Looking for the most in-depth sports technology reviews? You've arrived. Everything from GPS watches to action cameras to activity trackers and more. But, just a small snippet of that is published here on RU-vid, the rest is in my massively long posts at dcrainmaker.com. Enjoy!
The negative on the Garmin is also its biggest positive and that’s its features and integrations. The UI isn’t great and there’s more opportunities for software issues due to all the features (code). I prefer Wahoo now.
Love the review! I'm about to change from my well used 810 and I'm on the fence between 840 and 1030 plus. Any thoughts on that? Is the 1030 plus too outdated? I have just seen on a good offer in a bundle in hrm priced well below 840
Your videos have a ton of info. But one issue, it’s hard to catch everything with out stopping rewinding and watching a section again. You’d be better having a longer video and showing how to use it more slowly! Slow down.
The buttons on my Wahoo Bolt degrade within 2 years (I have had one replaced by Wahoo). The rubber codes off a bit and then The sensitivity degrades. Are you familiar with this?
Nice review, but I got 1040 for 480eur. There are few stores at this price, so for 30 bucks more it was no brainer to chose it over 840. Didn't find 840 discounted yet, since it is newer device.
hey excelent for the video i have a question how do I set up or I test my v02 max on my garming 955 I'm not finding any option :( could you please help me
LOVED this in-depth review! The decision-swaying note for me was the fact both the internal & bluetooth mics are recorded together with the option to choose in post-production. Def will make me worry less about an external mic bugging out/sounding bad knowing that the internal mic will still be there as a backup!
Does anyone know if the watch can turn on & take photos with the camera function on the iPhone or Android? I currently have the Samsung watch and that feature is really nice when traveling solo.
Wahoo has bugs on some data fields, e.g. Ant+ LEV, which is not fixed since month. As a long term customer I would appreciate if bugs are fixed fast (especially if they break something).
Female fenix 7s owner here. I wanted to love the Instinct 2S but I found the screen TINY and difficult to read. The 2 might have larger font but was too big for my wrists. Happy with the 7s so far despite the price, but I'm seeing it as a long-term investment :)
Anyone 'HELP' on this unit who owns 1 & used Nav on it! My issue mine is that when use Navagation on it - it only gives me direction(s in Compass points! I dont really want this !!! Cant get why this guys ..is giving him Navagations (Turn byturn, Right, left, etc...!)... If anyone can give me answer this - puzzled!
Best combo: for all cycling metrics a Garmin Fenix/Epix/Forerunner (even an older model is totally fine) and for Navigation Wahoo Roam V2 or Karoo 3. :)
Thanks for the effort! Since I've got a Garmin Fenix for running and swimming an Edge is pretty much a requirement and ties in much better than it's competitors. I just wish Garmin would make their Strava segment screen as customizable as the rest, it's missing some key options.
I can live with everything the DJI offers. What I can't live with is the overheating thing well associated with the GoPro. More overheating comparisons would be ideal. That having been said, your video was precise and straight to the point with excellent visual comparisons. That equals 1 like and subscribe. Cheers.
i'd be curious to see a deeper dive into the comparison between navigation on the different devices. This may have been corrected on newer Garmins, but whenever you go off course on my edge 530, it always wants me to make a u-turn even when there is a perfectly viable route on it. additionally, if i were to go off course and make a u-turn to get back on course, my garmin seems to always tell me to go the wrong direction on the road that I came from rather than the way I am supposed to go. I know hammerhead really marketed smarter navigation features with the karoo 2, but I didn't hear any mention of those. Also, obviously where you live is a much more bike-friendly area, but I have had my Garmin direct me on roads that are unsafe for cyclists (I'm not a wuss; roads that literally no one rides on) instead of taking a safer, more popular route. Additionally, the automatic route creation is close to unusable in my area as it takes me on dangerous roads. I am not sure it even references the heat map data at all...
Nice detailed vid as always! But I guess for regular cyclists ride for fun and fitness, smartphone with a free cycling app would be much better than 500$ dedicated specialty device…
If they didn't want it to be the Karoo 3, they should have come up with a new name... Karoo is a made-up word anyway. Could have called it the Srammeroohead.
I agree, that’s said, on a pure technicality- the Karoo is actually a real thing. The company’s founders are from South Africa, and it’s named after the Karoo bird there.
Congrats on her age group win! Looks like you two scored on making it a family focused, race focused, working trip! Sweet! Now, we need to go visit. Gran Canaria looks incredible! (Your bike computer review isn't too bad either. 😉)
