looking back, that's absolutely correct, because I didn't get what MATRYOSHKA was. I just looked it up and yep, nesting dolls ARE full of themselves! Love you for pointing that out.
I didn't catch the star comet nova thing either at first. Also, Carl Sagan thrown in there as well is 😙🤌 Amazing work by Kareem to find three phrases that start with astronomy related words and also fit a weekday grid. Two of which are a perfect 15 letters long! What a great find.
great point. I just realized how doubly this clue / answer fits! STAY IN LINE has double meanings here. I remember in 2016 Dem primary vote in Arizona, people waited in line 3-5 hours due to decreased polling locations, and folks telling people waiting in line "Hillary has defeated Bernie, y'all should just go home".
Thanks for the shout out! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it. Spencer says creativity is the most challenging part of constructing a puzzle. Also, this crossword is a pangram (it includes every letter of the alphabet.)
I’m afraid not. I was out of town on a spiritual retreat and solved it on my phone rather than on camera. If I’m being honest, that puzzle was difficult for me. I was sleep deprived and time limited, and I couldn’t solve it in time to keep my gold streak alive. 😔 I solved it the next night after catching up on sleep. I was hung up on JETE crossing with ETS. I had JETS and STS. Splits in midair ? Tricked me. I was thinking JETS, as in “I gotta jet “
@@steviesolves4304 OK, I was wondering. My son wrote that puzzle and we enjoy watching solver videos. He's got another one coming out in the LA Times on 6/30 if you want to change things up and deviate from NYT for a day.
@@bonnieleach3652 aw dang it, now I really wish I'd have waited and solved it in a video! Congrats to your son Spencer for getting published in the NYT and LAT! That's amazing. I haven't attempted to construct a puzzle yet, but the purpose of my videos, as I see it, is to enable people to admire the skill it takes to create a piece of art that a crossword puzzle is. I'll be out of town this weekend, so I may take a few days to get to that LA Times puzzle, but I'll do my best to find it. I hope I don't have to pay for it haha.
I think it would be incredibly enjoyable watching solver videos of people struggling through a puzzle that you created! Like seeing someone fall for a trap that you set, that you expected people would get tripped up. How gratifying!
@JohnHawksley87 I enjoyed your puzzle my friend! Congrats on your 4th NYT entry! I’ve never tried to construct a puzzle, but I greatly admire those who do. That’s the purpose of my channel, for folks to admire these artistic masterpieces even if they are t skilled enough to solve it themselves. I hope you enjoyed the video
In improv class this week we said our favorite board game and I went with Stratego. Heather seemed too have a visceral reaction so I guess she likes it too. They should know better than to give you a poker odds question!
Is there a link to the solstice festival you could add to the description? It's tough not being able to see the top left corner with your face there but not sure if there's an easy fix. Wait, when you scroll up like you do at 10:04 we can see that top corner. That position would be helpful when you're working there. Great video and I like the extra commentary on topics.
Bro I'm at 20:25 screaming push up bras! Monterey! Pounces, not bounces! I trust that you'll get there though. And antifa! But bounces makes more sense than pounces for springs imo.
