Good, simple video. I was struggling to figure out what was wrong with ours that kept occasionally running after the toilet flushed and I replaced the fill valve cap to no avail. I was about to buy a new fill valve, until I realized that after I turned the water off for an hour, the level in the tank dropped and I believe it's actually the flapper instead.
Let us know if you need help - we'd be happy to assist. Our Tech Support team can be reached at 1-800-528-3553 or by e-mail at sales@lavelle.com. We are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST.
Excellent video. But I think more can be said or shown to explain what an unstable tank looks like (moves). The bolts do not come with integrated rubber gaskets (all in one part) so leak can occur if tank moves (not level).
This will not operate if you have a handle on the side of the tank. When installed for maximum lift of flapper, chain no slack at all, it doesn't cause enough upward motion to lift the flapper to release the water without holding down the handle until the tank is empty. Want to push the handle flushing the toilet and walk away, not using this Universal Tank Lever if the handle your replacing is on the side of the tank. Contacted Korky customer service, waste of time, they just sent a video how to install but shows nothing how to when pushing down on handle to get more lift pulling the chain to release the water. $38 for 3" new rubber flapper and universal handle = 100% fail. Talked again with Korky customer service requesting to send a video or explain how to get the chain to lift up more, they had no response. Clearly, it's an issue for anyone buying this that has a side mounted handle, reading feedback at box stores, everyone is returning the product because the package says it will work, not. Korky responds with a general copy/paste, contact customer service, which I did, don't waste your time
Thank you for your comment - we’re sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve experienced with your installation. When installing the handle in the side mount position, there are a few important things to keep in mind: 1) The elbow segment must be installed at the 30° angle shown at 1:14. This maximizes the amount of flapper lift. 2) When the lever arm is attached to the lever segment, it should be positioned as close to the front tank wall as possible (without scraping wall). This maximizes the distance that the arm travels (increases flapper lift). 3) The chain should have minimal slack to ensure that the flapper is lifted immediately upon flushing (sounds like you have done this but might be worth double-checking - sometimes an extra link can make a difference). We hope this helps. Please be sure to contact us if you still need assistance - we would be happy to walk you through this in more detail!
Forgot to share this - here is a link to a video troubleshooting the side mount installation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BTy-pXY7ouA.html One other option: If you contact us and share your toilet brand and model information, we can check to see if we have it on site. If we have it, we'd be happy to send a video of installation in our toilet if it would be helpful.

Bought this flapper at walmart and the band is red and doesn't turn to the open position because the two plastic pieces are defectively molded together with mold flash, and Korky sends them out the door anyways. Made in the USA means nothing if the product is sent out with defects, we can get that from China. I drilled a hole through the plastic where the hole in the ring is, then adjusted with the fine adjustment and it works fine.

So I did all of these steps, and the toilet is leaking, and the fill valve keeps coming on and running, even after the tank is full. Something is wrong with the fill valve and the kit isn't enough to stop the leaking. I think there is a missing step here or missing parts. I can get the tank to stop leaking.

Got mine installed and it worked correctly on the first fill, then on the 3rd fill it makes a short squeal at the end of the fill. I re-adjusted the valve to lower the stop point and the valve still makes a short squeal at the end of fill. I removed the top of the cover and checked the inside of the valve, but nothing gave any hint as to what the squeal is. anyone with a solution???

When a company says “the entire kit” you except to make one trip and have the entire kit. How does this company not include a flush lever? It’s clearly a part of the unit. Now I get to make ANOTHER trip…..yay.

The instructions were useful and by following them I sorted the problem. But the vocal fry of the "narrator". Why do some women have to use this affectation? I wanted to stick my head in the toilet listening to her.
So y'all think you're slick getting views by keeping information out of the diagram within the instructions to force people to watch the video for their reference to make sure they do this correctly? What if the purchaser doesn't have internet? "Fuck them, I got my money." Right?
Would you be willing to clarify what information is missing from the diagram? If there is something missing from the instructions, we want to be sure that we add it. Thanks!

Thanks, I haven't seen this type of flush mechanism before my apartment installing the new low volume toilets, and they installed this in the toilet for us. This is another cheap and easy repair, and made quickly understandable thanks to this video.

that is a good idea! Those flexible lines degrade with time. Mine are 10 years old, the last line I replaced was getting brittle. This tells me they have no longer than a 10 year lifespan. The alternative is to let it go and risk bursting. I use the rubber lines with the metal sheath. The lines that are made of metal solid tubing will last indefinitely by comparison. Replacing all mine in my updating to be safe.
Everything you said worked. I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together, and it seemed to slightly improve the situation. As the toilet tank fills, the valve was shutting off then coming back on several times. Once it filled completely there was no leakage, so it's not the flapper. Now it only cycles two or three times when the tank is nearly full. Could it be the float rubbing on the side of the float chamber?
All these new Toilet tank kits are junk the other band is too its all very cheap plastic thin as a plastic picnic cup. I have looked there is no solid well made kit all are as cheaply made as possible.

Sorry to hear that! If the chain has too much slack, it may be necessary to move the lanyard hook to a different link to eliminate slack (the chain between the flapper and the lever attachment point should be fairly taut). If excess chain is getting caught under the flapper, it may be helpful to cut the chain. If you have additional questions or want installation assistance, we are here and happy to help!
