See if you accidentally turned on the touchscreen or touchpad option in mc settings. I had it on for like 6 months back in 2018 and couldn’t shift click items until I turned it off

if ur putting items in ur chest just hold shift in ur keyboard and left click on the item that u want to store, it automatically stores in the chest. U dont need to drag the items to chest
