If you like classic cars, drag racing, burnouts, and "how to" restoration tips, than you've found your channel. "Busted Classic Garage" follows the restoration process of a 1971 Chevy C-10 truck and "The Endless List" of problems being fixed on a 1979 Camaro Z-28, or as I like to call her, the "Cursemaro Z-Twenty Break". We will also have footage of drag racing events, cruise nights and massive swap meets. Enjoy my misfortunes of the Cursemaro, crack open a adult beverage and stay tuned!
Yup MMF is no joke. I'm not 100% sure if this panel is galvanized, zinc coated or aluminized. Either way I made sure to grind down a good portion of the welding area. From what I heard they changed the coatng since then.
you’re welcome pleasure to see quality work because of you I am returning my TriPlus metal for my ‘67 C10 short bed I will be purchasing Key Parts driver side door and front fender I saw the quality stamping on the one part that included the relief for the rocker panel and the exact shape of the crescent moon bottom part of that panel
I don't think they sell a reproduction panel of that. I would say try salvaging the one that you have. That's what I did. In the worst case scenario, you're going to have to fabricate a new one.
Dude!!! Samesies, I'm about to put a 400 small block in my 1980 Camaro. But first I have a perfectly "not" running 305 to take out. Glad I watched this! Been watching for years! I'm also worried about hood clearance and what sort of exhaust headers I can use.
Man, I couldn't even tell you what headers I have on there. I think they're hedmen. They are a little tight, especially with the z-bar. You can always run a drop Base air cleaner to give you a little bit more room. I didn't have any clearance issues when I had the 400 in years ago and I was running an air gap intake which is pretty tall. Good luck on your swap and thanks for watching all of these years!
You can use either or but the gas is always going to give you a better weld with less splatter. I prefer .23 wire for sheet metal. Thanks for watching!
@dreamingcode so I skimmed through the vid yesterday and totally forgot about the channel being overtaken by Double R restoration.... hahahaha. Weird indeed. Lol! Well either way thanks for watching
Sweet. I'm probably going to build something similar but with 6mill because I accidentally bought the wrong type when I was insulating my house and have like 10x100ft extra. May try to make it more presentable though and have it actually fully roll up onto the PVC pipe then held up by hooks as I have a golf sim in my garage also.
Its pretty awesome that you're skilled at welding to repair metal in the truck. If I want to save some money I'm gonna have to learn to weld to replace rusted drain behind the kicker air vent. Great video, I needed this as it is very educational for me!
I was informed by a body shop, that the overhead plastic sheeting. Would attract paint and with any movement. The dried paint would break loose and fall on your parts or car.
Ihave a F 150 2008 and after looking at it, thefloor cross-members near the rocker pannels are roted and need to be replaced. Unfortunatly, i.don't know the parts number for these pieces.
@PatriceRobert20 I'm not sure if this is the piece but I would just do some searching on google. Also find a company that deals with later model ford trucks and see if they can lead you in the right direction. With the truck being fairly new, I would grab a electric cut off wheel and head over to the local junkyard and try to find a truck that has a decent floor and cut the piece that you need off a junkyard truck.
@BustedClassicGarage Thank you very much. I myself am in the process of setting up my garage at our new home for autobody purposes. Surprisingly enough, identical to how you did. Is there any possibility we could video call? I have many questions/concerns as the local help I've hired so far have been "half ass'd" to put lightly. Not to mention my first project is a 1977 k10 stepside :)
@knightbro2003 hit me up on Instagram. I'll try to answer any questions you got. I got a crazy time sensative project I'm working on right now so I don't have much time but I'll try to answer your questions as they come in.
Good video! We don't get to see comparisons very often, I will show this to our Quality Control team and see what we need to address. Looking forward to the install. Thanks man!!
Brilliant. I also did a video of a booth I designed. Your approach is very clever - particularly if you plan to reuse it a lot. I imagine the walls suck in a ton when you are running the fans that's what mine do and can be annoying. I couldn't tell if yours is air tight though.
Thanks John! It's not completely airtight but pretty close. The walls also suck in which made it pretty hard to paint the side of my 71 Cab without getting runs in the paint.
I’m curious about key parts inside door bottom. Wondering if they have the same contours as the original. Anything I’ve tried so far has fit like garbage, takes a lot of work to make them fit and you can tell they aren’t original. I’ve done 2 cabs and used that B pillar. They fit great! Looking forward to trying the A pillar and cab corners on my next cab. I used a shrinker on my last cab corner to make it fit the B pillar and door. Really enjoy your videos!
Thanks Mark! Funny you ask about the door bottom. I have a drivers to fit in my 69. It's day and night compared to the common panel. I started fitting the old one on my 71 years ago. What a terrible fit. Hit me up on Instagram or Facebook. I can send you pics of the high quality inner door patch.
Love it!! What cam went flat and what did you replace it with?! Trick in Ca was to put a 400 in with all the smog stuff, head work and a 112lsa low overlap cam to get them past smog. Want one of these before I die!! Had a 70 Z restored top to bottom late 80s I dailied for many yrs. 3200 on the fwy for hours on end was the best soundtrack it never got old. Had to put in a real M22 just for the whine. Had ported heads, Crane solid cam smog pump manifolds stock muffler. Still ran easy 13s and drove like a pyussycat With all new bushings to this day was the best driving musclecar Ive ever owned hard to explain. Outran my share of IROC and 5.0 CHP cars back then. Agua Dulce to my apt in Van Nuys 12.5 min flat.
Well that's a funny story in itself. I took the 400 into the machine shop and started buying a bunch of speed parts and then my buddy offered me a 305 which I refuse to take off his garage floor. Lol but a sbc is a sbc so I threw it in for the meantime. I've ran that car with that 305 everywhere in the last half decade. I just pulled the 305 out in hopes of getting the 400 rebuilt for drag week last year. Didn't make it in time so it's still in pieces but I have another 400 I'm building. Bottom end is scat, lunati and KB. I have a Comp hydraulic roller, howards lifters, same top end besides a manual sec 750 DP and I'm getting a set of 210cc AFR race heads for it. Should be in the mid 11's this year at HRDW. You should check out the playlist. There is alot more to the story on that car. ru-vid.com/group/PLme0eaI9YiefhO7z3b0y2LaakJga4j3uJ&si=Iaca-6BQo6dYGM4o
Nice work, however it doesn't matter if you use all steel , go to any shop, factory, or school thier air lines are steel and many times 50 years old, rust nodules inside the lines won't hurt unless they break loose, and clog your tools
@@BustedClassicGarage What gearing are you going to use? I am looking to make my C10 more of a highway cruiser, so I am looking at possibly 3.42 or 3.23 gearing for it
I buy sheet metal from the metal supplier. They have fall off pieces they sell by weight. I rarely need a full sheet so random sheet sizes are worth the savings.
For sure, great deals! I found a place called Metal Supermarkets a couple of months ago that sells their scraps. I walked away with $400 worth of square tubing for $160. Just need to find the time to make some stands for some of my Eastwood metal fab tools. Thanks for watching!
@BustedClassicGarage they have a location in my area. They're the most expensive supplier we have in the area though. I only use them for odd sizes I can't find.
