What's with all the comments about gloves. I've been a nurse for 30 years. We do not use gloves for everything. Non-clinical people often skeeve the human body but unless there's a risk of contact with blood, bodily fluids, waste or mucus membranes, gloves are not required.
I've had my neck stuck in a charlie horse many times basically is what I call it and it is very painful so imagine that for a newborn. Some kids don't have high pain tolerance
My cousin was born with a hole in her heart. She was born in the 60's and had surgery at 6 years old. The surgeon actually explained what he was going to do to her before he operated and asked her if she had any questions. Her only question was what color thread was he going to use.
One of my twin nieces had VSD in and was operated on at 2 years old. She was always tired and could not keep up with her fraternal twin. Her surgery has held at Roosevelt Hopital in NYC (facility is no longer in business). She has the same scar and is now 50 years old.
Thank you Dr Paul! My older brother had an huge VSD in 1951. I never met him. He died before I was born. I appreciate you covering this as much it can still be missed today. There was no surgery for my brother and he died just short of his 4th birthday. My grandma noticed he was breathing fast and sweaty at 2 weeks old. Thank the Lord that surgery is available and has been perfected over the years. I always wondered how my mother felt about surgery that came about in later years. My Mom said you could just hear his with your ear on his chest! None of my brother, sister nor I had any heart problems after. Good doctors like you Dr Paul are so important for baby's first checkups. I've seen many of your videos and you were very thorough in your checks! I'm so thankful this sweet baby is doing well now!❤️
I am 77 years old ñow, but I will never forget my daughter's constant screaming. Later in life, in her 20's, she was diagnosed with a Syrinx. I write this to u so that maybe u might watch for that. But beyond that, I wish I had had this knowledge. I was a Postpartum RN and we never learned these techniques. Of course, I graduated in 1969. That probably was not known then. Keep up the good work. And your baby is adorable. I am so pleased mom and dad has this help, Dr Paul.
