Not many reviews or vids on these SC60 (1ST Gen) CB1000R motorcycles. I would be interested to know how you got on with it longer term. I agree that on road rideability is important....in terms of accessible power and torque plus also flickability agility in corners and ease when riding at slower speeds ....thanks Mindful this is an old video btw
Massively underrated bike that’s probably only really coming into its own now, all these years later. Bought mine new in 2013, full Ohlins front and rear, PCV remap and a full titanium system with decat. It’s a potent but highly useable machine for everything. Never selling it.
Hi there, I'm from Taupo, I'm considering buying one of these, nearly bought one some years ago. Do you still have your one and if so how do you still love it? My only sticky point is that maybe the pegs might be a bit high making legs cramped? Cheers, Steve.
Hearing the sound of an engine running hard makes me restless and wanting to go for a ride. This road looks very good, with all those bends and elevation change. Must be very fun to ride.
Sold my restored mint Hawk for a 2002 919last summer. I've had super bikes to little v twins and this is by far my favorite bike that I've owned/ridden. You can do anything on it but this next coming season I'm gonna upgrade the seat, after a couple hours my tail bone hurts.
I've had a 2005 model for 7 years and 110,000 kms. Touring, commuting, shopping and blasting the twisties. Very very reliable and low maintenance. I installed the windscreen a few years ago, which looks a bit less cool but makes a massive difference esp on long trips. It's a good bike for its time but a bit old fashioned now. Bikes have come a long way the last 10 yrs. The hornet has no fuel gauge, gear indicator, traction control or abs and the suspension is all manually adjusted. That said it's fun to ride and as fast as pretty much any car and most bikes. I will probably keep it forever or until I win lotto.
I have one in the same colour scheme and it's a great bike. I have some carbon bits on to make it more personal. Also a Yoshimura exhaust. Good luck with the bike.
Hi, if you buy the one made for the Ninja 250R then it just slips on without any modification. I added some aluminium tape around where the slip on meets the header pipe because I felt a slight air leak, but this was very minor.
WEll in most Areas those Naked bikes really Trouble Racebikes and pull away from them... They dont Need as much RPM as the Racebikes and they are much more compfortable. I guess twisty roads are more fun using naked bikes than with any other bike...Well maybe a shopper for some People. I still prefeer racebikes from the optical side but i do reallize it when i use mine and my friend is on his hornet. I could hate my bike after about 200 miles and he is still fresh allover. The only Thing he dislikes is straight accelerations at the Autobahn. But there are lots of situations when there is almost no difference even to the Racebike. And i doubt this is a big difference using 919 or 1000ccm ^^ Overall the Price power combination is awsome on this.
Congratulations. I just made the change myself. However I learned and have been riding Harleys and metric cruisers. So im at a disadvantage when it comes to the cornering. The powerband of the sv1k is just amazing. Its right there, right now! But at the same time not too overwhelming and the front end stays down unless you consciously choose otherwise. I have rode a few faster bikes (cbr1k) but the overall fun factor is off the charts. I feel confident whacking the throttle as opposed to walking that fine line at 7k rpm between using the passing lane with authority and looping it. As for getting into that power.....give it another week. You will have a hard time holding back
What troubled you about the supersports riding position the most: wrists, back or knees? I've only ever sat on one sports bike an Aprilia RS250, which i'm told is a poor yardstick to judge other sports bikes by - so I'll defo still try a few at some point. But i'm not too flexible and 6'1 with long lower legs, so I'm guessing different bikes will suit me better. I love the CB1000R. This would suit me perfectly I think (I hope)
I think for me it was a combination of a few things which in the end affected my riding and confidence. I highly recommend that you try a naked bike out and see whether it's for you as different people tend to like different riding positions, but for me the difference is night and day and I find the upright position much more natural for me and the good thing about the CB1000R is that it still has a sporty stance in that the bars are still a little forward and the footsteps are high up.
Yeah I hear you, there. It's a pain in the ass you have to squat like a jockey on a lot of these machines. But it is for a reason I guess. Still annoying. Like you said, when the time comes I'll just try a whole bunch out n see what works best. It's comforting that there are bikes like the CB1000R out there tho, which probably give you the best of both worlds.
I've got a liquid image ego camera, it's that small (about the size of an egg) it fits inside your helmet, it cuts down on wind noise and you get a birds eye view, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kmoABYsikjg.html
My first bike was a 2007 Honda 919. I traded it for my current 2009 Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja. The sport bike without a doubt has better performance when it comes to acceleration, top end power, top speed and handling, but I missed my 919 doing longer rides, so I found a used 2006 Honda 919 that only had 1,496 miles on it and bought it in 2012. The Honda 919 is a great all around bike that can preform, handle and better to ride long distance, plus I get about 48-49 miles highway also. You can get 200 miles on one tank without worry about running out of gas if you're doing highway miles. You can also look into the newer version CB1000R as well. You won't go wrong with either bike unless you plan on going faster than 155mph. Get a windshield ASAP because after you get above 130mph, it's hard to maintain with all of that wind beating you up.
