It looks really nice. spared from rust ,i have a 280 GE automat converted to 290tdt manuel , found a rust free body in same color as yours which had been stored 15 years and it looks like this one you got there rustwise ..been running for 8 years now. never any problems or breakdowns.. only wheel bearings forward changed in 8 years. but rust starting to show now as they put salt on the roads here . i drive all year round tiers
did you use your original shims? i'm reading the manual in preparation to replace my wheel bearings and kingpin bearings. The process of measuring the preload on the kingpin bearings is confusing me. I am planning on using the original shims and kingpins. will i need to buy new shims and figure out the correct preload?
If is all original on your car you don’t have to Preload, only return the old shims on the same place and renew the bearing and gasket.. Preload is to center the bearing huis to the ball axel Good luck 😉
Thank you! I live in London and don't have a garage. My friend was moving his business to a new wareshoue. So while it was empty he let me move my truck there. I had a week to do it all myself because the mechanics here didn't want to touch it. I finsihed at 11pm the night before I had to get the truck out I replaced all bearings, seals, front wheel hubs, and new cv joints. It was probably the most intensive and difficult job I have done! I hope i did it right! i don't think i could have done it without your videos as a guide so thank you again.@@gclassdoctor

What is the grey material you layered on the shims? Also thank you so much for posting all these videos! I am about to embark on my own axle refurbish and this is very helpful.
