Hey Derek! Thanks so for leaving a comment! Sorry it took so long to respond. Do you think the students at Redlands could benefit from more of these types of conversations?
Hey thanks for commenting! Everyone eventually finds what works for them. It might be where you place your alarm in your room, it may be the Mel Robbins 12345 method, but the most important part is two things...1. Always keep trying. Keep tweaking and trying. Eventually you'll find your morning groove as long as you keep working at it. If you stop....well then you'll never win the morning! 2. Don't be too hard on yourself. It's hard to go against your circadian rhythm a bit so don't beat yourself up. #KINDCONSISTENCY
@@kevinmecchella_youthspeaker @kevinmecchella_youthspeaker I don't have them on hand lol. I did a ton of reading while in a hyperfocus (ADHD thing) so forgive me that I don't have a bunch of links ready to go. There's at least a dozen studies, particularly the ones pertaining to ADHD, that show how self-control/self-regulation are largely, if not, entirely a genetic trait. Further research demonstrates that training can help, but it's nearly negligible in most people. It's a surprisingly well documented topic, so an hour or two on Google will yield you results easily.
@@kevinmecchella_youthspeaker It is, still discipline helps. I’m an autistic adhd-er and discipline is my word of the year. And it’s helped me make the better choice many times.
Thanks for shedding light on this crucial aspect of education. Valuable insights for educators, parents, and anyone invested in the future of our students. How adaptable are these approaches to different educational settings? Liked and subbed!
I am Normal, But what about you? I am just surprised you have made so many videos and set up your background professionally. Everything seems quite professional, but your low subscriber count seems unconscionable.@@kevinmecchella_youthspeaker
That distinction is so powerful!! Especially in a relationship where one is trying to level up… how great is it to inspire a partner by simply allowing yourself to shine… while I see how motivating a partner that’s not ready for it can come across as nagging
I have never seen this in hs. I was heavily bullied. I just kept switching classes and the bully got suspended. No principal is going to tell the kid to be empathetic. If they do, they're the problem
I’m sorry to hear that you were bullied. I agree that a principal should not be telling any student how to deal with a problem. That’s not there job. It’s the job of a social worker or psychologist to help a student. Being empathetic to hurt people that hurt people is one of the few ways to build resilience in our children. We’ll never stop bullying entirely so my approach is tell help students be proactive within themselves and reframe what a bully is actually doing.
This is also a common phrase in color guard (flags n stuff). It is 100% accurate. If you mess up, you can't look like you messed up. The wind on the field makes you fake it bc it'll throw off your toss
I faked it till I made it. 4.0 GPA. 3.8 college GPA. Passed the bar. Am in international law. And have a side trade as a wielder. MASSIVE pot/benzo head during all of this. Got off the pills. Still got my toking vices, but faked it got me to make it for sure (I also didn't think I could do any of this. I actually surprised myself)
I faked it till I made it in school, guessed on half the answers to the GED, started smoking meth, cleaned up, started working in the glazing trade, moved back to my home town and started my own business, doing well now and won't look back!
I’m happy to see you cleaned up! That’s incredible. If you guessed half the answers on the GED and passed…that shines a light on huge systemic problems with our education system but I am truly happy for you that you’re doing well!
@@kevinmecchella_youthspeaker yes I definitely had many blessings growing up, didn't realize what I was capable of until i was about 20, I'm 22 now but still struggle with personal money management, but coming from felony charges to where I am now, I'm blessed to say the least
Currently using google calendar however missing seriously the old style paper planner. Digital lets me see the month planning much easier but analog gives nice feedback with done tasks.
My passion /hobby is watching anime & reading manga... but I don't think my purpose is related to anime. I love to cool & seeing people taste/eat what I'v made & for the longest time (the majority of my education *late middle school & throughout high school up to graduating this past May*) I wanted to open a restauant (rather that's a cafe, diner, bed & breakfast, etc.), but while talking to my mom & high school principle/director they mentioned that doing something like that didn't really fit with my personality (I'm not assertive or a leader type, I'm more of a follower), I have a caring/loving heart (as they said, especially my mom). So now I'm working at a preschool as a teacher aide, but at times (more often than not) the lead teacher says that I may not be the best fit (despite me doing what my job description says & more), she makes me loose confidence in myself cause up to this point since I started working at fourteen years old or so, I have never been able to stick with a job for more than a few months - the longest being eight months (but than they basically fired me for not being able to work Wednesdays *I was still in school & had mentally draining classes on Wednesdays & told them that & yet they kept putting me down to work Wednesdays) saying "you're just not a good fit for the job". Thing is that I was working at a restauant, so you could imagine how I felt. I'm sooo discouraged with what I'm supposed to do, all my friends that graduated along with me are going to college or some other secondary school or are going into good paying full-time jobs. I also don't think that having a full-time job is for me, cause I get DRAINED fast, but mom always has to mention that I need a good paying job & is now forcing me to take this Google IP course to maybe start working in technology since it's a job in demand nowadays. However, I am incredibly NOT intrested in working an IP job even if it does pay well - I'm just not good with tech like that & am not intrested in learning, but she's still making me do this course (paying $30 sum a month til I finish & she checks in daily "how's your course coming along?" or "How far along are you? Tell me what you're learning." 🤦🏽♀ I apologize for kinda venting like this in the comments btw... but I really don't know what to do.
Hi! Please don't apologize for leaving a great comment like this! So the biggest thing that sticks out to me with what you said was your age. I'm assuming that you're 18 since you just graduated (congrats by the way)! It is my opinion that we are living in a broken system that asks and 18 year old "kid" to figure out what your purpose is and to make the right decision for the rest of your life!!!! THAT'S INSANE! I really think you're not supposed to know what you'd like to do for the rest of your life. I do think that this time is a perfect time to experiment with as much as possible. If you love cooking then you should spend whatever time you can cooking. Sharing your meals with your friends, sharing it on social, maybe getting backing for a food truck or something to ease yourself into your own restaurant. If you hate teaching then stop teaching. If in 12 years you find you want to teach again then go for it. There is no script in life. It's not your moms life.....it's yours. I know that's a hard pill to swallow but it's the truth. Granted if she's paying your tuition or something like that then you have to make that decision whether or not you're going to accept that with her conditions or not. Either way the choice is yours and while that may seem overwhelming, that is an ok feeling. It's normal. Embrace the uncertainty and completely ignore all of your friends who "seem" like they know exactly what they want to do. As long as you keep moving forward with a positivity and gratitude, I can promise both your passion and purpose (maybe two different things) will expose themselves. Please reach out on my site if you'd like to talk more and I'd be more than happy. upgrademyrituals.com/contact/ This is the meat and potatoes for why I make RU-vid videos so if I can help in anyway please don't hesitate!
