As a person who marched in this show I have to say this was one of the coolest things I have done. In HS I played Malagueña and La suerte and they are some of my favorite pieces. You honestly can't compare a HBCU style marching band to one like the Marching Knights, they are two very different styles (BCU may have lost the game but their band definitely put us MK's to shame, or at least that is my opinion.)
Cute performance....especially after BCU brought the house down...good job...two different styles...I marched at a HBCU band...i've learned to appreciate other styles...but I love my high stepping show style the best.....so much E3 with our style (energy, excitement, entertainment)
Thank you for your comment. While I did enjoy BCU's high stepping ways and energy (I will give you that they were more energetic than the Marching Knights - l loved the drum major intro), some of the dance moves (during the Beyoncé number) weren't received well by some of the people in the stands. But to each their own. :) Check out my other videos; I did post the BCU band's performance from this evening as well.
There are a few other things to look at as well. BCU does the same show every single game and works to perfect that one show. This was also their 3rd time performing that show, whereas most college bands like the Marching Knights perform a different show every game to give some variety. That's the tradeoff between these two bands.
I am a proud parent of a student that goes to UCF, I was there and sat in the student section (what a mistake) they were very loud and the kids made rude comments about the band. I believe that UCF Band should have played first before the Bethune Cookman Band played as this band really rocked the stands. Other than that the UCF band was good. Go Knights!
Usually the guest band performs first - which is why B-CU performed first. And that is true of any stadium. I also sat in the student section...once. Never again. Go Knights!
