I run a small electronics business specializing in the repair & servicing of UK (legal FM only) CB radio equipment, aimed at the trade. I also spent about 16 years in professional business 2-way radio. I have heard & read so much rubbish, myths & legends about various CB radio makes & models that I decided to launch this channel. Each model I choose will have a videos made about it. Firstly, servicing the the radio, using where possible manufacturers service manual. The second video is an air-test standardised demonstration, where our test vehicle drives just over six miles away in the "wrong" direction. We have three service benches here all with very different test equipment. Every CB radio that leaves here is spot on with reference to the manufacturers service data. I hope you will enjoy, find fascinating & informative the usually 'trade only' videos that are building up as different sets come in for repair & alignment
In this radio, the noise suppressor calibrations are lost in the processor and from the meter. They are not in the engineering menu as in a simple barry. How to calibrate the noise suppressors in this radio station, who can tell me how to do this? Is there a second engineering menu?
Great little sets - great audio and signal both ways and a simple design with everything you need and nothing else (although I suspect you'd argue about the necessity of the meter Richard but it's nicely integrated still..! 😄) Thanks for the video - another excellent example. 👍
Hi Richard, great informative service video and love seeing the sets tested after with Mr.Chippie. Keep up the great work keeping these oil sets alive. Paul (St.Helens)
Excellent scratchy corner test and worked well at five mile point, also on the mic test could tell the difference in quality but both were nicely audible, I had the same factory original mic on the 4E I used to have.
It's always been the same. A Red Thunder, which is a cheap copy of a Les Wallen Thunderpole. Mounted in the centre of the roof using a drilled-in mount on the Nissan Leaf. Richard, G0OJF, UK
Well you could certainly tell the difference between the microphones at the end I wonder if you was to have done the 5 mile point with the factory original you would have broke the squelch on low power ?
@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 to richard you are most welcome please 🙏 can you tell me when is the next video on radios please 🙏 from paul chapman at east sheen 73's
The Maxcom Apollo a set I had totally forgotten about but once I saw the front I recognised it from ads in the old CB magazines in the 80s as I only ever had the 4E in the Maxcom range, but nice that its working again and I'm looking forward to the Scratchy corner test.

Hi Richard changing subject I visited the workhouse in southwell see a organ that had been fully refurbished and wondered if that was one of yours. Nick
I did a bit of looking at the Workhouse website & can only see mention of a Harmonium (American reed organ). Looking at the Nationae Pipe Organ Register with a general search of 'workhouse' did show three pipe organs were at one time installed in workhouse chapels, but Southwell was not listed as one of them. Looking at a photo of the Southwell Workshouse Harmonium, it does have a fancy top bit above the actual instrument with fake wooden guilded organ pipes. Perhaps that's the confusing bit! Richard
Was it Amstrad that did the CB with all the controls on the Mic, it was basically just a small black box with an over-sized hand-held mic that had all the controls and channel LED on it. might've been a Midland? Long time ago!
Sounds like the Audioline 342. I've done or three on this channel in the back catalogue. Realistic did the TRC2003, but that ewas a grey box. Binatone did th Breakerphone, which was a silver box & all the controls in a telephone type handset. Richard, G0OJF, UK
I think Amstrad's choice to have Cybernet make their sets was excellent. I remember the first Amstrad VHS video recorder was superb & sourced from Orion in Japan....some models were crap...some excellent. depending who made them. Richard

Excellent Scratchy corner test at all the key points, and at the end I thought it was a sparrow and a mouse on the table today but someone Identified the bird as a chaffinch in the comments.
Hi Richard, if you use CB slang on the amateur bands. You will soon get a telling off. Even if you say you have come from a CB background it's fround upon. All the best to you and Mr chippie.
Yes, but I haven't come from a CB background. I've come from a commercial background & am the sole owner & bill payer of the GB3GR 70cms amateur radio repeater. It's on there I may drop in fun phrases like 'I'm square wheeled'. Richard, G0OJF, UK
