its more like a hot air intake.. the enginebay is really hot. i did mine where your battery is with aloy plates and insulation.. when totching the filter in that its like ambient temp. oh if you want some more sound remove the bov. ;-)
I used the Koyorad OEM replacement which fits perfectly with the OEM fan shroud. It looks good too as it's black plastic just like the original Calsonic rad which cost about $1600 Australian dollars here. Does the mishimofo fan have two speeds?
Beast of a machine and I think the F87 M2 Comp's design will in time be considered classic. I joined the same club back in July and bought one, also black. Was a 1 owner from new with 20k miles. Looks a similar spec to mine which also has the Harman Kardon sound system and speed limit indicator, but there are a few differences. My seats have the blue stitching and the original owner has silver powder coated the original wheels. I guess the powder coating won't be to everyone's tastes but I didn't mind either way. On the plus side the powder coating gives longer lasting protection from stone chips and it also gives it a bit of a throwback look. Original owner had also specced a rear diffuser. Not planning to track mine as I can squeeze enough fun out of the roads outside Glasgow late at night, or on longer road trips. But will enjoy following some of your track efforts.
Welcome to the family my M2 brother, throw that b in mdm and have some fun! Also, I bought one about 3 months ago, a 2020, 7k miles, clean, lbb, manual and I was loosing coolant in the auxiliary tank, check it and keep checking it every so often. If you don't see any leaks and notice your coolant disappearing it's the charge air cooler, do yourself a favor and buy an all aluminum one and you're set for the life of the car, it's very common.
Is it important to disconnect the battery? Need to do mines soon. What do you think of the hertz speakers or do you think can get better speakers as i have always used vibe in my cars.
@@desimedia8805 I would definitely advise disconnecting the battery. And yeah the Hertz speaker are really good, the sound quality is great you’ll be happy with them 👍🏼
@@luisruizz_ oh really, I no longer have my evo X but honestly from what I remember no, it had next to no play while in gear and a lot stiffer in neutral too. Did you also install the bushings? Or just the short shifter?
@@georgeridley9419 yes, I’ve installed the base bushings, cable bushings, and gate selector bushings.. it’s all from Torque Solutions but I can’t seem to figure out what could be causing so much play
Also, if its the original turbo actuator, bin it and buy a second hand oem evo 8 one (direct fit, revised shielded design). If you have an oem evo 5 one itll be rusted out inside due to its postioning to your bonnet vents and youre boost will be impacted even in stock form. Theyre all stuffed. Radiator out job for simplicity. Soak the lower turbo shields bolts, let it sit, get a little bbq hand held torch, heat each bolt 30 seconds, then carefully rock them left and right bit by bit as a part of unbolting them. You can leave the harder to get to side heatshield bolt on and just bend the shield over to do the actuator. Down the track, front pipe, catback, fuel pump, add a touch of boost and a tune and itll fly
Genuine maf gasket, part number MD151672 . Looks like someone probably had an aftermarket intake in the past and put it back to stock (based on airbox missing two bolts and elastic bands on the MAF). Buy a gasket, cheap and worth it. Keep up the evo 5 content love it
Yeah it runs fine. ill be honest i dont feel much of a differnce in power so i think ill get a tune in the future, just to make the most of the intake.👍
Awesome job, I just wanna know if there is any way to get it at perfect zero like the OEM cluster... I'm about to install the Spirit of Competition Cluster in my evo 9.. Also any extra tips??
Yes, after a few attempts I figured this out. 1- take the plastic stop out that the needle rests on at 0mph 2- reset the needle, counter clockwise ( so you feel resistance) but go past 0 a few extra inches. 3- then lift the needle clockwise anywhere above 40mph so you can re insert the black plastic piece. 4- then set your needle, counter clockwise back down onto the plastic stop. This will make your reading almost perfect, you can test with the WAZE app. *Repeat step 2 but go further past 0 if you don’t get it right first time, eventually you’ll get it spot on.
When you had to rewire the horn connector was it literally just taking it out of the connector and moving it to the third from bottom? Or was there something else you had to do? I'm also not good with electrical stuff 😅
yeahh literally just change that one connector to third from the bottom and you will be all set. dont sweat it, wiring can be a pain but hopefully this helps! 👍
Men, the headlights its good idea, but, in my opinion, you have to pay attention at rust on the body. And of course your intercooler is so bad. Cooling system in this car more matter then headlights.
hmm, is your car a evo model? and there are different colour bulbs for certain parts of the cluster so make sure your blue bulb is going where a blue bulb is supposed to go!
