I still remember the anticipation of waiting for Ultraviolence’s release. The excitement when she released Tropico on RU-vid…her first Rolling Stone cover. I pre ordered the UV box set and still remember the day I first listened to West coast after listening to Born To Die for so long. Following her career has been such a huge part of my high school years and growing into adulthood, each of her albums has a special memory because I was at a different time in my life for each new release. Seeing her for the first time on the LA To The Moon tour was such a surreal experience, she was glowing on that stage. Yes I do believe Lana is at an all time high but she still is the same Lana I’ve come to know through the years and I’m happy her music is reaching more people because she deserves all the success in the world. If you get Lana, you get Lana. She’s truly a gem in our world and I’m so blessed to live in the same time as her. 🤍

Listened and enjoyed Lana's music for 8 years between 2014-21 but it wasn't till 2022 it hit me. Like a freight train...of how great she really is. I lost the love of my life in 2020 and when that happens you lose all passion. Things you use to love all of a sudden become unimportant. Lana bought that passion back. Her music, her voice and her persona, everything. She may never become a household name like her buddy Taylor (so many people I talk to have still not heard of her!!!) but that's ok. In 50 years time she will be the one that will be remembered.

@@Sagethis Thanks for that. Great piece by the way. Pretty much nailed her importance in modern music. Watched her Ivor Novello award acceptance speech this morning and watching her up on stage waffling on I thought "She's like one of us. She's humble, she has a natural personality...she's beautiful". Certainly no self absorbed diva.

I'll tell you a curious fact, Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, the singer, was responsible for Lana getting to where she is now. He met Lana through Tumblr in 2011 and they quickly became good friends since they shared things in common. . In addition, they both helped each other while each was in her musical debut. For example, Abel shared a lot of Lana's content on his account, just as Lana shared a lot of Abel's content to help each other and thus each one give a contribution in order to be even more recognized by the musical audience and all just before each one achieves fame. Abel was the first to ask BBC Radio 1 to include 'Video Games' in their playlist. In fact, in an interview, Abel admits that when he met Lana he felt that he had found the girl who wrote her songs, that is, he had found her muse for her songs. From there came great collaborations such as Prisoner, Party Monster where Lana sings vocals, Stargirl Interlude, Lust for Life and Money Power and Glory, an unreleased remix by The Weeknd for the album Kissland but the original is from Lana's album Ultraviolence. Today they continue to have a close relationship, despite the fact that in the music industry there is normally all kinds of competition or rivalries of all kinds, they continue to express their affection and admiration for each other since on social networks through publications and interviews they have made . references between the two after their collaborations; their lyrical and musical influences that both have in common since their songs usually have a dark and complex theme, in which both singers talk about topics such as love, fame, drugs or sex explicitly; and above all their relationship as great friends in the music industry 🎶

I think embracing “individualism” is great and all but, there’s a big difference between confidence in one’s capabilities and self-respect and Narcissism, which has become all too prevalent with the advent of social media and Pop Music that always reiterates this idea that we are “perfect” when we all can use a serious self-evaluation.
@Sagethis
@Sagethis 3 дня назад
Definitely a great point. Many people think the rise of hyper individualism in the 80s helped breed generations of narcissists. I myself didn’t even realize how “narcissistic” social media inherently makes people until I stopped using it. I try to post now only when I “accomplish” something (like traveling) but after not using it for 8 months I cringe every time I post no matter what it is. I think everyone should stop using social media for at least a couple months because you get such a diff perspective on posting and how it’s all rlly about validation and likes and cringe

It's insane that anyone would compare a presidency to a major terror attack. Trump's presidency has had a tremendous impact on the world, but I see it as a positive impact. I've supported Trump from when he first announced that he'd run for president, supported him throughout his presidency, and support him to this day. I believe he is the best president since Ronald Reagan, and among the best in all of US history. I think Biden is literally the worst president in all of US history, and I think his election was a sham, but even so I would never compare that to 9/11. Have some respect, especially considering that you were too young to experience 9/11 for yourself.

Very interesting story, and indeed, you are very lucky as far as how your face tattoos worked out. I think that anyone who needs to ask whether or not they should get face tattoos, probably shouldn't get them. Getting face tattoos is something you do when you know with your entire being that this is something you really want. And even then, there are many things to consider. I also have a few face tattoos, but my story is almost the reverse of yours. I grew up religious in Christianity, then was agnostic for a while, and then became religious in orthodox Judaism for a decade. Both Christianity and Judaism are generally considered to strictly prohibit tattoos, so although I've always loved the look of tattoos from a young age, the idea of getting any never crossed my mind. Not until I was 32 and kind of distancing from all religious, but at the same time still continued to believe in God and remained spiritual in my mindset. I did a lot of research about tattoos at that time to understand if they are truly prohibited, why, and under what circumstances. Many people would disagree with me, but based on my findings I found various sources within Judaism where Rabbinical Sages from 1,000 years ago comment on the prohibition of tattoos that's stated in the Torah (the five books of Moses), and state that one is only liable if the tattoos are done as part of idolatrous practices, which was a common thing a few thousand years ago, people getting tattooed as part of idolatry. But if one gets tattoos for artistic reasons or positive spiritual reasons, then there's no clear prohibition against them. At the end of the day, it's how you interpret the wording of the bible, but having found those interpretations I became convinced that tattooing in itself is not against God per se, but rather what you get tattooed and why. Could I be wrong? Perhaps, though I don't think I am. But that way of looking at things made me feel comfortable to start getting tattooed for the first time at the age of 32. And it was at the age of 35 that I started getting visibly tattooed, including my hands, neck, throat, and some on my face. And every tattoo I've gotten to date has a deep meaning for me behind it, plus I've designed each and every one myself, and all of my tattoos are done in the same style, so that they are like many parts of the same whole that come together. I'm almost at a point where I feel I have all the tattoos that I want. One of the ones that I still want but might not be able to get is on my upper forehead, mainly because my wife is not on board with it as of yet, and secondly because in order to avoid potential complications at work I'd probably have to cover it with makeup on each workday, and I don't know how doable that would be (they are accepting of my current face tattoos at work, but might not be happy if I get more, and I don't want to risk my job). The only regret I've had with my tattoos is some small imperfections in the way they were done, but I've come to learn that tattoos are never 100% perfect. That's just how tattooing is. The mistakes are not tremendous and not noticeable at first glance, and I've come to accept them as they are.

Naw cause Lana's music isn't entirely sad girl music, she sings just as much about diamonds, glamour, spetical & show life. She's always been very pro sex, drugs & rock & roll. Lana flashed an entire titty for an album ffs, she's not as innoncent as you're describing. She has just as many riches & consumerism lyrics in her music as she does mental health notes so you can't disect her like she's an other in that respect. She made pain pretty. It wasn't some raw conservative anti way you're describing, she made a name for pain in the fame game 🤜🎤 glamorized, romantized trauma & we eat it up because it looks & sounds pretty while being relatable in some ways

Personally, I am not so outgoing and don't like partying an completely reject the hookup culture. And lana's art just makes me feel understood in that way. I just completely agree with her question for the culture <3 I love your video.

I became a fan of her during the hardest time of my life, amongst many other things, I had left the first man I had ever really loved cuz he confessed he tried to unalive his ex who was called just like me a couple years before knowing him, I felt so shocked that my heart refused to believe he was a bad person so I just kept romanticizing all of our memories together and thinking I was crazy for it, but then listening to lana i felt like i wasn’t that crazy, there was someone who understood me, someone who might have felt just as crazy and sad for loving the most degenerated men you could meet but she accepted it and made it seem sad but beautiful, she’s been my favorite singer since then even though i’ve already left those sad times behind.
