For people who are about to have this test and are apprehensive, I just want to say it was not a bad experience for me at all. I'm in my 60's, have asthma and have been getting very short of breath with exertion. I was filled with anxiety because of all the comments saying how horrible it was but, for me anyway, it wasn’t bad at all. I hope this helps someone not dread it quite so much.
An unnecessary medical procedure, a patients lung function can be assessed easily by a simple spirometry tube, its probably used as a study rather than an obvious diagnosis, hospitals have a good way of making money, the government gives them money and if they don't use it the money will go back to the government for other projects, this lung function test procedure is a waste of money.
I go for this and a colonoscopy on the same day February 28th. It’s the anniversary of my dad’s death. Actually, the day WE, his kids, found out he was murdered. I will absolutely come back and tell you how it goes. I will be going under of course. ❤
I'd love to have my heart and lung functions tested in a first world country. I was born with a defective heart valve, so I guess lots of pathological stuff would be discovered. Living in a third world country means being checked and tested by mediocre "medical practitioners."
I avoided getting an endoscopy done for six years until i HAD to have it done. I was put to sleep through the process. And i woke up feeling like id just had the best sleep ever. And thinking i cant believe i put this off for six years! Im weeks away from having another endoscopy with no fears 😊
Had endoscopy under sedation but apparently they were not able to finish it because I had ripped the scope out of my throat each time... couldn’t recall myself doing such a thing! Next time they’ll do the procedure under anesthesia, hopefully that works. Also, the throat numbing spray they give you tastes literally like a heavily carbonated sugar free banana. That’s the best I can describe it, tasted horrible!
I think you should show them a few people for when you got the door closed and cut off their oxygen in that sealed chamber! I freaked the F out, one more second and I would have lost it. It says you can open the door at anytime you need to but I don't recall having that option back in 2013 when I did my one and only one. Sugar coating these tests but hey you'll live through it but damn it sucks! or blows!!! One can assume these medical doctors are being condisending by saying they know you can do it and when i say I can't thats what I mean!!! Have a nice day.
Good, informative video but the technician's demeaner does not appear to be very kind, compassionate and understanding. Her body language appears that she is annoyed. A smile goes a long way especially in the medical field. If I was the Patient I would be extremely nervous. Maybe she was just having a difficult shift.
i had both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, afterwards when i woken up i started to cough uncontrollably and i freaked out bc i didn’t know where i was until the nurses told me that i was in recovery
Doctors must make big money from this procedure because it seems anyone who complains of any stomach pain is ordered to get one of these. I have no abnormal labs whatsoever besides anemia which is improving and they want to do this test. Don't know what to think.
I had 3 down 1 in 2018 I found out I was gluten free 2 last year my ephous was setred and a colonoscopy in 2019 I found out I was dairy free and had ibs.
I am scheduled to have this test but I think I won't be able to complete it as I cough when I exhale to hard. Do they fail you if you can't exhale without coughing
My grandma went and got her done January 14 but she had a cardiac arrest they try to do CPR on her but I guess the anesthesia was to strong for her so she didn't make it the ambulance game and took her to the hospital she was on life support after I seen her she wasn't breathing on her own they kept trying to bring her back she keep having 4 heart attacks I don't no if it was the anesthesia or what happened 😢
@@kevinosorio1708 honestly it was like a walk in the park lol … as soon as they put the anesthesia on you, you fall asleep in less than 5 seconds and then you wake up in a whole different room confused 🤣🤣 .. it felt like I shut my eyes and opened them back up but they told me a whole hour had passed by..
I am thankful for this video, and the comments people had. My husband is having lung problems, but said he will be refusing the PFT because he is claustrophobic. After seeing this, he says he could do it. So glad.
Claustrophobia isn’t usually a problem because of the glass but I do see it get in the way of testing occasionally (once every couple years, maybe). Different labs may offer alternative testing that wouldn’t require him to be sealed in the box. That being said, I’m glad he felt more confident going ahead with the testing after you two did some self-education 🙂.
Had a upper endoscopy on Thursday it was a nightmare hell very traumatic experience third time around I remember the oxygen only I didn’t remember the scope or sedated I know I didn’t see or hear nothing at all then I started waking up as the scope was coming out completely fast then I was told by the nurses I pulled out the scope I didn’t think was possible for this to happen as I wasn’t aware of anything happening then dr said I was distressed I wasn’t aware of this I feeling traumatised by this the dr said he stopped how it possible I was aware of anything it certainly freaked me out the first time wasn’t a problem the second the sedation didn’t work hell or awful experience not knowing how it happened because I was in a deep sedation having a antihistamine night before the endoscopy process
Hey! Don’t worry about it at all! I am 14, and I have had 3 of them so far! My next one it is a few weeks. They are nothing to worry about, and you don’t feel a thing! After the endoscopy, you might be a little sore, but it goes away after a few days! The procedure is not long at all, and for me the recovery was longer than the actual procedure😂 It’ll be okay!
Girllll! Me to. I’ve had ulcers for 10 yrs now and since have gotten worse. So I’ve visited my GI specialist and she’s recommended I have an EGD,Mine is December 16,2021 and I’m scared thinking about it. But it feels good knowing I’m not alone here in this comment thread.
This test is very difficult But I past this test and I don’t have a Asthma thanks God And I feel bad for those people who have Asthma. I’m praying for you guy’s
Had to get the cov test today which is Today is Friday, Have it done Monday Not really scared of the test I’m scared of the outcome What they may find like cancer.. All I’m gone do is pray and put it in Gods hand..please pray for me..
@@a_goddess426 Don't be worried, I was stressing out so much but it was such an easy procedure. It hurt when they were trying to find my veins for the IV but other than that I was fine. I had a sore throat for about 3 days. I hope yours goes well.
I need to get this done on Friday because smth is going on with my throat and I’m HELLA WORRIED, I need to also get a covid test on Wednesday so I can even do it and I have anxiety so even a shot is just so nerve wrecking for me. I hope I don’t accidentally COME OUT when I’m put under the anesthesia. :(
I have endoscopy procedure next month. I was told no food or liquid after midnight before procedure....not even to take my morning meds for HBP, etc? Is this fasting restriction reasonable and medically necessary prior to procedure? Thanks.
After midnight.. we need to start fasting....I will go have this procedure on this 22/5/2021..mine is from mouth and form anus... hope it doesn't hurt me at all....coz doctor told me that I will have anesthesia before the procedure. I am from Malaysia.
