Welcome to my channel. Dedicated to experimentation and dedicated to creating some of the best videogates the CB radio and Amateur radio community has to offer.
Good Day! VA3VMD (I'm the 3khz Audio guy in the video). I am running Remote Operation approx. 66km from my Operating station. I am using a Blue Yeti Podcast mic and the BlueVoice EQ Software on my LapTop across the Internet to my IC-7610, Mercury LUX and EndFed Antenna. Thanks for the AWESOME recording. I'll take that any day running Remote. 73..Vito (VA3VMD)
Good day Vito. Excellent sounding audio and thanks for your gear explanation. I would have never guessed your were running remote on a lap top! I have the ANAN G2-1K on order but if that falls through I am considering the Mercury LUX. Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer! 73 sir
Great recording and thanks this! was sent the video by a local ham friend of mine tonight. Hermes lite 2, Heil PR40 direct into HL2 with companion board, xlr to 3.5mm trs no external audio gear, all audio is internal in Thetis, TX EQ and CFC, made a custom 4k wide profile for the PR40. Thanks again and 73's from VE3DAG
No problem at all sir! I was all tuned up and ready to jump in but I didn't want to bust up the party. Thanks for the run down of your gear. It never ceases to amaze me how incredible Thetis is and great job on the Thetis only audio tools. Inspiration to many people I am sure of. On my end, I always do my best to match my receive filter to the other stations TX filter in order to capture their audio as accurately as possible. Very important to me! Keep up the good work and I'll catch you on the band. 73 sir.
I have a few Cobra 148’s and sounds awesome with the hifi mods but my Uniden Grant LT’s receive blows the cobra 148 out the water for some reason it’s one of the best receivers I’ve heard besides my Hermes Lite 346 BYU waving
Hello my friend. Got to say that old cobra was certainly doing it's thing . Sounding excellent on my head phones . Was the cobra modded by you ? Or really by someone else ? 😂. 73s bud WR456 🇬🇧
Thank you sir, that means a lot to me. I know I can be, how shall I say, an odd creative character lol. But at least I'm open an honest and try to put a smile on peoples faces in the weary world we live in.
Wow, I need to listen with headphones but, compared to the ANAN, it sounds great. I’m going to have to pull my HL2 back out and start playing with it again. Thanks!
@@GettowayDriverSoCal That's a bummer. I'd love to see some new videos from you. And by the way, here ya go bud. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ILpsXS15im0.html
Hey 131 hope all is well down your way. It does make it easy. Most of those pre-set profiles sound good they way they are. Excellent for folks who don't want to start from scratch. Starting from scratch can be quite daunting for anyone new to audio processing. I wish I had this years ago when I got back into radio.
Yes sir! Everything about Thetis is phenomenal. Maybe I'll make one more video on a more realistic AM band pass, like 5kc. I'm trying to get more people interested in Thetis, ANAN, and Hermes.
Thank you for this video and the effort it took to produce it. Look forward to the next video where you tweak a profile or two. I do like the SSB 2.8+CFC + DX as a base. BTW I run a G2 with the RE27ND. Nice Job Art W1SWL
Hello sir. I wonder if a setting must have been unchecked in the update. If you have receive audio in either of the sideband modes, toggle between sideband and AM and watch your screen for any changes. That happened to me once. For some reason my VAC was OFF in AM mode and ON in sideband. My eye noticed the change when toggling between AM and sideband.
K-PizzlePro* has to be one of the best revamped profiles. Very happy with the quality. Wish you aired the playbacks of the before and after, but I understand why. Very cool and awsome you do these information videos!
No problemo bud! Conditions were finicky with that fading rolling across. You can see it in the spectral display but especially in the waterfall. I had to chuckle seeing your signal booming at 20dB but the rest of the band was flat line lol. Love that reverb and always have BTW. Very unique sounding. That swang is doing its thang! Sounding great as usual 131.
No problem my friend. Ya, at 15-20 over that's when you can hear all of the fine details of your audio and anyone else's audio. And yes, you sound very sweet! You got it dialed in for sure.
Hello Tony. I use a single Sonitus compressor near the beginning of my audio chain and a Sonitus multiband (5 bands) near the very end of my audio chain. Both compressors I use very sparingly. Once in a while I will use the Thetis compressor and that as well I use very sparingly at around 2dB.
I like the station monitor. I spend time doing AM mainly on 40m and 75m but have been lacking a way to fine tune my modulation with my Hermes Lite2. I looked up REA and book marked them, once I get my amp I will punch the button. Thanks for the video.
@@KP68videogates That would be great! The Hermes is picking up interest from AMI with several of us using them and showing the boat anchor crowed that they do indeed make a nice AM radio. My setup is very simple with the Hermes into a XPA125B amp and just using the built in Thetis EQ (that I am still fiddling with).
@@JReed305 Yes indeed they make a nice AM radio. I have heard some operators using nothing but Thetis audio tools (EQ and CFC) and they sound great. Although I'll always use my Cakewalk by Bandlab audio processing, I too am fiddling with the Thetis audio tools. Some fellas use a combination of both.
Ha ha! Well hopefully I'll be around for a while. I'm still screwing things up lol. I guess if I screw things up a little less each time I'm on the right track.
10kc SSB on a regular basis? My man, I'm coming out to hang out with you guys! I'm packing my things and headed your way! For the 11 meter fellas, roll the VFO to the very top of a CB channel, switch to LSB, and open up TX filter to 10kc. 10kc of audio all on 1 CB channel.
@@KP68videogates Hey, we'd love to have ya. Talking between you and me on 10m would be a rarity as we're too close but sometimes it does happen briefly.
No I haven't. I don't expect it anytime soon. From what I hear it's one delay after another at Apache Labs. It's been 5 months so far. Oh well, at least I'm in no hurry. I sure will make a video on it soon as it comes in and I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for stopping by sir.
Yes sir. Yet another thing great about Thetis is that if something isn't quite right for you or if something is seemingly awry, there is a high probability that there is a setting that can be changed or adjusted.
Hello sir. I noticed that only occasionally and I also noticed it when my AGC gain slider was set high (at or below the band noise floor) where I would be receiving a high amount of white noise while trying to talk to a distant station whos signal was mixed in with the noise floor. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until this weekend when it was bothering the crap out of me lol. Not all Thetis users may experience this because of the many ways receive audio can be routed. As far as if it was always present or not, I cannot be sure. There could be a setting in Thetis to mute the audio faster on key up but since the RF delay worked for me, I did not investigate the matter any further.
Thank you sir. In this profile I used a noise gate, Sonitus 6 band parametric EQ's, a couple of Cakewalk mastering plugins, and some compression. I tossed it all together rather quickly for my friend so he could have a starting point and to get on the air right away. And yes, the Heremes lite 2 is and Thetis is amazing!
