THANK YOU SO MUCH FAM for your help man , i’m really overwhelmed right now cuz i been learning a lot from your mixing skills and applied them in my mixes and they sound so much BETTER & CLEAN ! I spend some euros on Spectre , Pro MB and few Plugin alliance plugins but i’m happy with what i get from them 😅. Btw, if you get plugins licence you don’t use to hesitate to pass them on lol 😂. Or maybe do some giveaway etc … might also help the channel growth . Can’t wait for your next Live mixing session 🙏🏾
@@edstokesmusicSure man it definitely does ! Started watching your videos for the last 2 weeks and oh man i have really improved 🙏🏾,Thanks so much 😊 Btw, i tried to download the template on the 2 tracks beat mixing but it’s not available anymore 😢
@@1KriticalShoota I am so pleased to hear this! This is why I love making videos like this to help others!! Oh could you try again? I just checked my end if you put your email in on the freebies section it should then automatically download. Let me know if it still isn't working.
Thanks so much again fam for your videos ! I’m coming from Logic Pro and Studio one but after watching all your videos lately i think i will give protools a try 😅… You got any template to download ?
What plugin alternative could i use to replace the Spectre ? I got all the rest of the plugins except that and i can’t afford to spend that amount right now , will wait until its gone on sale sometime 😅
Fabfilter Saturn is an alternative if you have this? If not you could try the decapitator on a bus and eq the frequency you want to saturate and blend back in. Spectre is amazing! 100% recommend!
@@edstokesmusicYes i do have both Decapitator and Fabfilter saturn 😅.. Thanks so much 🙏🏾, Learned a lot from u in just a week ! I’m part of your notifications gang now and anxiously awaiting every mixing videos from you 🙏🏾
@@1KriticalShoota Awesome! Give them a go and let me know how you get on! I'm so pleased to hear this! Thank you for taking the time to watch the videos, means a lot! New video coming this Friday!
just crack it bro i havent spent a single penny on plugins in my entire life and i still got all the stuff i need. you can buy it later when u have the money so look at it as a free trial
Thanks for the video! How would you compress if the track was recorded badly(like the volume of the guitar is all over the place)? I record at my home and sometimes the guitar player just gets into it and strums really hard making the rest of the track sound really low in volume. How would you approach it?
Thanks for watching! This is where I would use clip gain to level out the guitar volume before I apply first compressor on. Or another method you could do is lets say the acoustic is louder in the choruses I would split the guitar up on separate tracks and apply compression on each track with different compressions settings for example back the input on the compressor off on the choruses. As long as I'm getting similar gain reduction dB then I'm all good! Hope this helps!
So I balance the mix then I apply my mix bus processing and I mix into it. I leave the limiter on and mix through it. My mix bus is part of the mix if I take it off or adjust at the end of the mix then this will collapse my mix/undo the processing I have already done on the individual tracks. My mix bus acts as like my master. I don’t master it after that. If the client wants a mastering engineer after I will keep the mix bus processing on and send one with and without limiter on. Usually I want to keep the limiter on as it’s part of the sound of the mix. Hope this helps :)
@@edstokesmusic this clears up alot in my head i just got the landr mastering and i wanted to experiment with mixing into it rather than slapping it on at the end. one more question if the client wants a mastering engineer afterwards what would they usually do that is more beneficial than what you already sent the client e.g. make it louder than your mix or just run it through some gear to give it a final polish ?
Yep! My preferred method is to mix into it. The limiters really affects the sound of the mix so that’s why it’s important to have it early on in the process. All depends. Some clients prefer to have a second set of ears and allow the mastering engineer to do their thing which can add a nice flavour to the mix. Usually my limited mix hits around -8 INTEGRATED LUFS. Some mastering engineers will make it louder others may turn it down. To be honest personally i want the mastering to come back very transparent ie sounding the same as my mix or 2 percent better. Mastering can give the client like quality control check before release.
Anytime! Thanks for watching the video!l and for the sub! Always happy to answer any questions and if there is any future content you would like to see let me know too!
