Thank you, Ken & Johanna. Great to see and hear Rick on your show. Keep it up. I remember you Mother very well Ken, Great history with you all. The Lord bless you both!
I never noticed before, discernment through practice (Hebrews 5:14) I noticed (ROMANS 12:2) that... by testing we can discern the acceptable and perfect will of God. Now, I think the testing must include knowledge obtained through "practice" of remembering things learned from various bible books. Seeing the word of God from all the angles He provides. I'm glad to see the Lord brought you past the blows of Berlín! Thank you for your faithfulness!
Romans was a great study. Thank you for studying and giving us your commentary. The Book of Romans is so rich. I appreciated your special guests also. I’m looking forward to looking into the subject of prayer together.
1. Civil government and rule is a blessing from God and not a necessary evil. 2 Samuel 23:3,4 2. God establishes a righteous throne with majesty. Proverbs 16: 12 3. The law of God is the soul of a good ruler. Exodus 18: 21 4. God requires true humility of his rulers. Deuteronomy 17: 20 5. Our basic demeanor towards civil rulers should be one of honour. 1 Peter 2: 17 6. Tyrants love moral corruption and hate virtuous men. Revelation 2: 14 7. Absolute perfection in our rulers is not the point. Psalm 51: 11 8. Tyranny is a judgement from God for the sins of the people. 1 Samuel 8: 11 9. Every type of civil government is under the authority of God. Romans 13: 4 10.Civil disobedience is required of Christians when matters of worship and the Gospel are concerned. Daniel 3: 18 11. Civil disobedience is lawful in other areas as well. 1 Samuel 24:5, 22 12. Civil government has a dual covenantal nature that involves God and people, and the king and the people. 2 Chronicles 23: 16 13. No human authority can be absolute. Daniel 4: 35 14. Not everything that is legal is lawful. Revelation 13: 17 15. Faithful believers will often be accused of lawlessness and treason. 1 Kings 18: 17 16. The Bible teaches the principle of the consent of the governed. 1 Kings 12: 1 17. The lot of the people and the character of their rulers are linked. Proverbs 29: 2 18. Resistance of tyranny is not the same thing as resistance of the established civil order. 2 Chronicles 23: 11 19. Lesser magistrates obeyed Jehoiada and they were right to do so. 2 Chronicles 23: 1,3 20. We must care what kind of company our rulers keep. Proverbs 25: 5 21. Christian history matters. Caesar’s job description belongs to God. If Caesar redefines his own job description he is disobeying Romans 13.
When my heart was in a million pieces, the verse “He restores my soul” was especially meaningful. Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals, is the One who restores our souls. Many people on my prayer list need emotional or mental or physical healing and God is the One who heals. Praise the Lord.
7:49 No, actually, Romans 9 is not “all about the unmistakable sovereignty of God.” It’s about Paul’s corrections of Jewish theological errors. He uses several OT texts that the Jews had perverted the meanings of, and he reversed them back on the Jews to show them how wrong they were. Sort of like what Jesus did when he corrected their misuse of “eye for an eye.” Paul was NOT saying that God loved Jacob but hated Esau, he was sarcastically making fun of how badly the Jews were misusing that quote. And Paul explicitly explains how he is doing this in Galatians 4.
I think alot of us nowadays tend to fall into creating our own idea of who God is or what he wants from us. I have to remind myself to pray and seek out understanding with his guidance. So great to see your faces dear friend! Keep up the good work.
You’re right! From the beginning the problem has always been to worship some other god of our own creating instead of the true God. In the garden, Satan tempts with saying, “Did God really say?” Satan always trying to twist God’s Word. Hiding His Word in our hearts, Trusting and obeying and trusting the Holy Spirit to help and guide us into all truth as we seek to follow and glorify Him. Thank you Jesus! Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world! I’m so glad you commented. Thank you for the encouragement! Love you!
Bud, Johanna, one thing I've learned from Dwight Edwards (by the way did you know he's the great, great, great, great grandson of Jonathan Edwards!) when becoming a Christian the person is no longer a "sinner". They have a new identity. People that walk around saying "Im a sinner saved by grace" NO! You can sin, but your identity has changed that is what Dwight teaches. I do believe that is correct. He said, "Christians are tarnished silver not costume jewelry."
Well how nice to hear from you Vickie. I have missed seeing you at the shop but I know you are serving our Lord wherever you are. God bless! Thanks for your response.
I love how Paul describes baptism and in essence is describing Christ’s death becoming our death and His resurrection becomes our resurrection to a new life in Christ! Without this death and resurrection experience we are never free indeed! Blessings!
