There’s so many downsides for owning a home (Morgage maybe), tax, maintenance, utilities. If you rent it’s much simpler and allows you to have more capital for more investments.
The downside is you have been paying the mortgage for someone else who will eventually own the house, and a property with no mortgage that is generating rent income is a great asset to leave your children
If you dont over extend your budget and you are a reasonable person you will finish to pay the mortgage and you own your house. If your life goes completely crazy, you will be homeless either way.

This whole "renting good" mentality is strange. In some fringe situations it makes sense, like if you're moving for work frequently, if you have a family, and are settled, rent is a trap.
