I'm really struck by not just how much thought and but also how much consideration you put into routesetting. This was a really wholesome and enjoyable video to watch.
I just discovered your channel and love your videos!! I've just gotten into routesetting (and am also a short blonde girl!) so this is seriously so cool to watch. Just wanted to say that you're a new inspiration for me and I would love to see more <3
I really love watching your episodes! I find it very relaxing and interesting to watch. Also love your character in the videos and the friendliness. I am really looking forward to seeing your next episode :) Keep it up! I like your style and i am sure other do as well!
Hi Brittany, Cool to watch! Thx! How high is the wall in meters? Do you set 1 route/day in this terrain? How many/day in other terrain? What is the usual day rate for a setter in the U.S.? Thx in advance for your answers! All the best, Ollie
I really enjoy these kinds of videos. Keep up! It would be interesting to compare the various styles/mindsets of each routesetter in your gym. e.g. how they approach the task? Do they privilege strange moves or a predictable flows? I always found in my gym to love each route of some setters, while generally struggling with routes of others
I love this idea! This was my first time filming other setters and not just myself- so I’ll definitely take advantage of it next time and ask more questions :)
Awesome video! Curious when you set with holds that need bolts, are you putting those in first and then switching out the bit to place screws after or on the way down, or something completely different? Thanks!
Super cool video! I just arrived at this new gym. I’ve been climbing for a little over a year. I can climb around V4 leaning into V5. They said they need a new temp routsetter, I don’t know if I’m up for the task. I would love to do it and it’s a fairly small local gym. Any advice?
Awesome video! I've watched all your uploads over the last month or so, really cool to see your process and breakdown of route setting. Feeling stoked off of what you share, for me to keep training and be at a level to do volume like that or get started in route setting!
As a casual / volunteer setter your videos are super helpful. Great to get the intention and how the climbs change after forerunning. Thanks for taking the time to film it
Really great work describing your intentions and experiences. Also, it's neat watching you improve as a creator. It takes a lot of extra effort to think about filming while you're setting for a comp. Nice work! Lastly, it was great that you were able to show the collaborative, team aspect of the setting process. Really good video 👏
I really appreciate this! Filming everything felt pretty choatic, basically any second i had to breath i had to be thinking about my next shot 🤣. Man would it be nice to have someone behind the camera!
@Goldie Blocs I like making behind the scenes setting videos, but I haven't been able to make them recently because it just takes up too much spare mental energy. I also hope for a dedicated camera person one day. Good luck! - Dave
Really enjoying these behind the scenes looks at the route setting process! As a new climber its SO helpful to my time in the gym, thanks for taking the time!
This was a great video! I can see you put a lot of work into editing. I was really interested in the work that went into making boulders accessible to a wide variety of body types. I, personally, am a very large guy (6'9") and some of the boulder starts in my gym are just impossible for me to get into the starting position and/or being very large makes otherwise tricky moves trivial. Of course, it's unreasonable to expect people to set with the very tall person in mind, but I do admit to being envious of the people who are able to do the boulders as the setters intended. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching, sorry about the Audio! I film and record everything with my iPhone as I have no proper filming equipment. I will at least pick up a mic very soon though!
I plan on making a video soon talking about this subject-- but to quickly answer your question, no. It can really depend on what your team is looking for though.
Very cool video, was really surprised to see that you have only 622 subscribers. Will be more than happy to come back in few months and see the growth of your channel :) Good luck!
Wow, from my modest experience route setting, I agree that 5 bolders is a lot. Very impressive skills and video quality, it's great to learn from. Have you ever considered setting for competitions?
