A little bit of everything. Things I like. Things I'm doing. Total randomness.
I'm a gamer, musician, husband, and father. I've played trombone since 1983, and now my son is in his 4th year playing trombone. I also play the trumpet and soprano trombone (slide trumpet). I started last year to chronicle as many performances as possible that my son and the band (Bessemer City HS Yellowjackets) played. This year I have tried to get as many performances (of all bands present) as my SD card would allow as I accompany the band to each competition.
I'm hoping to start to record gaming videos soon. Mostly MMORPG's.
Hi Nixsdaddy, based on the fact your marching band videos span from 2016 to 2019, and follow Bessmer City High School's comp schedule, I assume your child graduated from BCHS in 2020 (congrats!), and you no longer have a reason to keep attending competitions. Regardless, as a student at Cox Mill, I'd like to thank you on behalf of my band and other bands for recording and posting these videos! They allowed us to share our show with family and friends who could not come to see the show. Also, today was my last competition, and on the bus ride home, the seniors watched this video of our freshman show. Thank you for making all of that possible and sharing these shows with us. AJ
Hey AJ! You are correct that my son graduated in 2020. I really wish that I could continue going to competitions and helping out the band, but unfortunately, the new director believes that he can do everything on his own and has even told alumni (including the middle school director) he didn't need help. With that, the band went from 40 students last year to 14 this year. I'm sad, but it is what it is. Thank you for your kind words and I am so glad that what I had done made some sort of a difference. The last competition is always a sad day, but no matter what you end up doing in the future, never forget everything that got you to that point. My congratulations to you and your fellow seniors. May music forever be a part of your life and soul.
@@nixsdaddy5059 Thank you so much! Sad to hear about the situation at BCHS, but it will all work out in the end. I hope you and your son are well and also continue to have music in your lives!
Every year marching band gets smaller and smaller but we still have that strong, full sound. I wonder who the drum major is now? I was apart of the Earth Wind and Fire competitions back in 2010. What a glorious time we had out there! Keep up the good work! Mr. dunlevy doesn’t mess around when it comes to picking out competition pieces! Kudos and keep up the good work! Great sound!! Powerful park and barks! Keep it up!!
Do you follow BCHS's main Facebook page? (Not the band page) Understandably, the school only posted on the 8th, but it was posted. I would agree that it could of been posted earlier though.
@@ajschlem The next week after Chase and NoGa, The schedule doesn't have anything listed other than it's a possible double header, but places not listed yet.
I remember being in that show, lots of fun during band camp and thanks to two hurricanes and our director being sick, this was our first show and was exhibition but at our next/last show we scored 2nd place overall and I enjoyed the band and everyone was great, people just don't realize how long it takes to put on a good show, we had somewhere between 50 and 65 sets to learn plus plenty of music
I have no clue. Normally at competitions, they have programs where it tells, everything about each band, including song selections or at least what the title of the program is. All we got at the front gate was a sheet of paper with the times that the bands played and nothing else. I hope someone from East Gaston replies here.
The tunes in our show are V- Beethoven Lady- Styx Kashmire- led Zeppelin Jupiter Sing- Pentatonix ( this one was not played in this competition but will be played by two weeks)
