tool looking through and I'm kinda scared about placing weight on our joists (1925 UK semi). Don't know why when we have a chin up bar in a door way under the same ceiling that my partner uses just fine! Anyway, my daughter butted her head on her ceiling the other week on top of her high sleeper bed and now there's a small hole there so I'm inclined to start investigating with more pilot holes again as we have to fill that hole anyway. If I ever manage to install one of these I'll come back and let you know!
Go for it! Whats the worth that happens? You put in a hole that needs to be patched? And im sure your joists can handle the kids weight if done properly. Also if you have the ability, you can place a 2x board in the attic across a few rafters and use lags to fasten to the rafters to spread the weight out over a few vs just the one!! Thanks for the positive feedback!
Great question. It will still come out but it will be much harder to come oitnif it was over tightened with a drill. I would suggest using the allen key but maybe get an adjustable wrench and attach it to the end of the allen key to give more leverage when loosening it. Remember lefty loosey righty tighty.
I appreciate your concern. This cover is year round. ASTM safety certified auto cover. Rated for thousands of pounds. Retracts open and closed in 20-30 seconds. Closed whenever we are not outside. We also have a child gate from house. And live on dead end cul de sac. No one in our community has fences. All covers.
You can order a new roll up door thru Home Depot for 410.00 delivered to the store. I just did. It is quite simple to put together and install, much less labor than building one. Don't get me wrong, I like the wood doors too. I just wanted to share another option for some of your viewers. You can order the door in any color at no extra charge. I ordered a 4x6'8" for 410.00 I like your shed btw👍
A good option! I could not find one there that fit my dimensions and my wife hates the roll up. Also dont like how it sits inside the frame. Moisture gets onto the plywood bottom all the time.
@@AllHomeDIYDadI poured a slab for mine. Yeah it wouldn't be as good for a plywood deck. I built mine 12x16. Knowing where the door would go I put a very slight slope to that area.
Lol you must not know much about pool chemistry. You realize the “water” you drink likely went through several thousand other peoples digestive systems right?!? Its all treated. Filtered. Balanced etc lol
Its closer to 7 months. We are in MN. Cant swim from early to mid October to early to mid may unless you want to heat your pool every single day just to swim when its 55 degrees out and 40 at night. Part of living in the north
Looks pretty nice to me my only question is are you doing that for personal preference or do your neighbors suck ? Will be really sick though when the trees grow up
Well neighbors are great. We are just too close and its nice to have privacy at the pool. They come over to swim with their kids. But they also have stuff in their yard often from kids and so nice to have a visual barrier at time to have a calm space
