Bass Edge’s, THE EDGE, is a bass fishing podcast that focuses on techniques, tips, and inside product knowledge that will help improve your fishing success. We interview a different top pro angler and focus on a bait or technique in which they specialize. We also interview a product expert who provides in depth information on a particular product or service that may effect your success on the water. This audio program started as a compliment to the Bass Edge television show which aired weekly on the Outdoor Channel. Please check out Season 1, 2, and 3 DVD’s in our online store at bassedge.com
This kid is on another level! He is a 100% correct,as a older fisherman (62) I’ve done what he said about using what I know but being more efficient by casting to targets rather than casting blindly.
My best 5 went 41 lbs. All spots. Bullards Bar Reservoir. No FFS. I turned my electronics off, the pings shut them down up there. I remember Justin fishing with his grandpa in the Future Pro Tour back in '02 in Northern California. My partner and I knew he was going places. He was just a kid. Always pulling for Justin.
"Bass will always show your bait attention" - Great quote for me! I've reaallly struggled not wasting time throwing at carp, catfish, crappie or hybirds. I'm getting better, but some of those giant carp still get my attention.
If you listen to Scott Martin talk about his victory on various podcasts, you will realize that FFS had little to do with his success. Sure, he was using it, but so were others. He said the keys for him were finding the clean spots around the clumps which he did by feeling the bottom with his bait and avoiding catching the males and thereby driving off the spawning females which he did through his bait selection.
Agreed, and the point was FFS was a portion of locating and catching the spawning fish... it's wild how it's creeping into every behavioral phase and seasonal pattern of bassin. Appreciate your comment and listening in to Bass Edge!
Welcome to the BassCat family Kurt. I have one of the first production 2024 Puma STS boats. Loving it!!! I smile every time I see it and fish in it. It's been a minute. We need to go fishing again soon!
Great show except he announced Jan. 13th he is leaving BPT and going to the Opens on Facebook. Curious when this show was recorded. Would think he had to have already entered the Opens before your show
How crazy fast things can change... we had a good interview with Dakota and he spoke his mind. He reached out 7 days after the interview 2 days after it was posted on RU-vid and let us know he had a choose a different direction. Anglers are dealing with unprecedented times and Dakota obviously was lead to a alternate path... just bringing you anglers thoughts and hopefully giving you their insights on catching more bass. Stay with us.... you'll enjoy the future episodes as well.
@@frenchy175777 He pumped it we didn't... obviously several days after the taping he decided to go a different direction. Happy for Dakota and always wishing him the best... we hope to have him on again when he Wins again!
Hey Kurt, great show and interview. The only thing I like to say is that you need a mic. You were the quietest person on your show. Otherwise, like I said, your interviews are great and questions relevant. Regards, Steven.
We certainly keep improving... actually have a Yeti boom mic just off the camera... but I think I need a mic stand for it and place it on the desk in front of me. Super appreciate your feedback and we will get better. Thanks!
What is unclear to me is whether the $150k winning prize for BPT is $50k added or just money shifted within same payout purse, if it's the latter, then I don't think it's a positive
If BASS/MLF don’t raise tournament winnings, and keep entry fees as low as possible….. it’s not feasible for most to continue…..like Keith said, they can make more $ RU-viding
"Slightly reduced field" 😂 we all know those anglers anglers left either because they didn't agree with cutting nearly half the field, OR they knew they'd be cut, and wanted to get a jump on the guys that would stay and then be cut.
FFS is the reason there are more competitors, also the reason "junk fishing" is becoming excepted as a legitimate technique. It used to be called trash fishing back when the concept was being first talked about, at least in my region thats what it was called in the late 90's to early 2000s. then it was considered an insult so people stopped talking about it. its very appropriate today of your really think about it. maybe thats why some of the older anglers don't look on FFS in tournaments favorably. it's got nothing to do with programming a VCR to record your favorite sitcom
Ott makes a lot of sense. Every fish counts with higher minimum weight. Live streaming with that format is the best, most exciting, tournament coverage available. Lot better than 1 or 2 hour highlight reels where it looks like everybody is catching them all day.
