I just finished watching it and hearing it. The video is pretty cool but I noticed that the devil had nicer-looking teeth than Bruce which but Bruce does look a lot younger. The song, I like the chorus. I like the lead. I like the ending which would probably sound awesome live but I don't really care for his storytelling maybe just once at the beginning and sing differently the rest of the way. 1 out of 10, I give the song an 8. The video I'd give it a 7.
Thanks!!! We take the 7! 4 people in the audience sent the video to us and we edited the 4 into one. Not a professional video, and that was 2012, way before the high res videos in the cameras!
That was fun. Hmm . . . I wonder if Mr. Daniels went for "I told you once you son of gun" rather than "you S.O.B." because there was a lady on stage with him?
You beautiful musicians, thank you Maggie and Mr. Daniels, thank you band. Your song was prophetic in the deepest sense. The devil did come down to Georgia looking to steal. He was in a bind, he was way behind, but we have music, and we have recounts. And recount we did. And again. And one more time. And you're gonna regret. And Fani said, let me show you how it's done.
In most performances of this song, the listener is left kinda feeling like the Devil's performance beats the pants off of Johnny's. I've always been a bit surprised that Charlie Daniels settled for that. Here Maggie and Mr. Daniels show us what and how Johnny **really** played!
I’ve probably said this earlier on this thread, but she has done what so few get to do at such a young age: play with (I’ll assume) her idol. Only one other (that I know of) has done this…that was Ricky Skaggs. At the age of 5, he got to play with his idol (and later) mentor, Mr Bill Monroe. God bless you Maggie!
You can see in this video that Maggie was already a great entertainer. That must have been so special for her to play with the late great Charlie Daniels. Fast forward to now and she is a beautiful, talented singer and songwriter in her own right. She has turned into an incredible talent. Thank goodness I saw her in a Home Free video otherwise I might not have found her. She is one of my new favorites. She doesn't seem to be able to do a bad song so far. I am a big fan!
