With your child riding shotgun, you’ll help foster a love of the outdoors and a passion for mountain biking. The only problem you’ll have is getting them off it.
A front mounted child bike seat attachment that's MTB ready. The Shotgun seat is designed for children 2 to 5 years of age, is fully adjustable to fit any bike, and has rubber padding to protect your frame.

Hey @DrumITbumIT - our 2.0 doesn't fit e-mtb's because of the variance between the top tube and the down tube being too great. We have had a handful of customers who have modified their shotgun seat to fit their e-mtb, but that's not something we can recommend. However, we do have an e-mtb specific model, pro seat, which has no frame contact and is super easy to take on/off your bike. Cheers, Harrison
Hey there, thanks for reaching out. So sorry to hear that the foot peg screws were missing. That's not the experience we hope for our customers at all. Please reach out to our customer care team at hello@kidsrideshotgun.com and they will be able to help get this sorted for you. Cheers, Harrison
I can’t for the life of me figure out how to safely start and ride the bike without lowering my seat. Raising my seat up while riding doesn’t seem like a good idea (not super easy to ride with my kid and unlatch the post, raise it, then latch again, and if I need to quickly put my foot down I won’t be able to), but inclines are killing my legs at the lowered position.
Hey Skyler, sorry to hear that you are having some trouble fitting our seat yo your bike. That's not the experience we hope for our customers at all. I have seen a few of our seats fitted to stump jumpers before so your tope tube shouldn't be too steep. Here a few fitting tips that should with fitting. If you are still having issues, I would recommend reaching out to our customer care team directly at hello@kidsrideshotgun.com with some photos of the issues you are having. Fitting tips: 2.0 The first thing I would suggest for this issue is to ensure you pinch the two sides of the Shotgun frame tightly together against your top tube before doing up the top bolt under your saddle. The next thing I'd suggest is to ensure you have a good angle on your seat. By this, I mean that the footpegs are closer to the front of the bike than the seat. The last bit of adjustment to try is to ensure you have the correct pressure on your down tube, this is managed by adjusting the footpeg tensioner - Wind the tension dial clockwise and counter-clockwise to increase or decrease the clamping force. This controls how tightly you can screw the footpegs on. After that, I would place the quick-release bolt in one of the top holes to increase tension on your top tube. In summary, the primary fasteners are the bracket bolt inside the silver cylinder below your saddle, and the quick release that secures the seat to the bike as well as the footpeg tensioner. Hopefully that should help get you and your little on the trails! Cheers, Harrison
Once installed, is the seat supposed to swivel backward or is it pretty immovable on the bike? Is there a certain frame it won't work with. I have a GT aggressor pro
Hey there, there isn't necessarily a minimum height however, our 2.0 seat won't fit bikes that have a single frame tube. The max distance between the top tube and down tube of your bike where the shotgun seat mounts can not exceed 195mm if using the top axle position, or 230mm if using the lower axle position. In terms of thickness, our 2.0 seat has a range of adjustments to fit top tubes from 30 - 68mm wide, and down tubes from 30 - 100mm wide. Feel free to check out the full fitting guide over on our website. Cheers, Harrison kidsrideshotgun.com/pages/shotgun-2-0-seat-fitting
Hey Darren. No unfortunately we don't provide any accessories or attachments for these kinds of situations. The swing arms are designed to flex, so that if you have a small variance in size between the top & down tubes you can still get a good fit. If the variance in size is too great I'd encourage you to return your shotgun seat for our pro model - which mounts at the stem & seat post with zero frame contact.
@kidsrideshotgun will I have to install a special stem on the head for the pro version to work? The version that doesn't touch the frame. I have a stumpjumper evo comp alloy. Thank you.
Is it safe to attach shotgun rope to dropper post? I need some solution to pull my son but I think its too much tension for dropper post which is not designed for that kind of load. Do you have some longterm experience after using it on dropper post ?
Re shotgun pro seat Fantastic build quality but the product execution, meaning the instructions as well, let it down! I have a 30.9mm post and seat clamp will not fit. The orange booklet and the videos ive found do not cover this part of installation. Pre installed is a set of rear clamp inserts that I haven’t worked out how to remove. Tried prizing with a small allen key but don’t want to force anything. In any case only the installed set and not second set supplied. I also have a 27.2 post so perhaps i need the large inserts that i assume are missing from my box? Essentially it appears like there are 3 clamping diameters, assuming the rubber clamp ring is used with every clamp diameter option.. Can kiddrideshotgun please share this detail with the world or is the info secreted somewhere i just haven’t found yet? I tried using the chat link on website but it would not open on iphone. Can anyone please help !
Hi Dan, looks like a great product. Is it possible for the system to damage a dropper post? Are dropper posts designed to support that kid of lateral force?
What’s the difference that makes the 2.0 potentially suitable for 18month olds (as opposed to the original where you say from 2 years)? Is it the saddle shape? Thanks
Hey there, it's the leg length. The 2.0 seat has a higher footpeg setting than the original seat, meaning it's suitable for slightly younger kids with shorter legs. We recommend your child is able to sit unaided for long periods, pay attention for the duration of the ride and listen to simple instructions before you begin. THere's more safety info over on our website. Cheers!
