TikTok: Four Brothers Farm Instagram: four.brothers.farm RU-vid: At least one episode weekly
We started this channel to immortalize the beautiful moments of our life, and to capture the many memories we have made on our small piece of land in the woods with our four kids (Lyric, Presley, Indy and Jett).
Join us on our family’s journey toward self reliance and clean living. We are constantly learning, and have a passion for helping others who are interested in becoming more self-sufficient. We invite you to accompany us as we go back to basics, and vow to never take this simple life for granted.
If you enjoy our content, we would love to have you as a subscriber - this is the best way to help us grow our channel and get our message out to the world :)
Explain “wilt”, you’re saying just a wilted plant? Appreciate the info - with as much foliage that falls from trees and wilts in the ground that they eat, it seems like this could be hard to avoid. Typically they are eating all of the branches we put in this feeder in under a day’s time, so should be safe.
Haha far from it - the heat is definitely a bit different when animals and crops have to withstand it as well. We were able to get some time to enjoy it ourselves, though, which was great!
I do. I have chickens and dogs, I never throw it away. I have 30 falling garbage cans in different parts of the yard that I throw sticks and leaves and cutting and then I throw the fresh dog poo in it. I drilled holes in the cans so worms crawl up inside and break everything down. The next spring on the top 3-4” has not been mulched by the worms, I dump it out, separate the mulch and throw the top layer back in. By far the easiest way with no turning. Fast mulch, no, but I have several cans going at once and I can dump and take the mulch anytime
@@Fourbrothersfarm it’s a no go if your dogs have illness or parasites. Mine get ivermectin and Panacure monthly, they could eat raw pork with no issues…but if I gave them pork it still would have spent at least a week in the freezer and an ivermectin beforehand.
100% - thank you! We do water it quite frequently, but with the heat this week it has been sooo dry. We stirred and watered again today ☺️ Thank you so much for watching and giving some advice!
Water need to heat it up no banapeels kill worms and ruin compost dry and dusty not doing and coffee grounds old ones green waist need a bucket in kitchen no meat scraps no banana peels old used coffee grounds green food that rotted in frig add water to green food compost will start to work that is what I d did and grass clippings also and some water turn over grass clippings into pile and water spray water lightly or your tea will run away 😊😊😊😊😊
Cinnamon, rosemary, mint and ginger soaked in a clear alcohol solution (we used vodka) for a couple weeks. Then only a couple drops of the solution are needed.
@@Fourbrothersfarm I'm not an expert in pruning but I would say when they get to the height you want (similar to the ones in the shade) keep them that height and no more or perhaps prune even before they get to that height.
Yes love this! People don't realize homeschooling is so much more exciting than they think, it can definitely be challenging as well...but putting your kids in a school has its challenges also
A bit of information from my experience its best and more efficient. To use a lawnmower with catch bag.but not use catch bag to mulch it all up breaking it down to the finest bits and pieces prior to placing in bin.
We do that as well ☺️ great method. Occasionally some unmulched leaves will make their way into the pile but we try to bury them to accelerate the process. Smaller the better! I have even heard of some people putting kitchen scraps in the blender prior to adding them to pile, but I haven’t done that myself. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate you!
That might not be steam you see coming from your manure pile. Mine has ASHES in it where the shavings and straw has actually smoldered. Don’t pile manure or compost near a building!🔥
I've heard of that! With this particular pile only ever having reached about 140 degrees Fahrenheit, it would not be likely it smoldered, but it is definitely a possibility under certain conditions! This is why it is important to pay attention to carbon:nitrogen ratios. And you're right, never near a building! Thanks so much for watching :)
No joke! They ought to come up with a heating system based entirely off this concept :) Thank you so much for watching. We are just getting started in documenting our family's journey regularly on RU-vid and your support means a lot. Hope you enjoyed.
Some of them were good enough for me. I don't need them to be big. I like a little radish. They can be overwhelming in salads and I find that they don't keep well using just half.
I agree! The kids snacked on their fair share of smaller ones - it works out well raising pigs on pasture because we never have any vegetables go to waste, and it’s very healthy for them. Thanks for watching, by the way - really hope you enjoyed it!
Compost are Absolutely Wonderful! My Grandparents kept one for years until they Aged an couldn't Garden anymore ! My Granny Love the smell of Compost when she would turn it ..... Good Days of Future past ❤
You would think! We maintain our compost temperatures around 130 degrees Fahrenheit, so luckily there is no risk of this. In order for combustion to take place, temperatures would need to reach 300-400 degrees ☺️
It sure is! We can’t settle for store-bought chicken any more now that we know how much better these taste, so we have to raise enough for the whole year ☺️
