I've been a YG fan since I started getting into kpop and I've noticed all these years that YG artists almost always cover YG artists. They always use senior artists' song as "training ground" for new artists. Just something nice to know probably. Anyway, thanks for reacting to Baemon.
I think we were all scared initially. Bastien has a more “poppy” voice so maybe that will take them another direction but it might be really good. We’ll have to see how that goes. I think he has a good voice. He blended right in with the boys. I understand he used to be with the group a long time ago so it will be fine I think. Good one!
YG choosed Blackpink songs because They are Babymonster's inspiration as Blackpink make themselves Biggest girl group Also Blackpink are their senior mentors & they are family(sisters)
They did a great cover of one of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs. Bastien's voice was perfect for the lead. Everyone sounded awesome in the background vocals, Rob with his bluesy sound, Tim's bass & Adam's vocal percussion. Looking forward to more of the new songs with the newest member.
Bastien chose this song to be introduced to the Home Fries. I like the jazzy bluesy sound to this song. It's different and has given Home Free a shot in the arm. Expect the Unexpected. Adding Bastien to the group could take them in directions we have not even considered. This is a Bonnie Raitt cover which Home Free has not done before. Great reaction.
The gentleman on the couch looked like the singer Mark Wills, I believe. Home Free did a music video with him for a song called " Don't Laugh at Me" for anti-bullying week. The first blond they showed looks like the wife in the latest " Champagne Taste " video but I don't know her name. I was told that High note was Bastien and that Chance was trying to get Rob to laugh during rehearsal and then left it in the video for fun. The " Home Away from Home " videos are fun and addictive! Glad you are doing them.

I don't fault you for not recognizing jiwoo, she and kyujin are basically twins 😭. At the start people keep confusing her for Kyujin but not the other way around, that's why she and Kyujin often don't get the same hairstyles anymore, Jiwoo even dyed her hair for the recent comeback
Lisa have many voices and she have beautiful youthfull texture to her voice and she still have several voices she have not use in her performances. Lisa is still holding back in her singing.
Babymonster not only cover Blackpink song, they did 2ne1 songs too for the dance performance. So it's wrong if people said YG just try to make Babymonster as a Blackpink 2.0. Like u know right how many YG's GG? YG just have 2 (2ne1 & Blackpink), so who's senior that they're cover if YG just have 2ne1 & Blackpink? 😭 of course they will cover those 2 groups.

Each survival show on every agency usually will make the trainee to cover the senior's song. If u watch A2K (JYP Ent survival show), the trainees did Twice, Stray Kids, & ITZY songs. If u watch YG TREASURE BOX (YG survival show for their boygroup) also they did a lot of BIGBANG, IKON, even Blackpink song (STAY). For us it's a usual thing & at the time (last evaluation release) there's no fan war at all because they covered Blackpink. The fan wars will always there for no reason, it's up to us for give our attention to their comments or not. But 1 thing that must u know, at that time there's no fan war because they're did Blackpink cover, Blink's are so welcome because it's just agency's thing. It's such a big deal because Blackpink is the biggest GG that's why for some people, they thought YG trying to make Babymonster as a Blackpink 2.0. But it's not like that 😂

yg is not making them like a bp 2.0 this is part of the process of their selection as babymonster where they're required to sing & dance bp songs, its called blackpink mission in which they're individually evaluated after. if you can watch the entire last evaluation you consisting of 8 episodes you will understand more.
@@ehmzeess I definitely don’t think babymonster is a blackpink 2.0 just to be clear. They’re both completely different groups and both amazing and talented. But I was just saying how I wish they wouldn’t have them do blackpink songs because fanwars can be started that way and I’ve seen it because a few people (maybe one person I don’t know) in my comments are trying to bring Lisa and Rosé down just to bring up Asa and Ruka and it’s just like why are you doing that. Like people just need to stop hating others just to bring their faves up. It’s not fair. Kpop just brings out the worst in a lot of people and it sucks because a lot of other people are so kind and sweet like I’ve seen in a lot of my comments. So I’m going to keep speaking my mind no matter what. They chose Scars to Your Beautiful themselves out of 35 songs. I think it was a great choice. They all have better taste than the producers 😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤.
The whole first assignment (Gone, Stay, Don't Know What to Do) was Blackpink themed. I think it was for SEO purposes so people would notice them at all (it was first in the episodes). And I think it did backfire exactly as you said it could (for some people). Not me because I didn't know about them at all before hand. xD
i dont think it backfired...tbh...it got people curious...and i already expected it the moment they will debut they will be compared to BP...they are a rookie group...even the company is still experimenting on their sound which is why all their releases have been completely different each time....and as the years go by they will have a very diverse discography and eventually find their color...much like BP being compared to 2NE1 on their debut but went on to do great things...its the YG DNA in stilled in the foundation during training period.
Rora has had the least amount of killing points in the current releases by Babymonster, hasn't done solo stuff, and hasn't done anything in the fan meetings that is too different from what she did on any given track. I'm hopeful for her getting recognition after the full album. Her vocal tone is very good and her vibrato is the most controlled I've seen in a long time. Her tone has been showcased a bit but not really the vibrato yet. Vibrato Rora will slay everyone's hearts. Sorry to ramble. Also, her jp singing in new jp ver of batter up was epic af. 😅
Re: Stay I forget if asa wrote this rap or not. Chiquita was still learning Korean at this point, which I think is part of why she feels off a bit here. It's also a bit more of an emotionally complex song, which is Rorami's bag 100pct (Chiquita is a lot better at this now than at the beginning).

I legitimately don't know what all the people "defending" YG are on about... he gave them this song as a challenge to see how they'd interpret it, including the rap part (written for them in this case). So you're just.. correct. And without knowing the assignment, figured out they did it well.

But it’s just stupid to have them do blackpink covers when they can do better with other songs. Like we don’t want to compare them with blackpink but it feels like that’s what they want. I think the rap is good on its own but for being in gone it doesn’t need to be there. Ruka can sing and so can asa so I don’t understand why they had to make them do raps in songs that didn’t need it. For stay it makes to have a better rap part for asa rather than what Lisa and jennie did which was more chilled out singing and rapping vibes. Then for ruka it just felt like they had the worst option for a song for her to rap on. It makes no sense to rap on this song at all. It’s just not a rap song. And sure some of it may be also me loving this song so much as it is but I can’t help that Rosé is one of my 4 ults

Gone gave me sadness and warmth at the same time cause they shared their memories of love hurts with their best friends. Just what I can read from RuPhaJung eye contact. FYI Rita Rora Rami can play instruments like Rita & Rami >> Guitar / Rora >> Piano and some kinda Korean instrument. I could die seeing them in unit song like Girl Band…🎉😅

No, I don't understand what you mean. YG himself picked Gone and specifically said he wanted to see how Ruka would incorporate a rap section into the song. Ruka raps in every song she performs in. That's why you need to watch the entire episode of the show, not just a excerpt to know what's actually going on.

Blackpink's songs, including each member's solos, are YG's trademark, and producers can arrange them the way they want, and they were also covers for auditions.
