Nice trip man. I have to say I’ve never seen that launch that flooded so late in the season. Been there in the spring with the water that high. Thanks for sharing.
Would love a gear breakdown…what weight and length rods…braided line? Type of leaders? I live right in BL with easy access and am looking to target LT’s…i live directly across from Dome Island…if you know of any guys that can offer a guided outing please let me know….
@@FishupNorth I do have a boat but it’s not setup for fishing. I’ve got that and my hobie setup. I just went out earlier tonight and inside of ten minutes the lake became downright treacherous. It is no joke when it turns nasty.
@@nedberkowitz9006 Oh, I agree with you. I don’t go out if the weather is bad. Well, if you want to go out I’ll show ya how I get them on lg one morning
Could you let me know what kind of kayak trailer are you using? Also, what is the towing hitch size or any adapter from a 1 inch to a 2 inch? Thank you.
@@FishupNorth 🙂 I don't fish LG however I do a lot of trout fishing in LGWF including Jabe and Little Jabe, where I come across Route 8 from Chestertown to Hague and then hit 9N towards Tongue Mountain, which I also hike from time to time. I know what the Hague launch looks like from 9N, however the last time I saw that from the lake itself was back in the 60s. Yeah, I'm old as dirt. LOL!
@@justasimpleguy7211 that’s awesome! You got it right though, that’s great hike as well, if you get the chance definitely give it a try for the lake trout
I've caught some nice largemouths in the narrows and the first time I took my Topwater 106 out was on Paradox and I hooked into a 32" northern on 8 lb mono and a good old Rapala # 9 floater in black & silver.
I hit Paradox this morning. Conditions weren't great because of the front that just came through but I did pull in a 16" largemouth on a whopper plopper off the beach across from the state launch. Also caught a nice fat 16" smallie trolling with a shallow running Rapala-like jerk bait and then had one right upside the kayak and did the exact same thing you did, fumbling with the net, letting some slack into the line and then watching the fish swim away. It was a huge smallie, at least 20". Dang! LOL! It took half the spool on two runs and then 1/4 on the last run. Okay, that's probably an exaggeration but it did strip a lot of line! Thought he was played out after the last run and didn't pay enough attention. It was a really nice smallie! Both the smallies were off Crawford Island and within 5 minutes of each other. I would have stayed longer but the wind kicked up around 10 AM. Almost whitecaps! By the way, nice setup on your yak! 🙂
I love paradox. Always enjoy watching fellow NY kayak anglers. Looked like a fun fall day for sure. I hope you were able to upgrade to nicer spinning reel this black friday. Watching you have to manually peel off line had my heart racing!!! lollll Looking forward to seeing your 2024 kayak content. Cheers from a fellow NY angler>
Very impressive and your patience is recognized. My friends and I have fished Paradox for years and it seems the best time there is with a slight overcast. Tells us more about the Kayak and its stability. Regards Roger Wydler formerly from Long Island and now I reside in Florida.
