Yep that's right. Would be better if i used a lighter primer like white or light grey but black was all i had when i painted it. But i got the tone that i wanted anyways at the end.

Yes it could. Just thin it out more if you're still getting brush marks. Test painting on a spare piece is also a great idea before painting on the actual figure.
Only when possible. But i do mask when needed. Check out the Supergirl video on this channel, it might shed some light on how to paint without masking.
For me,i think the skin texture is overdone! And i'm surprise that you didn't take the face that seriously! I mean,it's good but,it's not the best compared to the body(the detailing on the skin)
