This works beautifully! I just got a 1 ft section of 1/2” irrigation hose left over from my sprinkler system and it worked perfectly!! It took two tries and you have to blow w good pressure, but it is working perfectly now

Hello and Thank You! Yes this works. Excellent plan. The dry water line was primed using this approach and I have coffee again. Quite the time and money saved. I'll pass $20 coffee money to a local charity on your behalf. I used a larger syringe to increase the pressure of water into the supply line and a right sized faucet washer to provide a best seal between the machine and the syringe.

Thank you for this video, it worked perfectly even with a thick straw!

Thankyou for the recommendation. I used a piece of copper pipe I had lying around and used hot water and air compressor. After a few tries, water started flowing again.

I can confirm that this worked! I actually used a big reusable straw- the water leaked out the side but I managed to blow in it real quick and the thing came back to life! Thank you, sir!

Genius. Worked like a charm with some 1/2 inch vinyl tubing.

This worked great! I didn’t have tubing so thought I’d just give it a go without and it work! I put a few drops of water into the inlet and started brewing and once I heard the pump kick in, I blew as hard as I could. I did this a few times and all of a sudden I saw coffee come out. Thanks!

EXCELLENT TIP! This is by far the simplest and least intrusive solution. Especially on a brand new coffee maker. We bought a Nespresso Vertuo, 54 oz. (De'Longhi) from Amazon. Wouldn't pump water. I did a return and bought a replacement, same unit, and received the replacement 48 hours later.. The replacement unit did the SAME THING! Would not pump water. After reviewing all the solutions online, I tried this one first. SCORE!! FYI - The guy who originally posted this fix did not specify what size tubing he used. For the newest model Vertuo, 5/8" OD tubing matches the water inlet best. It make take you a few tries, but it works! For me, I had to fill the tube with water 3 times and blow with all my might each time before the unit started working correctly. And it was BRAND NEW!! Kudo's to Mr. Trifunov! Thank you for the Tip!!!

Ok update. The issue came back after a few days. We tried the same fix but it didn’t work. We called the Nespresso Support number and they are VERY. Helpful and my favorite price (free 😂). They had me fill the reservoir with hot water and then lift up the carriage where the spout is. Next they told me to stick a toothpick up the spout. I did and it barely went in. They said push harder as it should go up almost the length of the toothpick. I did that and a BUNCH of clogged coffee grounds cam out. They then had me run a cleaning by pressing the coffee button 3 times quickly. The water flowed thru fine after that. Thank you for posting this fix, and to others who continue to have this issue try what I posted as well!

I just used the toothpick technique on our Nespresso Breville having this same issue. Worked like a charm! There was a bunch of grounds clogging the spout. Thanks!!

Thank you. This worked for me, we didn’t have time to go to hardware store so we used hand pump hose and sealed it around the intake. Started the machine and blew real hard. As we ran it 3-4 times. It didn’t seem like there was a change but after that we filled up the reservoir with water and pressed the button. It worked normally. Back in business!

This may be a silly question, but I’m trying this with the water tank pulled out and a straw and then pouring water in the straw and blowing while pressing the button to pump it through. Is that right? How much water should come out to know if it’s working? I’ve tried this a few times and see some drops of water, so I put the water tank back in, but still just drops come out; not a steady stream of water 😢

Hmm, not sure. If the pump actually fills back up with water I expect you will notice a change in how it sounds, and water would flow as a working Nespresso would. FWIW sounds like you are doing the same thing I did. Also FWIW I only ever did this once so am not a veteran Nespresso fixer. It seems this works for some people and maybe not for others. But I think you will know if it starts working right. Good luck.

THANK YOU Gerald. Had not used my Vertuo for many months and tried unsuccessfully for hours to get flow. Tried your procedure and it worked immediately. Even more surprising is that I had the right size PVC tube. Thaks again.😀

After trying every trick youtube has to offer....with none of them working I went back to using my old espresso machine that's worked fine for 10 years. The Nespresso has too many moving parts. Keep it simple stupid as the saying goes.

Thank you so much for this video! :) One of my friends gave me their Virtuo (she got a new one) and when I brought it home it wasn't working. LOL We figured it must have been because they hadn't used it in a while so I searched for ways to get it going and this worked for me.

Interesting... I wonder if the seal on the water container is going funky. Prior to the failure to pump the water... Yesterday there was a puddle of water coming from the base of the water reservoir. I wiped it up and removed/reseated the reservoir. Today the water pump was straining and barely had output and was in a powered off state. I jostled the lever up and down to trick it into thinking I put a new pod in (didn't) ran again. It pumped but very strained. Repeated that process 2 or 3 times and water came out finally but kinda like it's got a prostrate issue. 😂 Gonna try your fix today and run some descaler thru even tho we are not due for one.

this is a great video...however, when I checked the Nespresso site, it said to try the process several times due to air in the line...it took 5 times, but then the water came through...so...before dismantling, try up to 7-8 times to pump the air through before you go to the trouble of this process.....but thank you for sharing!!

It didn't work for me. Found the perfect fitting tube where there was a perfect seal (dollar tree plastic handle of a butterfly net). I blew and even sucked and thought if I just keo at it, eventually it wuld work. I read the reviews to see if I was alone in this not working. Clearly it worked for most people. Then I found dhellraisa comment aboutr sticking a toothpick in the water hole. The one on the outside did nothing but turn the machine upside down and flip open where the pods sit.....you can see a little slented shaped hole. Toothpick there and instantly it loosened the coffee stuck there and began free flowing!
