Great video, I’m glad you showed the seals before I changed mine because I didn’t have replacements for those. Just a couple of questions, would it be okay if I change my compressor and drive it to a shop without turning my AC on so they can vacuum and recharge it? Second question is, would the AC go bad fast if I don’t change the desiccant?
You're not going to do any damage driving it without the system charged with the A/C off since the clutch won't be engaged and the compressor won't be spinning. Also, your low pressure switch should keep it from coming on in the first place since the system will be empty, you can also keep the electrical connecter disconnected to be super safe. It's impossible to say how much damage not changing the desiccant sac will do but you will lower the life of the new compressor. As soon as you open the that system the desiccant sac becomes saturated with water just from humidity in the air fairly quickly which is why they're shipped in airtight packages, and is also why you put them in last right before you vacuum the system down.

Great video but, the problem I'm having is that the head of 5mm stud rounded off with almost no effort at all. Any suggestions on how i can break that stud loose, now?
@@xcynderheart3287 took my 5th gen to a shop yesterday to have a/c diagnosed and possibly fixed. First off the mechanic insisted that I leave for an hour because he only works alone 🤔almost a 100 degree day I told him I wasn’t about to leave and I would either wait in my car or his waiting room. He went with the car. I explained that I already had system filled professionally and being empty wasn’t the problem. Well after 5 min he allowed me to wait in waiting room and 10 min after that he tells me I need a compressor and I owe him 75 bucks because he had to fill system up in order to diagnose. I stated that car was already full with freon and and he yells never mind just find yourself a Compressor when he noticed me leaving says your not gonna give me anything and I stated Sir I don’t believe you did any work deserving that much. Was I wrong or was he trying to finagle a. Quick buck?
@@pyoung102 I will start this by saying I agree with you. Doesn't sound like the most professional person. I would definitely drain and refill your system to be sure that the correct amount of refridgerant was in there. But these machines filter it as it comes out so you really dont lose any. You basically refill with what came out. I would want to be compensated for my time butttttt, that dude kinda sounds like a dick so I think you were right.
I have it on good authority that Jesus does in fact work for the EPA so you gotta watch out for that guy. GREAT VIDEO i will use it on any future 2011 Camaros I own and replace the A/C compressor. p.s. post more videos!
