I’m sorry that you sold your G wagon. You sold it from paranoia and if only you knew how easy the M157 is to work on. Every time I hear engine out I laugh out loud! Your cousin is really not that smart
@@djzaki remove front fenders so you make life easier on yourself as far as not having to lean over fenders, remove hood for clearance when using cherry picker. You don’t need to remove entire engine from the w463 chassis, you just need to raise the motor, and you can have it angled on the cherry picker. It’s tight but doable. Looks like you just need to reseal turbos which isn’t really a big deal, you can do them yourself without buying replacements. Your turbos didn’t look all that bad to be frank, I think you sold the car too soon. I’ve seen way worse
Really wanted a g63 but Porsche seems to be the only reliable turbo manufacturer. I went with a 2016 g550. Just wish the g55 was still available in facelift. I had an e55 and it was problem free all the way until I sold it at 188k miles
@@stlswagger what model year was the e55. Yeah to be honest I'm not sure I'll ever buy another Mercedes. The AMG gt looks so nice, but I'd rather get the uglier g80 m3 for the sake of a more reliable engine. Mercedes used to be top notch.
@@djzakialso link to the front splitter and rear diffuser? Sorry if I’m annoying I have a supercharged e92 m3, just ordered comp rims and I need tires. Plus I wanna make it look like yours. Super clean I love it👍
In reality I think it was. Those bi turbo g63 engines are tremendous maintenance hogs. I still have a booklet from Beverly Hill Mercedes of daily maintenance that went above and beyong
i convinced my father to buy a g wagon 2017 and now he has just bought one. The color is exactly the same as yours. The car is nice but the only thing i dont like is how the ride is a bit bumpy.
I call (crankshaft) sensor. The crank sensor can be bad, but not throw a code, but the (camshaft) sensor might throw a code for timing retarded because its not reading the values correctly from the crankshaft sensor. Hard starts, ruff idles on cold starts, misfires, shifts weird all because the crankshaft sensor isn't reading properly.
so this is gonna sound dumb but I scanned mine at orielys and it threw those retarded code but says the main issue is the mas airflow system when we’ve replaced that already so should I replace the crankshaft sensor and see if it works if not check my vanos ignition coils spark plugs?
@@xeno_frames Are you using the oem continental maf sensor, or some unbranded maf sensor? If you've replaced the maf sensor with oem continental, and that didn't resolve the issue, then go to the checklist. Vanos solenoids, eccentric shaft motor, eccentric shaft sensor, crankshaft senor, camshaft sensors, coils, spark plugs. Examine for oil leaks around the valve cover that could be causing vacuum leak.
The more I learn about the ridiculous maintenance on European luxury cars, the more and desirable they become. I look at people who drive them and recognize everyone is spending thousands of dollars on maintenance for depreciation. My sister gave me a nice BMW, which ended up being an endless money pit. Primary car is the Porsche Cayman, which has been decent. I’m thinking about getting the last year of the Lincoln town car has reliable, transportation or cough up the money for a Toyota. I think my days of owning European cars have come to an end.
I still have an older bmw that hasn't given me any issues, but I keep it as a weekend car / collectible. But I think I will always use a Lexus or Toyota as a daily driver from now on
Used to daily drive a 2012 E92 335i, on an RnineT Pure for my daily now. Kinda want to get into another E92, so I was thinking M3, good decision is 2024?
Did all this happen in two years? Were you not able to see any of this coming? I always question people who are shocked and annoyed that Mercedes are expensive to repair 😂
Well I could see it coming but what I didn't was rust, and both turbo chargers leaking. Both of those turbos needed a full engine out service to replace them. All the other things I am fairly used to, but those major things made me question Mercedes most rough and tough vehicle
Mercedes cost more than BMW for a reason. BMW is still the more fun car to drive, but Mercedes will always top every car when it comes to interior quality and features.
After owning both a g63 g wagon and my m3s the bmw was not only more reliable but interior was better as well. I like to compare model to model though. I like the s class more than the 7 series. But I prefer and m3 to an e63 amg. But I'll have to agree in that Mercedes is more luxurious as of lately compared to bmw. Bmw tech though seems to be on a different level than all manufacturers. But at the end of the day it's all tastes and preferences. The reason they're doing well is because of people like us noticing the things they do well. I
My car was running perfectly fine stop go in the grocery store come back out now it feels like it's running on half the cylinders what the heck's going on???
I have a 325 Bmw and make the same iddle, I swap exhaust vanos by intake vanos and the same issue, obviously i cleaned both vanos, now Im gonna try cleaning the Cam sensor, but i dont have any clue about What else can be
I found that it works for around a year until it comes back slowly. There's an underlying issue that's causing the shaking; the dampener only dampens it until that too becomes worn again. I ended up selling my g before I could really dive into the issue. I've spoken to a few shops that actually change out the steering rack to solve the issue.
Need help!! When i start my car in the morning it trying to die not working properly but when it warms up it work perfectly it only happens in cold start anyone knows what the problem is ???
Just sent my boss' 201616 G63 to MB for service A (2 prepaid service package) for C$2700, front brake pads + rotors C$2500, winter tires C$2900, installation & alignment C$ unknown, rear sensors & wiring $2400 + installation $750. Interior & exterior detailing for C$600, paint correction & ceramic coating $1500. And the list goes on.
@@djzaki As for myself, I'm hunting for something older, like early 2000s G500 for its less complexity in electronics. G wagon won't be my daily, and I don't wanna break my bank like my boss does, so an older simpler G serves its purpose.
Hey I have a bmw 328i x drive i had bought it’s making a almost diesel like dirt bike noise when I start it rpm’s are shaking 1-3 back and fourth I bought it like this when I checked the oil someone had put transmission fluid in the engine so I changed that out put the proper fluid in and put a new oil filter on I checked the spark plugs and there extremely dirty when I start it up it dies right away after I’m done revving the car I just don’t no where to start I was told it might be a solenoid or fuel pump and the car shakes to any idea?
@@djzaki it has 16 codes I have to check out still haven’t went through all them because it was telling me 7 or 8 at first but it popped up with 16 when I was having my step dad look at it and he had to take off that day but ll get into it but the 7 codes where all miss fires 1-6 ll have to make a video on how it’s running see if the community could help me out
@@djzaki also I think it might be the bank solenoids because the transmission fluid is thick it had to have clogged them all 4 and the massflow air sensor for the rough idle but like you said I have to check all the codes first ll get up tomorrow and have a update!
Honestly if you want to save gas turn on the trip info each time you drive to get a feel for what your driving style eats up the mpg. But if you want to save gas you shouldn't have bought this car.
First of all the problem is the previous owner was a women 😆 second vehicles like this you buy new. And if your gona keep it longer than its warranty buy the extended warranty. Ill never buy a used car.
You buy a brand new German car you lose half the value driving it off the lot. Me and my cousin did most of the work on our own saving thousands of dollars. But I agree. First red flag should've been woman driven
